February Event and Intro Log
Orientation Week/Magic Mayhem
The campus of Diatu Magicademy stretches out before you, confused and chaotic and surging with energy. Where are you headed? To your dorm or suite, to get settled? Maybe you need some food now? Wherever you head off to as your first stop, you have to deal with the snow. Helpful or proud students are passing out various magical remedies to get you where you need to be -- umbrellas with a nasty tendency to dump snow directly onto other people nearby, an iron tube that projects fire but appears to have no off switch, snowshoes that keep you slightly too high off the snow and thus provide no friction for stopping...
Familiar Follies
Familiars do not harass or harm each other as a rule -- but that doesn't mean they have no pecking order, and the week of Orientation finds them all jockeying for status and position as suits them. This can take the form of pranks, displays, competitions, or simple physical assertiveness towards each other. The goal is simply to be seen as superior by the student body. New wizards especially may find themselves surprised at this behavior of their familiars...
Research On the Sundered
With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.)
Furthermore, they request to perform a few spells on you for testing purposes. It is, quite regrettably, possible that if you consent to this testing, you will come away with a temporary side effect -- a slight change of hair color, traveling two steps for every one you take, one hand moving about a second behind the arm it should be attached to, or being ridden by a penguin. No need to worry, these changes won't last more than a day!
Wonders Await
Diatu Magicademy is open to you in all its glory. Have fun! |
Sunset Shimmer | My Little Pony: Equestria Girls
Sunset's head is definitely spinning. She's going to learn new magic? That's awesome! There's music involved? Even more awesome! That most of her friends aren't here with her is not so awesome, but she's doing her best to step forward with a smile anyway.
After some observation, she wisely chooses not to accept any of the snow-crossing gifts, and can be found huddled under a nearby archway, watching the mayhem from a distance with her notebook in hand.
"New magic, new chaos. Some things never change---achoo!"
And she sneezes. Maybe it's a little cold and damp for her fun observations.
familiar follies
Sunset is fond of her familiar, but...he's a handful. He's a floating mass of eyes and tentacles, pretty scary looking, actually...and he's very prone to bumping into things. That might've been your familiar he just bumped into, and a tap of his eye sent the victim bouncing away as if pushed by a forcefield.
"Monarious! Hey! Um...maybe we should settle down, huh? Sorry, I'm so sorry!"
She sighed, reaching out (carefully) to gather him close. One of the tentacles was safe to touch, she'd figured out, as all it did was send a warmth up her arm.
"Yeah. Uh. Don't worry, I've got him. All good now!"
wildcard
[Anything else? Maybe a nice cozy day in the Eiather dorms? Infiltrating the library? It's all good!]

"..Are you falling ill? I have a few herbs that might help."

"But thank you. You always carry those?"
no subject
His shoulders hunch against the cold wind brushing through and he rubs his hands together.
Eleven nods to her notebook. "Were you drawing or taking notes?"
no subject
She watched a student careen through the air, can of fire in hand, and sighed. "Looks like it gets out of hand pretty quickly, though."

Then...
"YOUR FAMILIAR IS SO COOL WHAT IS IT HOW DID IT DO THAT WHAT'S IT'S NAME?"
Say goodbye to your personal space, Sunset, because now she's bouncing all over it.

"This is Monarious. His eyes are apparently really powerful, but he can't see too well, so I have to keep him from getting into trouble. You can shake his...tentacle, if you want. This one."
There's one that's safe to touch, and she points it out. Its only effect will be a momentary feeling of inner warmth.
no subject
"Aw, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside... which is weird, because I thought that kind of thing only happened in cartoons."

familiar follies.
Yugi's familiar is nowhere in sight, but that's because he hasn't summoned him yet. "Nothing like mine. Monarious, right?" He looks to the smol tentacle monster. "Hey there."
Re: familiar follies.
"Let's not get too close, remember what you did to the librarian? I almost got kicked out of the library on my first day! Imagine what Twilight would say about that."
The thought washed over her with a sigh, but she soon shook it off. "Oh? What's your familiar like?"
no subject
"Peregrin, you ready to come on out?" Yugi fished into his pocket for a trio of dice, which he immediately tossed onto the ground in front of himself. Phoenix, ???, and Snake. The dice unfold to reveal a creature with a Phoenix Head, a Lion Body, and a Snake Tail. "Here he is. Looking good, buddy." He gave his familiar a smile who looked pleased by his most recent transformation. "I'm Yugi, by the way, and as mentioned this is Peregrin."

familiar follies - platypuses makes little puppy growls it's super cute
That is, until he bounces off a few feet. Aaron watches as the platypus (poor thing) lands in a snow drift. He calls out as he chases after the poor creature. "It's alright!"
He spends a few moments fishing the platypus out of the snow and holds Purble close, returning back to the girl. Purble seems quite content to stay where he is, giving a little growl at Monarious.
"Is that your familiar? He seems to be ornery." Aaron is amused.
Re: familiar follies - platypuses makes little puppy growls it's super cute
"He just...doesn't see how close he's getting sometimes. He has all these powerful spells wrapped around him, a different one on each eye, but he can't fight his way out of a paper bag. It's pretty dangerous if I don't keep him on a tight leash."
Familiar Follies
Meanwhile, Lena stood watching a safe distance away.
"...Do they make glasses for giant eyeballs?"
no subject
"No, but I should really look into that. He's constantly been getting lost. Maybe I could make some with magic when we start forging?"
Worth a try, maybe.
no subject
"Maybe. At least he'll look pretty dapper with a monocle."
As dapper as a giant eye creature with tentacles could look, anyway.

providing no one got seriously injured. Straight from the afterlife himself, he wasn't exactly dressed for the climate. As soon as he saw an opportunity he should go inside.Catching the sound of the sneeze, he realized there was actually someone else close by.
Spotting the peculiar looking girl, he removed one of his only sources of cover from the wind- his cape- and offered it to her. "Perhaps this will help until you are inside." Implying that now might be the time to chance it. It would be preferable to freezing out here.

She leapt down from her perch, biting her lip. "But you're even worse off. I couldn't."
It at least spurred her into moving, pushing herself to his side with a tired expression. "But I'll go with you. Can't let you freeze either."

and in his afterlife."Trust me, it wasn't doing me much good as it was." Despite his attempts not to shiver from the elements it was virtually impossible.
Since she didn't make a motion to take it, Atem reattached his cape folding his arms tightly across his chest afterward to hold on to any warmth that was left within him. "I've been observing the others for a while, I think the clearest shot we have to the door is going diagonal from our current position. We should be able to avoid most of the trouble."

Eiather Dorms - lmk if this isn't okay!
"It's warmer in here, if you want!"
Re: Eiather Dorms - lmk if this isn't okay!
Sunset and her eye-tentacle-creature make their way inside, spotting a roaring fire... or was that a familiar? She sat on the closest chair, pulling her jacket tighter around herself.
"So...housemates, huh? Hi. I'm Sunset Shimmer, and this curious guy is Monarious," she said warmly, one hand curled around a tentacle to keep him from going too far.
no subject
She regarded Monarious with curiosity, but soon realized there was something about Sunset that struck her as even more interesting. She paused, looking her housemate up and down a few times, before pointing out, "You're very colorful. I like your hair."
