Settling in. Open to All

Living Quarters--room 042. Loki was...less than pleased by the items he'd been given, or that he had only a single room. It was better than the dormitories though, and he had made do with far less before. Still, the house robes...Red and Black, while nice, were not his colors.

His mind was already turning with the beginnings of plans. First priority was to learn the magic of this world. Apparently it was more effective than his own, and that annoyed him greatly. So learn this world's magic, get the lay of the land so to speak. Learn more about the major powers. Survive.

Find him in the common hall of the living Quarters, the Library checking books, or checking out Makerion Keep--since he is "House Ka". Feel free to mistake him for a different house with his green, gold, and black outfit however.

Personal Business--closed to Roisin Murphy

While settling in, Loki had not forgotten he'd agreed to help someone here. Roisin had managed to find most of the loopholes, while bargaining with him, and he was pleased. It was always more fun to work with clever people. Besides which, he truly did want to help her for now. Learning more about her unwilling passenger was necessary for his own purposes. Could the demon be friend or foe? How much of a threat was he?

The first step to doing all of this, would be learning more about how the demon was bound. Which meant taking a look at her tattoos. Sketching them, analyzing the way the magic wove through them--he could tell the general pattern, but not the details of the weaving yet. If the spells were 'clothes' she wore, he could tell the clothing was meant to protect and contain, like a coat-keeping body heat in. But the 'how' it kept the body heat in was what he was missing.

So he'll be looking for Rosh, while also learning his way around the campus.

Good thing this wasn't one of the times he was using the ladder, as Loki reached up. Moving to grab and pluck the small duck from the shelf. "Far be it from me to discourage a bit of mischief, but they do have ladders."

Though a bit surprised when he picks her up, she doesn't feel like she's in any danger, and so simply giggles as he holds her. "I know! But it's not as much fun that way."

"oh I agree, but let me offer you a better way so you won't get caught as easily." Loki had a sly smile on his face. "At least, as long as you're quiet. Hold on to that book."

With her holding the book, he could climb the ladder one-handed easily enough. So, climb up he did, and when they were near enough the top of the shelf, Loki simply placed her on top. Then pulled himself up to join her, crossing long legs as he sat like an errant child.

"Think of it this way--you don't want to get caught." Said with a wink. "People rarely think to look up unless they have a good reason to. If you bring a bag with you to stuff your books in, then you'll be all set up here."

Doing as told, she waited curiously as he climbed up the ladder. She caught on soon enough as he placed her on the shelf, and she giggled when he came and joined her.

"Oh, yeah!" she said, trying to keep her voice down. "It's a private study place up here!"

"Among other things." Still with that sly smile on his face. "Most people don't bother to look up unless they're given a reason like I mentioned. Use the ladder so you don't draw attention that might make others suspicious." Shifting slightly, looking around for a moment before Loki leaned closer so they could still be quiet. "Of course, you also have to be careful your ladder doesn't get stolen--but I doubt that'll be a problem for you."

Her eyes lit up a little as she nodded. "Oh, I get it! Like a covert op!" That she definitely did understand.

"Yeah, getting down is definitely easier. But if the ladder gets stolen, I'll be sure to get down quietly so people don't see me."

An eyebrow raised, and Loki studied her for a moment to try to gauge her age. Now how did she know what a covert operation was? "Exactly." With a pleased grin. "Now, my book please?" He still needed to see if it was what he wanted, after all.

She would probably seem at least preteen-ish, if he knew how to determine the age of a Duck person. "Oh yeah!" Holding up the book, she held it out to him. "Here you go!"

He was guessing, based on her mannerisms--duck people were a slightly new concept for him. Not surprising, but new species and all that. Taking the book he nodded his head in thanks. "Now what were you looking for, Miss...?" That brow arched again, waiting for a name.

It took her a moment to realize that he was waiting for her to introduce herself. "Oh! I'm June! And I wasn't looking for anything specific, really. I just wanted to see what books might be interesting."

And she thought the best way to do that was by climbing around the shelves... Delightful. Absolutely delightful. "A pleasure Miss June." Loki replied, giving a little bow in her direction. As much as one could while seated cross-legged on top of a book shelf. "I am Loki of Asgard." Introducing himself in turn. "There are probably lots of interesting books here, so you might be quite some time with your search." They were in a magical academy after all.

"It's nice to meet you, Loki!" Since she was much smaller, she could stand on the shelf without too much trouble to return the bow. "And yeah, that's what I was thinking too! Though I wouldn't get through all the books at once, of course, but I figure since we might be here a while it couldn't hurt to take a look and see what information I could find!"

"I would suggest you focus on learning where the information you might want is. Learn the layout of this library, how they organize things. Take note of what you want so you can find it later." How utterly charming she was. There was more here, Loki could sense it--and he wanted to know.

Thinking about that for a moment, she nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense! Figure out the system." She'll definitely work on that that from now on. "Thanks!"

"My genuine pleasure." Loki smiled; it was a genuine smile too, with perhaps a hint of slyness. "If you're going to do mischief, be smart about it. It's more interesting that way."

She giggled a little. "Okay! I haven't gotten into a lot of mischief before."

Trouble, certainly, but not so much mischief.

"Oh I doubt that, given you are familiar with what a covert operation is." Loki teased. "It just might've been a different type."

"Oh...I guess so." She hadn't thought about it that way before. "Are there a lot of different kinds of mischief?"

"There are." Loki confirmed. "Usually it's all meant in good fun however." Not that everyone had the same definition of 'fun'...

There was a guileless innocence about her, and Loki was certain it wasn't his unfamiliarity with duck-people that he was reading.

"Oh." She nodded a little. "I kinda thought that, but I wasn't sure."

So definitely less mischief.

"It doesn't always turn out that way. And sometimes, you need mischief for other means." Ah, so now he was on the right track. "Mischief is a particular hobby of mine." Considering he was the God of Mischief, it had better be.

She tilted her head again. "Other means? Like what? And mischief can be a hobby?"

"Mischief is what you make it, if you enjoy it." Loki winked. "Sometimes we use it for good, doing things others won't because they can't for whatever reason. That's the other means."

"Oooooooh..." She giggled. "Okay!" She'd have to find fun ways to do some friendly mischief then.

"I look forward to seeing what you might come up with, for mischievous ideas in the future. For now though, tell me about your world?"
