March Event and Intro Log
One of them seems to have had it. The renegade golem bursts into Kedrigan Hall -- interrupting classes and disrupting labwork to furiously seize students and scrub every last scrap of mud and dirt off of them. All the halls have been locked off with "Under Cleaning" signs, and anyone who enters them meets with the golem's wrath, as it violently plays a pre-recorded message about not interfering with groundskeeping and deploys a giant claw-like tool to grab the interloper and put them back on unforbidden ground. The professors, who are after all completely immune to the golem's attention by its very design, seem to think this is a good learning opportunity for students. Is it?
"Of course I'm sure," the second says confidently. Whipping out a wand from a holster on her belt, she sweeps her wand through the air gracefully, pronouncing several Osmarian sigils as she draws them. Probably. "See, that's a blue cloud--" Said blue cloud, which puffs into being as the last syllable left her lips, abruptly doubls in size. Then it doubles in size again. And again. The upperclassmen, who have been in Diatu for several years and know exactly what this sort of thing means, don't hesitate. Not even stopping to share a glance between them, they run like crazy, leaving the growing cloud behind just as classes let out and students begin to enter the halls. But... surely it doesn't have any weird and wacky side effects, right?
This month, the team has developed a Sundering spell that they warn is crude and unpolished, because the Curriculum is so unpracticed. They hope it will connect to your home worlds and establish a magical link they can build off of to open further passages. No promises! And to those who do undergo this spellwork... it has a certain side effect of confusion, as brief images from your home world flicker across your vision for a few hours afterwards.

- If you thread out one or more scenes based on the confusion from "Research on the Sundered", respond to the comment on this post with a link to that thread. The results of this will be revealed next month! (It is, we're afraid, not a regain, lest your participation be based solely on that hope!)

"I see. He must trust you to grant such a great responsibility." And she is welcome to go about her mission so long as she’s not collecting passersby to fill Valhalla.
"I do not know if it was an accident." Tenn lowers his voice; he can no longer be certain the Sundering spell targets are random. "But I don't recall anything out of the ordinary." Still, since she raised the topic, he asks for clarification. "If you are familiar with such portals, could you describe one?"

And no, collecting and protecting the souls of the dead was really more Hel's area of expertise. If however he needed anything fought or a source of freshly hunted meat this was the gal to go to!
"Why would anyone bring you here on purpose, do you think you were kidnapped?"
That was a concern, so much so that she nearly forgot he had asked about portals.
"Usually portals are glowing areas of bright light and if you should step into one you can be transported very far away from where you started. But if one opens up right where you are standing you might not remember the light at all. They can open and close very quickly."

"That I couldn't say. I've never had magic, and I can't imagine why someone would give it to me." He'll leave out that, if it had been offered freely, he may not have turned it down.
It would have been nice to see a conveniently glowing circle in the air proclaiming magic! But alas, such was not the case. However, Tenn curls a hand under his chin as he turns that second thought over in his mind.
"That would make sense. The Sundering spells I’ve seen demonstrated happened instantly. If there were no glyphs on my end, there may not have been any warning."

Skuld gave a quick affirmative nod.
"And that could still have been an accident. This is a magical school so maybe some one was practicing and their spell went wrong. That could have drawn people here. Or... in my world we occasionally have people arrive in portals from other places. When the Angels started showing up we had a group of warriors show up to help defeat them. Once they were defeated these people were able to return home again. So maybe it's something like that?"

"It would be nice to know if I was needed somewhere." Tenn concedes. Even as it feels childish, he can't help but admire her confidence. Perhaps if he was from a realm where such methods of traveling and magic were the norm, he'd have similar feelings. (After all, it would be rather boring if it was just an accident, wouldn't it?)
Having decided she is a new Sundered, and therefore a future classmate, Tenn asks, "I assume you've been placed in a House. Have you chosen which magic you will specialize in?"

She leaned forward just a little bit to regard her fellow classmate as he had said something very curious just then.
"I'm sure you are needed some where. Every one is. You just may not see it yet."
Would you believe I did not notice the different tenses until now?
Seemed he couldn’t escape with a subject change, alas. Tenn leaned back on his heels, smile slipping. She said it like it was so simple… even though they’d been transported to such a foreign place. What would he even look for? Usually, the people who needed him were the ones who found him.
That there might be something so important he was completely unaware of… was both appealing and distressing. He glanced away, his mouth in an uncertain line. "Perhaps."
