February Event and Intro Log
Orientation Week/Magic Mayhem
The campus of Diatu Magicademy stretches out before you, confused and chaotic and surging with energy. Where are you headed? To your dorm or suite, to get settled? Maybe you need some food now? Wherever you head off to as your first stop, you have to deal with the snow. Helpful or proud students are passing out various magical remedies to get you where you need to be -- umbrellas with a nasty tendency to dump snow directly onto other people nearby, an iron tube that projects fire but appears to have no off switch, snowshoes that keep you slightly too high off the snow and thus provide no friction for stopping...
Familiar Follies
Familiars do not harass or harm each other as a rule -- but that doesn't mean they have no pecking order, and the week of Orientation finds them all jockeying for status and position as suits them. This can take the form of pranks, displays, competitions, or simple physical assertiveness towards each other. The goal is simply to be seen as superior by the student body. New wizards especially may find themselves surprised at this behavior of their familiars...
Research On the Sundered
With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.)
Furthermore, they request to perform a few spells on you for testing purposes. It is, quite regrettably, possible that if you consent to this testing, you will come away with a temporary side effect -- a slight change of hair color, traveling two steps for every one you take, one hand moving about a second behind the arm it should be attached to, or being ridden by a penguin. No need to worry, these changes won't last more than a day!

"Truly, I am sorry for this, I really don't know why he's doing this." Assuming Capricius was even a he to start with. The two needed to find a better way to communicate before that could be cleared up. Not getting the acknowledgement it wanted was frustrating to the familiar so it would have placed the creatures down at this point however it didn't want it to look like that decision was made by this Ballet.
"Put. Them. Down." Only after a few more moments did the crystal give up on it's antics, slowly lowering the various cats, rats and what have you to the floor below.

"I-It's not your fault. I'm sorry about Ballet too."
The ground rippled with what sounded like a snort, more smoke rising into the air that Fluttershy quickly fanned away. Once the other familiars were back on the ground, Fluttershy gently tapped her foot.
"Ballet...you should apologize too."
There was a pause, then a shadow from underground slowly rose until the whale-like creature emerged, looking at them both with its one good eye, the other hidden underneath a black eyepatch.
"...my apologies."
no subject
"I could hardly fault your creature for taking exception with mine's disgraceful conduct."
Capricius completed a swift spin in the air, it's faceted sides glinting as it caught the light. Again, Atem wasn't sure how to read the action. The important thing was this nonsense was winding down.
"Remarkable!" He explained as the girl's familiar phased through the floor without dislocating a thing. Then to top it off... it could speak? In a language they could understand no less? "All is forgiven, right Capricius?". His familiar rang out with a delightful chiming sounds
. It sounded like it could have been an apology but in actuality it was something snarky along the lines of 'I'm sorry you smell worse than sulfur'. It wasn't exactly nice, no.

"Ballet..."
It was a gentle tone, but a warning nonetheless. With another snort, the whale does settle down, but not without blowing another puff of smoke.
With a sigh, Fluttershy fanned the air to rid the smoke again.
"Sorry...Um...M-My name's Fluttershy."
Might as well introduce themselves, right?
no subject
He tried to help her fan the smoke away once more finding it peculiar that if everything had been settled Ballet should still be upset. Perhaps, he was starting to suspect his own familiar might be trying to pull the papyrus over his eyes.
"....... I wonder.... if I should not be the one saying sorry once more." Shooting Capricius a discerning look but the crystal just floated there without adding anything to either out itself nor exonerate it's involvement. "Atem, it's nice to meet you although I wish it was under different circumstances."
no subject
"I-It's okay...maybe they just need to get used to each other too." At least, she hoped that was the case. "It's nice to meet you too, Atem. At least no one was hurt?"
That was always a good thing.
no subject
"I'm sure that must be it, this is a new situation for all of us." Familiar and student alike. Looking around the room once more. "It would appear that way." Which yes, was a very good thing.
"This is all going to take some getting used to."

"I'm from a town called Canterlot. Though I grew up in a different town for a few years before moving there."
no subject
"Canterlot, how interesting. It's like a variant of Camelot." The mythological castle he was decidedly more familiar with.
and not just because there had been a whole series of cards based on the Arthurian legends, but it certainly didn't hurt. "I'm from Egypt myself.""Capricius, won't you come a little closer to greet Fluttershy?" Giving a brief spin, the gemstone floated closer to Fluttershy affording her a better look.
no subject
"You're quite stunning," she marveled. Rarity would've been absolutely enchanted with him because of his gem-like appearance, but Fluttershy found herself wondering if it was like a shell of some kind. She raised her hand a bit, holding it up in the air but not touching him yet, to see if he would let her pet him.
Looking over at Atem again, she smiled. "Oh wow, all the way from Egypt? I've always kind of wanted to visit there." If only because of how often they learned about it in history. "What's it like?"
