Settling in. Open to All

Living Quarters--room 042. Loki was...less than pleased by the items he'd been given, or that he had only a single room. It was better than the dormitories though, and he had made do with far less before. Still, the house robes...Red and Black, while nice, were not his colors.

His mind was already turning with the beginnings of plans. First priority was to learn the magic of this world. Apparently it was more effective than his own, and that annoyed him greatly. So learn this world's magic, get the lay of the land so to speak. Learn more about the major powers. Survive.

Find him in the common hall of the living Quarters, the Library checking books, or checking out Makerion Keep--since he is "House Ka". Feel free to mistake him for a different house with his green, gold, and black outfit however.

Personal Business--closed to Roisin Murphy

While settling in, Loki had not forgotten he'd agreed to help someone here. Roisin had managed to find most of the loopholes, while bargaining with him, and he was pleased. It was always more fun to work with clever people. Besides which, he truly did want to help her for now. Learning more about her unwilling passenger was necessary for his own purposes. Could the demon be friend or foe? How much of a threat was he?

The first step to doing all of this, would be learning more about how the demon was bound. Which meant taking a look at her tattoos. Sketching them, analyzing the way the magic wove through them--he could tell the general pattern, but not the details of the weaving yet. If the spells were 'clothes' she wore, he could tell the clothing was meant to protect and contain, like a coat-keeping body heat in. But the 'how' it kept the body heat in was what he was missing.

So he'll be looking for Rosh, while also learning his way around the campus.

And she thought the best way to do that was by climbing around the shelves... Delightful. Absolutely delightful. "A pleasure Miss June." Loki replied, giving a little bow in her direction. As much as one could while seated cross-legged on top of a book shelf. "I am Loki of Asgard." Introducing himself in turn. "There are probably lots of interesting books here, so you might be quite some time with your search." They were in a magical academy after all.

"It's nice to meet you, Loki!" Since she was much smaller, she could stand on the shelf without too much trouble to return the bow. "And yeah, that's what I was thinking too! Though I wouldn't get through all the books at once, of course, but I figure since we might be here a while it couldn't hurt to take a look and see what information I could find!"

"I would suggest you focus on learning where the information you might want is. Learn the layout of this library, how they organize things. Take note of what you want so you can find it later." How utterly charming she was. There was more here, Loki could sense it--and he wanted to know.

Thinking about that for a moment, she nodded. "Yeah, that makes sense! Figure out the system." She'll definitely work on that that from now on. "Thanks!"

"My genuine pleasure." Loki smiled; it was a genuine smile too, with perhaps a hint of slyness. "If you're going to do mischief, be smart about it. It's more interesting that way."

She giggled a little. "Okay! I haven't gotten into a lot of mischief before."

Trouble, certainly, but not so much mischief.

"Oh I doubt that, given you are familiar with what a covert operation is." Loki teased. "It just might've been a different type."

"Oh...I guess so." She hadn't thought about it that way before. "Are there a lot of different kinds of mischief?"

"There are." Loki confirmed. "Usually it's all meant in good fun however." Not that everyone had the same definition of 'fun'...

There was a guileless innocence about her, and Loki was certain it wasn't his unfamiliarity with duck-people that he was reading.

"Oh." She nodded a little. "I kinda thought that, but I wasn't sure."

So definitely less mischief.

"It doesn't always turn out that way. And sometimes, you need mischief for other means." Ah, so now he was on the right track. "Mischief is a particular hobby of mine." Considering he was the God of Mischief, it had better be.

She tilted her head again. "Other means? Like what? And mischief can be a hobby?"

"Mischief is what you make it, if you enjoy it." Loki winked. "Sometimes we use it for good, doing things others won't because they can't for whatever reason. That's the other means."

"Oooooooh..." She giggled. "Okay!" She'd have to find fun ways to do some friendly mischief then.

"I look forward to seeing what you might come up with, for mischievous ideas in the future. For now though, tell me about your world?"

"Oh!" She seemed more than happy to talk about that. "Okay! Where I come from, we don't have humans. All the people are animals like Ducks, and Dogs, and Bears, and other birds. Even though there are regular animals too."

She had learned from other students that that was actually kind of weird?

"That is certainly different than where I'm used to. Although there are likely alien species that qualify as 'animals' with no humans across the wider universe." Tilting his head while he spoke. "How do you differentiate the regular animals from the....humanoid? I guess is the best word--ones?"

"Oh, that's easy! Regular animals don't talk or wear clothes." She pauses a moment. "Uh...unless it's someone using a magical disguise to look like an animal. But for the most part, they don't."

That made Loki chuckle. "Considering I've been known to do some shapeshifting myself, I can see how that would be a very good disguise." He had used it himself before too, to pretend to be an unassuming animal.

She gasped. "You're a shapeshifter? That's so cool! What kind of animals have you turned into?"

"Many different kinds, although I do favor being a snake." A pause, and then his grin widened. "Actually that may work out best here...I could be mistaken for a familiar."

"Oh yeah! There are a lot of snake familiars! I bet you could sneak around and hear all kinds of things without people noticing you."

"I can do more than just snakes, too." Loki's eyes gleamed with potential mischief. "But I'm still curious about your world, and you, Miss June."

"I wanna see sometime!" she exclaims, bouncing a bit in her seat. "But okay! What else do you wanna know?"

"Whatever you think is interesting. I've been to many worlds, but none which were primarily dominated by animals acting as people."
