Eagull Eyes - Backdated closed log

What Eagull hunting and first meeting.

Xion has been making her ice cream munny mostly by doing Eagull hunting missions. It was odd that she wasn't forced to do a mission every day and only did them on the days she chose, but she tended to do them often, afraid to find out that it was mandatory after all. Lacking her Keyblade, she's been using a large branch and a fair amount of thunder magic. Also running. She was very good at the running away until only one or two were after her, to make the odds better for herself.

She never really thought to ask Axel if he wanted to join her, figuring since he hated missions, he was probably happier to not. So she worked on her own. And anyway, since Saïx arrived.... she's been very confused. Fighting the Eagulls turned off that part of her brain for a while since she had to focus on not being destroyed. Again. She wouldn't do that to Axel. So... she stopped worrying for a few hours and just focused on her missions. And after... she could join Axel for the icing on the cake.

Her usual routine these days. She really hadn't expected someone to come across her as three Eagulls cornered her. Not something she couldn't handle, but the lack of room to move was making it a bit tricky....

Kill monsters, get "coins", and bring them back to his maths professor. Seemed easy enough.

Link was missing most of his arsenal. He missed his bow and arrow and bombs the most, but, he was at the same time, extremely grateful he had the Master Sword and Ocarina.

Since he kept one on his back at all times, and one by his heart, it made sense that they'd been the two items to join him on his other-world-detour.

What Link wasn't expecting was to see someone already cornered by three monsters, armed only with a tree branch. Drawing the Master Sword, Link leapt in and took out the eagull on the person's right.

"Sorry, looked like you needed help?"

With one down and the other two startled she moved in to take out the one on her left with a stab from the branch followed by "THUNDER!" and a crash of lightning that fried the thing on the spot. The one in the middle.... tried to flee.

She let it go for the moment to give Link a very confused look. "I did?"

Fleeing low-threat enemies didn't get immediate pursuit.

Link gave a small smile. "Well, three against one is generally...I'd rather offer help and be wrong than the other way, right?"

She still looked confused. "You... wanted to help me? Why?"

Link paused, putting the Master Sword away for the moment.

"Why...wouldn't I?"

"Because I'm a Nobody," she said, softly. Axel was right, this place really was weird. More confusing than Wonderland, even.

Link didn't know what that meant, but, he shrugged slightly.

"Okay. Well, I grew up being told I was only half-a-person. S'not really important, is it? What's your name? I'm Link."

He held out a hand.

She blinked at him. "I think that still makes you half more real than I am," she said after a moment. She looked at his hand on confusion. Was one of them about to be falling? Maybe he was afraid the ground was going to vanish? She took his hand, confused as to what to do next.

Link grinned at her and gave her hand a squeeze and a shake before releasing.

"You're real. Just felt your hand. And you're here talking to me."

She was so confused by the shake and release and took her hand back. Even with the hood up her confusion was clear. But she shook her head.

"Not being real doesn't mean i can't talk or touch," she said softly. "I'd have been even worse at my job if I couldn't," was added even more quietly. She shook her head and focused. ""I'm not a Somebody, not a real person. I'm a Nobody." She rested a gloved hand over her chest. "No heart."

"That's...that's silly. I mean, that doesn't mean you're not a real person, just probably a different species or something."

He speaks from experience.

People here were.... so odd. She shook her head. "Nobodies aren't people. Most Nobodies used to be, before their hearts was taken, but I never was an actual person," she tried to explain. "I was created from fragments of memories. I was never meant to exist."

Link huffed softly.

"C'mon. It's not for us to say if we're supposed to exist or not. That's some...higher plane, higher power, level stuff. And just because someone loses a part of them, doesn't mean they're not a person."

The hero grinned. "And hey, if you like, no matter what you are or aren't, I'll be your friend, alright?"

She was back to being utterly confused. "You want to be my friend? Why?" Axel was her friend because she was Roxas' friend, though how she became Roxas' friend was still a little hazy. But people here... kept saying she could have more friends tha n just the two of the, Axel even said that someone could have more than two best friends.

While it was undeniably better not to have to fight each day in hopes of gathering enough hearts that she wouldn't be turned into a Dusk... there were somethings here that were so confusing it was almost easier... before.

"Well...why not?"

"Why yes?" she countered. "You just met me."

Link shrugged. "Never stopped me before."

"I... do not think that I understand people with hearts," she admitted.

Link was bemused, but, by no means upset.

She opened her mouth to reply when the Eagull who had fled returned. With three others.

She moved into combat position immediately, understanding that talking time was over. "You take the two on your side," was all she allowed herself time to say as she lunged at the more central of her two, stick raised high.

Link destroyed the first monster quickly, but, the second one was a little better at evading than its counterpart had been.

Xion was leaving his two to him, not sparing them or him any attention as she used a mix of blows from her stick and lightning magic to despatch her two. She was nowhere near as good as she had been with her keyblade and full store of magic, of course, but she is clever, agile, and resourceful, and would often use the things around them to get the monsters to trap themselves so she could swoop in for a punishing blow.

Link killed the second monster with a somewhat savage looking blow. He hadn't bothered to use magic for the fight, already using it a great deal during the day for his studies, he figured it wasn't necessary.

She finished her second soon after, and then finally looked around to see of there were more, and of he needed help. Seeing he was done as well she nodded. A few more and she could cash in for the day.

"I'll make sure you get credit for the ones you took out," she assured him.

"Oh, that's alright."

He rolled his shoulders and put the Master Sword away.
