February Event and Intro Log Orientation Week/Magic Mayhem The campus of Diatu Magicademy stretches out before you, confused and chaotic and surging with energy. Where are you headed? To your dorm or suite, to get settled? Maybe you need some food now? Wherever you head off to as your first stop, you have to deal with the snow. Helpful or proud students are passing out various magical remedies to get you where you need to be -- umbrellas with a nasty tendency to dump snow directly onto other people nearby, an iron tube that projects fire but appears to have no off switch, snowshoes that keep you slightly too high off the snow and thus provide no friction for stopping... Familiar Follies Familiars do not harass or harm each other as a rule -- but that doesn't mean they have no pecking order, and the week of Orientation finds them all jockeying for status and position as suits them. This can take the form of pranks, displays, competitions, or simple physical assertiveness towards each other. The goal is simply to be seen as superior by the student body. New wizards especially may find themselves surprised at this behavior of their familiars... Research On the Sundered With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.) Furthermore, they request to perform a few spells on you for testing purposes. It is, quite regrettably, possible that if you consent to this testing, you will come away with a temporary side effect -- a slight change of hair color, traveling two steps for every one you take, one hand moving about a second behind the arm it should be attached to, or being ridden by a penguin. No need to worry, these changes won't last more than a day! Wonders Await Diatu Magicademy is open to you in all its glory. Have fun!

Why thank ye. And that's right! Monarious is the name, helping all you folks is the game. Monarious chose to answer for himself, ambling his way toward the new voice. Sunset stopped him with a surprised yelp and a yank.

"Let's not get too close, remember what you did to the librarian? I almost got kicked out of the library on my first day! Imagine what Twilight would say about that."

The thought washed over her with a sigh, but she soon shook it off. "Oh? What's your familiar like?"

[puzzlers]

Yugi's surprised when he's yanked back, his head quirking curiously. There must be a reason she kept him on a short leash, but he wasn't sure if he shoulder ask. Although. "What happened to the librarian, if you don't mind my asking. It sounds like a pretty interesting story." Especially if it nearly lead to her getting kicked out.

"Peregrin, you ready to come on out?" Yugi fished into his pocket for a trio of dice, which he immediately tossed onto the ground in front of himself. Phoenix, ???, and Snake. The dice unfold to reveal a creature with a Phoenix Head, a Lion Body, and a Snake Tail. "Here he is. Looking good, buddy." He gave his familiar a smile who looked pleased by his most recent transformation. "I'm Yugi, by the way, and as mentioned this is Peregrin."

"She ended up swinging from the chandelier. It, uh...wasn't pretty. We had to call an upperclassman to help," she admitted, her face flushing. What a terrible first impression to make.

"Anyway, it's nice to meet you, Yugi. And you too, Peregrin....he's like a fusion?"

[puzzlers]

Yugi is going to give her familiar a look. "Causing trouble already?" But there's hardly any bite to his words. Weren't these guys supposed to be helping them?

"It's nice to meet you too..." He trails off, realizing that he hadn't caught her name. "Uh, yeah, kind of. He takes the form of three dice and depending on what I roll is the form he'll take, so the possibilities are pretty endless, especially since there are question marks on each dice."

[burningbrighter]

Ah. Sunset realizes what was missing and laughs awkwardly. "I'm Sunset Shimmer! Sorry. I get so excited sometimes, especially with all this magic..."

She'd have to get a better grip on it soon.

"That's so cool! What's the coolest thing you've seen so far?"

[puzzlers]

"It's kind of hard not to get a little exciting. Magic is fascinating! And it's nice to meet you, Sunset."

"Hmmm... I'm not sure. I mean, I think it's all cool, but I haven't rolled three question marks yet, so I'm guessing that is going to be way cool."

[burningbrighter]

"Same here." Oh, Sunset is so excited! She can't wait to try her hand in the classes.

"Maybe it'll be like nothing we've ever seen before! Or even something that's never been seen in the history of this world! Oh...oh! You have to tell me when it happens!"

Yes, this was clearly the most exciting thing she'd come across today. Sunset was beaming.

[puzzlers]

"Honestly, I think the possibilities are endless, but, who knows, maybe you'll be around when I finally roll the three question marks. The odds aren't that bad. But, sure, if you're not around, then I'll definitely let you know what happens."

"Have you gotten a chance to look around? I was actually hoping to explore the campus. Did you want to come with?"

[burningbrighter]

"Oh...yeah, sure! I definitely wanted to see the labs. I bet I'll be spending a lot of time there once class starts. The library's more of my friend Twilight's thing, but it'd be pretty useful too..."

She flashed an easy grin. "Was there anywhere you really wanted to see?"

[puzzlers]

"I can't wait until classes start." He's still kind of dumbstruck at the prospect of studying magic. "I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time in the library trying to make sense of everything, but I don't necessarily want to live there." He gives a laugh. He'd like to do well, but he's sure it's going to be an uphill battle.

"I'm sure I'll get to see plenty of the campus, so I wanted to check out the first ring." He makes a motion to away from the school.

[burningbrighter]

"Oh, definitely! I bet the town's full of neat stuff. And I should probably think about getting to know the people, since we'll be living here for a while, probably."

She gestures for Monarious to curl up on her arm again and grins. "But it's better with the buddy system, you're right."

There's a definite bounce in her step, and soon enough she's looking down at the surrounding districts. What an interesting shape for an island.

[puzzlers]

"That's what I was thinking. I want to make a good impression on everybody, because I'm sure we'll all be relying on each other down the road. And it definitely doesn't hurt to know some of the locals. They know more than I do at this point."

He smiles and motions for Peregrin to follow along. "Agreed~"

"This place is pretty cool, huh? What's your home like?"
