February Event and Intro Log
Orientation Week/Magic Mayhem
The campus of Diatu Magicademy stretches out before you, confused and chaotic and surging with energy. Where are you headed? To your dorm or suite, to get settled? Maybe you need some food now? Wherever you head off to as your first stop, you have to deal with the snow. Helpful or proud students are passing out various magical remedies to get you where you need to be -- umbrellas with a nasty tendency to dump snow directly onto other people nearby, an iron tube that projects fire but appears to have no off switch, snowshoes that keep you slightly too high off the snow and thus provide no friction for stopping...
Familiar Follies
Familiars do not harass or harm each other as a rule -- but that doesn't mean they have no pecking order, and the week of Orientation finds them all jockeying for status and position as suits them. This can take the form of pranks, displays, competitions, or simple physical assertiveness towards each other. The goal is simply to be seen as superior by the student body. New wizards especially may find themselves surprised at this behavior of their familiars...
Research On the Sundered
With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.)
Furthermore, they request to perform a few spells on you for testing purposes. It is, quite regrettably, possible that if you consent to this testing, you will come away with a temporary side effect -- a slight change of hair color, traveling two steps for every one you take, one hand moving about a second behind the arm it should be attached to, or being ridden by a penguin. No need to worry, these changes won't last more than a day!

"Only centuries, huh?" Color her not impressed. Clearly, there was some ignorance as to who she was. "I eagerly await the day when your ego catches up with you." Preferably when you make your own journey to the land of the dead and once more gaze upon it's leader. It was for this reason that Hel did not in fact supply her name. "You're not worthy of becoming someone's rival." All of this would be rather amusing if she wasn't still being snowed upon, and feeling goosebumps running up and down her arms and legs. "You say that as if I've never done so before, but as we already covered all of our skills have been stripped from us, so your pathetic attempt to somehow shame me or discipline me is in vain." There was still enough of the cloth between here and the door that she could sort of hop across it. Normally she could have spread it herself with magic or simply levitated over the ground and have done with it.
Had V been at a different canon point your character's identity would actually be quite alarming.
"I think you underestimate my natural defenses. As my race has not been stripped from me, only my spell slots, I feel you will be quite disheartened upon your first attempt to harm me, so no I do not think that retaliation will be unduly difficult. Unlike you I am neither bothered by the cold nor am I particularly seeking to subjugate random people who have the misfortune to cross my path. I do believe that efforts spent to disabuse someone of that particular habit is only time wasted if there is, in fact, no chance of that person ever growing or bettering. Unless of course one is having the seemingly futile argument anyway in order to give one's allies a chance to move into flanking position for a sneak attack."
"Uh... no one is coming," Willard said, from V's shoulder.
"Clearly I have been spending too much time with the Bard, expecting that for once the laws of drama might actually be of some marginal benefit to those actually trying to save the known universe!" V's hands flew up in frustration.
Mostly, though, this was because V really did not want to think about the day V's ego caught up, since that day was recently passed and worse than unpleasant. V's immortal soul was doomed for a short but crucial time in exchange for the power to feed that ego.
"But as I have been recently reminded, the attempt to do good is not in vain, even if one fails to succeed, or succeeds at positive goals that were not one's attempt. Perhaps I cannot rehabilitate you, but perhaps my standing up to you has empowered others to follow my example and refuse to do your bidding simply because you have bade it."
Missed opportunity, but it's all good!
As V began to pontificate, Hel was making her way over to the door carefully planning her footsteps as not to step on the snow. Once she reached the other side, she leaned over to start winding up the infinity cloth showing as much patience for it as she had for the walk over. It would have been swifter to severe the cloth, the excess would disappear, and she could just unfold more material when she needed it again.
Righting herself she looked toward the stranger, arching an eyebrow. "Oh- are you still here?" It was as if, Hel hadn't heard a single word. She probably had, but what would be more irritating than someone straight up ignoring you while you were trying to "rehabilitate" or lecture them. With that, she walked inside the building and started trying to strain the water out of her long hair.
Canon updates will be interesting... >.>
V was not put off by having been apparently ignored, and was a bit surprised that the other person was at the door, but that was about it. Sadly, V was used to people tuning out.
"Quite. And I notice that you are as well, where as you could have easily walked inside, rather than waiting for me to finish." V smirked, smugly.
Oh boy XD
Leaving the small, strange little person she started walking around the foyer looking for some information on the dorms. The sooner she could find her room, the sooner she could see about making herself look more presentable and less like a drenched rat.
Thank you for the thread.
Thank you as well, sorry Hel just wasn't having it at the end but I enjoyed it!
It took some doing but Hel soon discovered where the Gekronus Maius dorms were, never fully appreciating the irony of having been assigned to this house.
