February Event and Intro Log
Orientation Week/Magic Mayhem
The campus of Diatu Magicademy stretches out before you, confused and chaotic and surging with energy. Where are you headed? To your dorm or suite, to get settled? Maybe you need some food now? Wherever you head off to as your first stop, you have to deal with the snow. Helpful or proud students are passing out various magical remedies to get you where you need to be -- umbrellas with a nasty tendency to dump snow directly onto other people nearby, an iron tube that projects fire but appears to have no off switch, snowshoes that keep you slightly too high off the snow and thus provide no friction for stopping...
Familiar Follies
Familiars do not harass or harm each other as a rule -- but that doesn't mean they have no pecking order, and the week of Orientation finds them all jockeying for status and position as suits them. This can take the form of pranks, displays, competitions, or simple physical assertiveness towards each other. The goal is simply to be seen as superior by the student body. New wizards especially may find themselves surprised at this behavior of their familiars...
Research On the Sundered
With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.)
Furthermore, they request to perform a few spells on you for testing purposes. It is, quite regrettably, possible that if you consent to this testing, you will come away with a temporary side effect -- a slight change of hair color, traveling two steps for every one you take, one hand moving about a second behind the arm it should be attached to, or being ridden by a penguin. No need to worry, these changes won't last more than a day!
Wonders Await
Diatu Magicademy is open to you in all its glory. Have fun! |
OTA
"Woah!" Rin's staring wide-eyed at everything he comes across, jumping from place to place just to see what's up. He doesn't seem overly bothered in the snow even though he's just wearing his school jumper, cloak tucked into his carrier bag haphazardly. The perks of being powered by infernal flames, right?
"Hey, what's that?" He goes up and asks literally anyone, pointing at their familiar, their clothes, the cool looking item they're holding.
Research
He'd declined the samples, especially those that asked for blood. He just isn't comfortable with someone having the Blood of Satan in some vial for god-knows-who to use.
He did, however, consent to spells being tested on him - so now he's walking around with bright blue hair that sticks straight up and slightly luminous palms.
"This isn't even the weirdest thing to happen to me all week," he laughs at the spell caster, but he's easily overheard.
research
"You must lead an interesting life," he comments, surveying his hands and relieved to find them ordinary. After a moment, he realizes he could actually make the same claim.
He hesitates when the wizard raises his wand with a contemplative look.
"Erm, I think that's enough for now."
Re: research
"Well, at least is just like, surface stuff that's changed," he laughs, looking at his slightly glowing hands. He wonders if the magic would stick to his demon form, though he knows better than to just try that in the middle of all these people.
"Hey, how long do you think this shit'll last?"
no subject
A difficult life, he guesses, sympathetic.
Eleven touches his hair, but it's difficult to bring it into focus without straining his eyes.
"I hope not terribly long. The magical effects I'm used to can last a few hours untreated until it fades, but my hair has never changed color before."
no subject
"Man, my dad never let me change it when we were kids, something about being 'Too punk' or some shit," he grumbles, because honestly how the hell could Father Fujimoto live the life he did and then turn around and tell Rin 'That's too punk'. Geez.
"Hell, I might even keep it this colour if I can figure out how. Maybe," he grins.
no subject
"My- one of my closest friends has hair like that. It's natural, though. If it does fade, you'll probably be able to change it by magic when we learn enough. Then you could have whatever color you want."
no subject
"Yeah, man, I wonder what those lessons are gonna be like. I hate learning like, theory and shit." The idea is not appealing to him at all.
no subject
"I hope we get to choose our classes. I don't know if I could make it through those kinds of lessons, either."
Orientation
"It's a platypus. What's that?" Aaron would point to something of interest on Rin, mimicking the teen.
no subject
"What the hell kind of Platypus is purple?"
Orientation
"I am a modified OR-15 combat omnic. My name is Orisa, and my purpose is to defend the people of Numbani!"
Re: Orientation
"That's Amazing! Where... Where is Numbani?"
no subject
no subject
"Africa? Hey, that means you're from Earth, too! I'm from Japan, but I'm guessing like, way in the past. What year are you from? You said you're an Omnic but what's that?" He starts to shoot off questions like a kid in a toy-store.
no subject
no subject
"I'm from Early 21st, so you're like, actually from the future! That's so cool," he grins.

Orientation
"That's me."
Clearly, it was explanation enough, right?
Re: Orientation
no subject
That probably wasn't the best clarification.
Orientation
"It was labeled as the Wand of Wind," she would have unwrapped its sealing cloth to show him, but after one wrong twitch, she'll refrain from doing so until she can practice in a more open area. "I've yet to master it, but it is quite a mystifying item."
Re: Orientation
Holy shit she was pretty. And Hot. Pretty Hot. Oh no.
"Uh-h, uh, Wand of Wind?" He stutters out. Smooth, kid.
no subject
"Fufu~" She giggles lightly, playing ignorant to his obvious starstruck(?) reaction. How endearing. "Indeed, good sir. It conjures up winds with the slightest movement. Unfortunately, I had not known this upon receipt, and inadvertently blown the shingles off someone's roof..."
no subject
"Awh man, don't call me Sir," he grimaces, "That stuff's for my brother and my dad," He does not want the responsibility that comes with 'Sir', no thank you! He laughs when she mentions the roof thing, though.
"Pahah, really? Did you get away before they found you?"
no subject
"Well... I suppose the matter has been long resolved," she replies cryptically, providing an answer yet no information about what has transpired. In fact, she changes the subject rather smoothly. "It is rather cold, is it not? Yet you are in good spirits. Most excellent. I am certain that can-do attitude will bet a great asset to us in returning the Sundered home."
