February Event and Intro Log Orientation Week/Magic Mayhem The campus of Diatu Magicademy stretches out before you, confused and chaotic and surging with energy. Where are you headed? To your dorm or suite, to get settled? Maybe you need some food now? Wherever you head off to as your first stop, you have to deal with the snow. Helpful or proud students are passing out various magical remedies to get you where you need to be -- umbrellas with a nasty tendency to dump snow directly onto other people nearby, an iron tube that projects fire but appears to have no off switch, snowshoes that keep you slightly too high off the snow and thus provide no friction for stopping... Familiar Follies Familiars do not harass or harm each other as a rule -- but that doesn't mean they have no pecking order, and the week of Orientation finds them all jockeying for status and position as suits them. This can take the form of pranks, displays, competitions, or simple physical assertiveness towards each other. The goal is simply to be seen as superior by the student body. New wizards especially may find themselves surprised at this behavior of their familiars... Research On the Sundered With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.) Furthermore, they request to perform a few spells on you for testing purposes. It is, quite regrettably, possible that if you consent to this testing, you will come away with a temporary side effect -- a slight change of hair color, traveling two steps for every one you take, one hand moving about a second behind the arm it should be attached to, or being ridden by a penguin. No need to worry, these changes won't last more than a day! Wonders Await Diatu Magicademy is open to you in all its glory. Have fun!

"Dude, get some glitter and some silver lycra and you'd be great at a rave," he says, still shaking off the giggles.

"I'm Rin, you got plucked outta your universe too?"

[puzzlers]

"I wonder if I could find some glitter. There's got to be some around here somewhere. I spoke to someone earlier that said a party probably wouldn't be a half bad idea considering we were all just plucked from home by a spell gone wrong." So that should answer his next question!

"It's nice to meet you, Rin, I'm Yugi. But, yeah, one minute I'm back home and the next I'm here. Not my kind of wake up call, if I'm being honest."

[bluebloodyblazes]

"Maybe they can just cast another spell to make a shitton of Glitter," he sniggers.

"I'll be honest, when we got here I was just waiting for someone to pop out from behind a wall like 'Gotcha!', you feel me?" He sticks his hands out in the universal gesture of surprise and puts on a silly face.

"But no dice, apparently," he scoffs, "Looks like you an' I are stuck here for the long haul, Yugi."

[puzzlers]

"True. There are probably magical spells for just about anything. I wonder if they'll teach us them." Probably not off that bat, but one can hope, right?

"I know exactly what you mean. It was almost like we'd been punk'd. It's kind of the reason I'd volunteered to help in the first place. As soon as I realized, hey, we're actually stuck here I thought they might be trying to find a way to remedy that and then, well," Points to his hair. "this."

"Hopefully not too long a haul, since I'm sure you've got to get home too, but, yeah, definitely seems like we're stuck here until they figure out what's what." He takes a look around, "And that could be a while."

"Ha! If they have the spell about how to fly, I really want that one," he grins. Technically, he can already jump real good with his flames but flying without having to unsheathe his demon heart would be really, really cool.

"Yeah, I mean I'm not really sure what I was expecting?" He holds up his glowing palms, blue, because of course they are. "But hey if they're gonna throw us a real party we're at least prepared, right?"

"Yeah, I've got a place to get back to, but," Well. He's safer here, he guesses? Probably. Considering he was on death row... Rin whips his tail out suddenly, looking for the bracer that would have held his tracker and death sentence... It's... not there. He breathes a massive sigh of relief.

He doesn't think Yugi would be able to see it... after all, it's not like everyone here has been affected by supernatural stuff to have a temptaint, right? Right?
Wrong

[puzzlers]

"I want to learn to fly too! How cool and convenient would that be. Oh! Or teleporting, though I can see how that might be dangerous." Accidentally teleporting into walls, yikes.

Blinks, staring wide eyed at Rin's palms. "Did they do that to you or..." Did he already know a little bit of magic?

He quirks a brow, waiting for him to finish a sentence that he never does. "But?" Thought his train of thought is thrown onto another track when he notices that he's sporting a tail. Don't mind him trying to poke his head around to get a better look.

"Naw, they did this to m-Hey wait, what are you lookin' at?" He says, a little shocked. He can't see it, right? Totally? Must be a trick of the light or somethin'.

When it's clear that Yugi can see his tail when he sees the boy's eyes track the fluffy tip, he's left a bit speechless.

"You... shouldn't be able to see this, Yugi." His voice goes oddly serious, a far cry from the boisterous and loud person he usually is. "You got a temptaint?"
