Xion has been making her ice cream munny mostly by doing Eagull hunting missions. It was odd that she wasn't forced to do a mission every day and only did them on the days she chose, but she tended to do them often, afraid to find out that it was mandatory after all. Lacking her Keyblade, she's been using a large branch and a fair amount of thunder magic. Also running. She was very good at the running away until only one or two were after her, to make the odds better for herself.

She never really thought to ask Axel if he wanted to join her, figuring since he hated missions, he was probably happier to not. So she worked on her own. And anyway, since Saïx arrived.... she's been very confused. Fighting the Eagulls turned off that part of her brain for a while since she had to focus on not being destroyed. Again. She wouldn't do that to Axel. So... she stopped worrying for a few hours and just focused on her missions. And after... she could join Axel for the icing on the cake.

Her usual routine these days. She really hadn't expected someone to come across her as three Eagulls cornered her. Not something she couldn't handle, but the lack of room to move was making it a bit tricky....

"You argue too much not to be a person."

"....What?" She couldn't. He made as little sense as Noa did.

"If you really weren't a person, you wouldn't argue. You can argue your point of view."

Link smiled. "Anyway, you seem nice."

"I... am not sure you are right about that..." she said, frowning a bit. "How... do I seem.... nice?"

"You haven't yelled at me or called me names and warned me about incoming monsters."

The bar was decidedly low.

"How... does that make me nice?" That mostly made her not Saïx or Xemnas. By that standard, Xigbar was nice. "Am I misunderstanding what nice means?" That was always possible.

His standards were his own. Link was quick to trust, until someone gave him a reason not to.

"Nah, just consider it my being an excellent judge of character."

She was so confused. So very confused.

Not intending to add to that confusion, but, unsure what else to say, Link gave her a huge, genuine, smile.

She... wasn't sure of what she should be doing so... "Should we go hunt more Eagulls?"

"Sure, if you like!"

She gave him a small shrug. It didn't much matter either way, she just wasn't sure what else to say.

Link tilted his head. "Do...you want help? Or do you want to fight 'em alone?"

She shrugged again. Since when did it matter what she wanted? This place really was weird.

"You're not gonna hurt my feelings," Link reassured her.

"Feelings can be... hurt?"

Link blinked at her. "Sometimes, yeah? If someone says something mean or stuff?"

She considered that, pensive. All the horrible things that had been said to and about her. But she didn't have any feelings to hurt. So... did it matter?

"Is... that a heart thing?" she asked softly.

"I don't know," Link shrugged. "Does it matter?"

She shrugged. "I don't know if it does," she said softly, looking at her gloves. "Axel says I still have a lot I need to learn. He says that I know a lot more than most people my age, but that there are somethings I should know that I don't and somethings that I know are wrong. He's been trying to help me learn."

"Isn't that why we're all at school? To learn stuff we don't know?"

Link smiled. "I mean, I'm okay with weapons, but, I sure don't know half the stuff we're learning. Or, uh, didn't know until they taught us."

"But none of those things seem to be things that I need to know. Even the class that teaches how to make potions doesn't teach potions that are useful like healing potions or eathers." If there was a class on how to deal with people with hearts, or on what to do if an old enemy turns up claiming to be your best friend's best friend... those could be useful classes. Histories about this world and math and such had no interest to her, no bearing on her reality.

"Hey, I think us not exploding is a pretty useful thing."

Link brightened. "And they'll probably eventually teach us healing potions, I bet!"

"Would it really matter if I did?" she asked, softly.

Link looked astounded. "Of--of course it would! You're a student here like everyone else. Your friends and teachers would be really upset if something happened to you."
