Discussion of dancing with Xion

Xion would find Lea sitting on a bench under a tree, sketching something on a pad of paper. He'd look at it, frown thoughtfully, then erase a bit and redo it until he was satisfied. It was still a little while til sunset, but he was always up for a little chat.

She had been looking for him, while trying to avoid the bullies and Saïx and everything else but when she found him, she was still surprised. And confused. That... didn't look like homework or a report or anything. So... what was he doing?

She inched closer for a better look, not even noticing how close she had gotten until she hit the back of the bench. Which would also let him know she was there. Hood up and all.

Leaning over to take a look, it would seem that Lea was sketching what looked like one of the defensive bangles they had back home in a few different variants, each from a couple of different angles. There were a few notes in the margins of the page too, mostly lists of different materials and temperatures.

He looked up when Xion bumped the bench, smiling a bit. "Oh hey, Xion," he said. "What's up?

She glanced around, and seeing it was just them, lowered her hood. "What are you doing?" she asked, softly, curious.

"I'm thinking about trying to replicate the kind of protective bangles we had back home," Lea said. "Or at least see if I could Forge something similar. I'm sketching out different designs so I can get a clear picture of what I want to make and how before I use up any materials."

"You mean since there don't seem to be aby moogles here?" she teased lightly as she came to sit by him. Lots of shopkeepers but no Moogles. She kept checking the dorm for one, sure he was around somewhere.

"Hey, people besides moogles can make stuff like that," Lea said, amused. "In fact my dad used to; he ran the accessory shop back home and made a lot of his own stuff. It's just that moogles just happen to be really good at it, and are more versatile than most people."

"Your... dad... ran an accessory shop?" she asked, head tilting. She still didn't fully understand parents, but she did want to hear more about her friend from before she knew him. Even if that hurt sometimes for some reason.

"Yeah," Lea said. "He was pretty good at it too. I mean we never had tons of munny, but we always had plenty."

"Anyway, did you need something?", he said. "Not that I don't like just hanging out with you, but you're usually doing other stuff in the afternoons, so I figured if you came looking for me there's probly a reason."

She wanted to tease and joke and just have fun with Axel. But she also wanted answers. And this was something that she could ask without hurting him. "People keep trying to explain this dancing mission to me," she said, staring out ahead. "But I don't understand it."

Discovery of Xion sneaking out at night (backdated slightly to the end of May)

As a rule, Lea was generally a fairly light sleeper. So it was hardly surprising that he was occasionally woken up by Xion slipping out of bed in the middle of the night. However, he usually fell right back to sleep afterwards, and since she was always back in the morning, he assumed that she was just getting up to use the bathroom or something and thought no more of it.

However, this particular night he found himself unable to get back to sleep after being wakened by Xion's nocturnal stroll and started to get concerned when she didn't return after a few minutes. Then more concerned when about a half hour had passed and she still wasn't back.

So this time, when Xion did return, she would find her friend sitting up in bed, apparently waiting for her.

It would take her a while. Night wasn't exactly the easiest time to hunt for shells on the beach, and she was always careful not to get caught or to wake anyone. So she was startled when she saw Axel sitting up as she snuck back into the dorm.


He would have seen her quietly edge the door closed behind her before she turned and froze, seeing him. Then she put whatever she had been holding into her pocket and lowered her hood before walking over as quietly as she could, a small smile on her face. Part of her was always afraid that when she left for the shell, that she would come back to find Axel gone. That she would be alone again.

Lea, on the other hand, wasn't smiling. In the dim light, he saw her slip something into her pocket, but couldn't tell what it was. Presumably it had something to do with why she'd snuck out.

"Welcome back," he said, keeping his voice down since most of the rest of the dorm was still asleep. "Now would you mind telling me why you were sneaking out in the middle of he night to begin with?"

She stopped smiling and frowned, confused. He was upset...? Why? With her? She walked over closer so they wouldn't wake anyone and sat beside him. "I always go out at night," she said, softly. "Am I not allowed to?" was that why he was upset. Had she broken a rule? Was... was she going to be in trouble?

