February Event and Intro Log
Orientation Week/Magic Mayhem
The campus of Diatu Magicademy stretches out before you, confused and chaotic and surging with energy. Where are you headed? To your dorm or suite, to get settled? Maybe you need some food now? Wherever you head off to as your first stop, you have to deal with the snow. Helpful or proud students are passing out various magical remedies to get you where you need to be -- umbrellas with a nasty tendency to dump snow directly onto other people nearby, an iron tube that projects fire but appears to have no off switch, snowshoes that keep you slightly too high off the snow and thus provide no friction for stopping...
Familiar Follies
Familiars do not harass or harm each other as a rule -- but that doesn't mean they have no pecking order, and the week of Orientation finds them all jockeying for status and position as suits them. This can take the form of pranks, displays, competitions, or simple physical assertiveness towards each other. The goal is simply to be seen as superior by the student body. New wizards especially may find themselves surprised at this behavior of their familiars...
Research On the Sundered
With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.)
Furthermore, they request to perform a few spells on you for testing purposes. It is, quite regrettably, possible that if you consent to this testing, you will come away with a temporary side effect -- a slight change of hair color, traveling two steps for every one you take, one hand moving about a second behind the arm it should be attached to, or being ridden by a penguin. No need to worry, these changes won't last more than a day!

Stealing someone's heart didn't sound positive, that's for sure. "... and what exactly is a heartless?" Daring to ask although he had a feeling he shouldn't. At least he had gleaned enough information from her that he didn't think she was purely suicidal. She had some cause for it though he didn't like the idea. Sacrificing yourself so that someone else might live- was actually a lot closer to some of the things he'd engaged in. Cough. Seeing it from an outsider's perspective he could better understand Kaiba's ire later toward fate, and Yugi's lack of closure.
"I see no failure here, just someone whose had the weight of the world thrust onto their shoulders." To which he could sympathize. They weren't so dissimilar. ".... but I still think further knowledge about your current situation is needed. If I'm wrong, there's probably a spell you could learn to wipe all memories of you from our minds, but if I'm right... maybe you wouldn't have to do everything alone, maybe in this alternate dimension there could be some sort of life for you..."
He reached out again this time placing his hand on hers. "Please. Just give it a chance... there's nothing you can do for your dimension at present."

"I don't even have my own magic here. How am I supposed to learn memory magic? It's useless. I'm just me. I can't even do what I was designed for, properly. All I can do is be forgotten and die. If.. if you think learning the spell is that easy.... then you do it. Please. Kill me, and erase everyone's memories of me. Send me to Sora... where I belong."