"Yeah I think it actually is usually against the rules for students to be out running around the school after a certain time of night," Lea said. "But that's not the point. It's more the fact that you were sneaking off and not telling me about it. Up til now, I've thought you were just getting up to go to the bathroom or something when I heard you getting up in the middle of the night, since you were always back before I woke up in the morning. But when I woke up again like an hour later tonight, you were still gone, and I had no idea where you were or what was going on, so I was worried."

She looked confused, but also devastated. "I didn't realize I was waking you," she whispered, sitting on the edge of her bed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."

Aw, don't look like that, Xion. He can't stay upset when you look like that.

Lea sighed, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly. "It's OK," he said. "You didn't know, like you said. Just don't do it any more, OK?"

"Though what were you sneaking off for anyway?", he said. "Seems like a really weird time to run an errand or something."

"But... I can't stop yet," she said softly. I can let you know when I'm going, if you want. But...." she reached into her pocket and pulled out the shell she had just collected. "For Roxas," she said softly, knowing he'd understand why. That's he'd understand this was when she got the shells for the bed.

Getting the band back together- shortly after Roxas' arrival

Lea and Isa sat in one of the many study/reading nooks in the library, several textbooks scattered open around them, both on the sturdy-looking leather couch and the low table nearby. At first glance, it appeared that they were studying for midterms, but when one approached close enough to hear what they were talking about, it became clear that their conversation had drifted rather far from the topic of schoolwork. But hey, they had books out so it still counted as studying, right?

All in all, it didn't look like they were expecting any company. But they were about to get some regardless.

Re: Getting the band back together- shortly after Roxas' arrival

Xion was walking with Roxas, warning him about the weird people here as she tried to recall where Axel had said he would be. She tried the library first, since it was generally a good place to hide from bullies, so Roxas should know where it was anyway. She smiled when she heard Axel's voice and started walking a little faster, but when she heard Isa's she stopped in her tracks, smile falling away and she paled a bit and shuttered. She.... still was not sure what to think, what to believe. And mostly she dealt with that by avoiding him all together.

Except Roxas... She was still, trapped by her on indecision.

Roxas had been listening to her describe other people, and it makes his heart ache. Given that Xion doesn't remember beyond her destruction, it makes sense, but... He frowns.

"What about them doesn't make sense? That they're treating you like a friend?"

He knew that neither of them were very good with emotions, or anything relating to the heart. But now he knows better, and coming from a time where she knows better, it's a little hard to listen to.

"Maybe they're telling the truth. Maybe they do consider you a friend."

He'd continue, but he perks up, hearing Axel's voice. He's about to go forward to greet him, but he sees the way Xion falters.

"What's wrong?"

It's luck, or perhaps intuition, that makes Isa shift his gaze from Lea, and catch a glance of familiar spiky blond hair.

"Hey, Lea," He interrupts whatever Lea was talking about at the moment, "Look who it is.." He nods his head in the direction of where the kids were standing.

"So then he said-", Lea began before pausing in mid-sentence when Isa cut in directing his attention elsewhere.

Then when he saw what- or rather who- it was being directed to, he froze for second, eyes wide, before jumping to his feet, the textbook that had been sitting open on his lap falling to the floor completely unnoticed. "...Roxas?", he said, hardly daring to believe it.

Xion gave Axel a small nod, as if he needed her to confirm that she had checked and yes this was actually Roxas. She might have spoken, but Saïx was there, or Isa, or whoever he was. Both old fear over not speaking in front over him, and new confusion kept her quiet from within her hood.

The clatter of the book falling to the ground is enough to draw Roxas’s attention, and despite his concern for Xion, he can’t help the grin that forms on his face when he sees his old friend.

“Hey, Axel.”

Even after coming here to this weird place, seeing his friend makes him smile. His gaze flicks to Isa, and though the smile isn’t as bright as the one he gave to the redhead, he still nods to him.

“S... Isa.” He’s sill struggling to remember the name, but an attempt is being made. He turns to Xion, offering her a smile as well.

“I guess we’re all here, huh?”

Isa seems momentarily startled to hear Roxas call him by his actual name, but he quickly regains composure, and gives Roxas an amicable nod in return.

"Roxas..." He punctuates the greeting with an adjustment of his reading glasses.

This isn't his reunion, though, and his attention turns to Lea.