There was a question he couldn't answer since he had no way of knowing what spells truly existed here, at least not yet. "I told you before, I won't do that." An edge in his voice suggested his disgust in being asked to do the unthinkable a second time.
"I can't force you to see reason, but I won't leave you to this foolishness." Even if everything she said was true, there's no telling where Sora's memories would wind up should she perish. Apparently she hadn't considered that the memories might simply be lost at that point. Then this Sora she wished to save would never wake up. "Capricius, remain here....". A crystal about the size of a fist presented itself and hovered over the girl. "I will be heading back to the school while our tracks are still fresh, but the staff will be informed that you are here." At this point all he could do was leave it up to the authorities.
Capricius gave a few chimes as a response. He apparently wanted to take out the middle man and lift the girl himself. She was light and he could easily convey her back to the building.
If he leaves, she will flee, familiar or no.
She shook with rage and fear as he said that he was going to get help. Whatever that odd crystal thing was... she could escape it, she was sure. She refused to still be here whenever he got back with other people. That so many had seen her at all was already bad. She refused to make it worse.
Everything was on the line. She couldn't fail again. She couldn't. For Roxas. For Axel. For everyone. Riku said that this was the only way that she could help them. Naminé agreed. Xion had to vanish.
Then she would be followed.
Turning to leave, he had only taken a few steps when he halted to Capricius calling. Something told him that the creature didn't want him to go. Perhaps it could tell that the girl was ready to bolt.
Gritting his teeth, and balling a fist he issued an apology next," I'm sorry- but ... I can't let you do as you please. Not now that I'm aware of your aim." Was he doing the right thing? It was questionable. She might know more about how magic worked here and in her own realm than he did but his conscious wouldn't let him turn a blind eye to it. "Capricius..... " Saying it's name was all it needed as it used it's telekinesis to hoist Xion off the ground. It wasn't dignified but it was the best he could come up with. "We're returning to the school now..." Then he could turn her over to the staff.
OMG!
And then the words. That he was sorry but wouldn't let her do as she wished. It could have been Saïx there, telling her and Roxas that they could no longer work together. Reminding her that she had no value, that she was a failed experiment. She felt herself shaking, her chest hurting.
Here or back at the castle... nothing was different, was it? She was always just some pawn to someone. Something to be moved about as they pleased. And if his words and posture hadn't driven it home... having her body lifted from the ground by magic against her will certainly did.
"I no longer serve the Organization and I'll never serve you!" she snapped. "Let me go! I'm not even yours!"
He's really sorry okay. LOL
Not quite, but the guilt would have eaten away at him when he returned and he'd discovered that she'd given his familiar the slip.Little did he know what sort of memories he triggered for her, and the unpleasant nature of them. He wasn't a fan of the strong arm tactics that he was about to employ but it was the only option currently available to him.
He could only imagine the sheer helplessness she might be feeling as she got a taste of what weightlessness was like. If there had only been another way....
"Serve me?" Turning a bit sharply to have a direct line of vision towards her, his cape flapping dramatically in the air as he did. "I require no servants." Not here. Egypt was a different story. She rebelled with such defiance now, it momentarily reminded him of Marik. The previously reluctant tomb-keeper who had been charged with watching over his tomb specifically. The same feelings of loathing, and hatred that Marik used to project towards him, might also be the sort of feelings being fostered in her towards this organization. Those negative emotions let untended could grow and consume a person. "I know you might not understand this now, but I am trying to help you. Capricius, let;s hurry. We've all been exposed to the elements for too long." With that he led the way back to the school, their tracks were decidedly harder to make out now but he managed. All the while the familiar floated after bringing it's catch along with it.
Uh huh. Suuuuure.
That's what they all say!
"If you continue to flail like this and raise your voice than even more people are going to know about your presence here. I thought you wanted to avoid exposure?"
It was a weak method of trying to calm her down but the attempt was made.
"No one can truly own another person besides..."
Hey, she didn't claim she was innocent...
No she didn't
"Almost there."
The crystal followed along dutifully behind his master.
Re: No she didn't
And she noticed he didn't reply to her other point, proving that he knew all along that she didn't count at a person, that his words about not owning her were hollow. She wasn't taking orders anymore, however. Not from Saïx, not from Xemnas, not from him.

That was an oversight he would regret not addressing again. He'd already said that you couldn't truly own someone else, and he considered her a person so what more could he say? "I do wish, you would at least give me a chance before you assume I'm up to something nefarious....".
At least most of the other arrivals had cleared out. He approached the door and held it open for Capricius.

Striding inside, his familiar followed with the girl in tow.
"I happen to believe that all life is precious." He turned to look towards her as the door shut behind them. "That would include yours..."
"You're so quick to throw your own life away..."
Not like anyone else he knew. Cough cough.. Atem had sacrificed his life not once, but essentially twice in his quests to save the world.no subject

"Funny you should say that..." He trailed off thinking better of explaining. Atem was straight from the afterlife himself. "You seem fairly lively to me." Lingering near the door, he decided to flag down the first person he saw that looked official. They might frown on the tactics he'd used in bringing the girl here, however they would know what to do from there. Surely.
While they waited he thought to ask. "Do you have a name?"

She might be ignoring his question...

"I'm Atem," Seeing no harm in telling her his name, and perhaps she would return in kind. Although he highly doubted it.

"I never want to get to the point where I lose all sense of compassion."
Oh, good. He saw someone in very official looking robes approaching. It wouldn't be much longer now before he could leave this to the authorities of this academy. He only hoped they would have more luck than he did.

What... was compassion...? She wasn't sure she could recall ever having heard the word....
