[Open] To Lose Time

Who: Eleven + Anyone!
What: Settling In Catch-all
Where: Various
When: First few days/first week
Warnings: Possible spoilers for Act 2 leading into 3

1. Classes

Despite the urging to take up Draconic Knowledge, Eleven ultimately resumed his previous class schedule without change. And so, dressed in the deep blue robes of Eiather house, he attempted to settle back into the monotony of classwork.

"I recall some of this," he mused quietly, in the lull of instruction when they were meant to be working. Eleven himself wasn't terribly focused, writing sporadic and distracted. "But those memories are vague.."

2. Dragonfire Library

Given a need for somewhere to read and write quietly, Eleven found himself swiftly seeking out a library. While memory served to remind him that the Temple had one, it wasn't until he purused some of the more esoteric tomes of this library that he recalled why he'd had a preference for Raida's. Still.. the information he was looking for likely wasn't all that common.

Various books with titles featuring the word or concept of 'time' made up a small pile on the desk as he flipped through them, brows drawing increasingly closer together.

He set one down with a frown and a quiet admission.

"..Maybe these aren't going to be helpful."

3. Temple of Raida

He'd stood outside for longer than he should, at this point. His golden hawk familiar bristled on his shoulder, catching the light, then shifted to turn its head and preen. Eleven reached up and brushed his finger down the soft breast feathers.

"I should, shouldn't I? You're here, after all. I think that means something."

4. Wildcard

[ooc: feel free to make something else up if these prompts don't work for you! I'm happy to roll with most anything. prose/action is fine.

Also happy to accept TDM threads as canon if you'd like]

Not often. Not this pair of glasses. Tenn usually didn't mind standing out a bit in town - it was good for getting noticed and hired. Today, though, he wanted a quiet presence. He took the opened spot, setting books down gently and sliding into the seat.

"What in particular?" He guessed this had to do with the flow of time in individual worlds, but that would be quite a range of theories. Not to mention the magical potentials. Perhaps Starchime was more suitable for that... but if Eleven was here, he might be searching for older or more esoteric takes? Or something not suited for student eyes?

"I imagine the Headmaster would not want the students experimenting with that, no." A smirk caught on Tenn's lips; the pie war was not a deterrent, if anything, it aroused enough interest that he wouldn't be surprised if Birony hid those books for the time being.

"I'm not sure... I'm in Sundering class, but we've covered space as more of a related topic than time." Tenn reached out to turn one of Eleven's books towards himself and scan it. "It is a lot more theory than practical information, isn't it?"

"It's a good thing to think about. We should be considering alternate uses for magic, and how they may interact."

Tenn returned Eleven's book and then glanced at his own stack. Now that the spines could be seen, they all seemed related to old forms and pre-codified magic.

"I've been thinking that if Sundering is based off a dragon's magic, perhaps it is older than anything being taught in Diatu Academy."

"It was used by one of the dragons during the recent war." Tenn’s voice was deliberately level and matter of fact; he didn’t like recounting it. But it was better if Eleven heard it from him rather than making guesses from the street performances and card game tournaments.

"Maybe. Obviously, Sundering has been codified to be used by us, or we would not have a class here. But I believe the manipulation of Sundering demonstrated during the Three Dragon War may be an older form. Perhaps that accounts for the time variance?"

The hesitation before Tenn replied, and his cool, steady look, said more about his discomfort than his lowered tone of voice.

"This past winter, the ghost dragon, Grieve, emerged from the caverns and cast magic that caused more than half the Sundered to vanish. Presumably, he reversed the spell and returned them to their worlds." Which sounded fine, assuming everyone made it home – like Eleven. But Tenn wasn't so sure, this being dragons they were dealing with. "Following that, another dragon by the name of Mournless attacked him. Mournless claimed to have been the one who summoned the Sundered, with the intention of breaking Codified magic."

Tenn knew it was a lot to digest. Unfortunate how twisted and glamourized the story was getting out in the city, but such was the perspective of those who hadn’t actually been on campus grounds to witness everything. Though, maybe the ignorant were the fortunate ones, thinking that the dragons had been defeated.

"Ire came to the academy by invitation last winter. It was fortunate for us he was still here, since he protected the city." This place would be a mess otherwise. "Though I suppose the rumors are misleading, since he didn’t actually fight."

“Fortunately, no. The Headmaster put a stop to it soon enough.” Say what one will about Birony, but Tenn’s respect for her definitely rose after that. Regardless of, well, everything else she did.

“Ire’s here teaching, you know. You should meet him, even if you don’t take the class.” Tenn considered their stacks of books. He could glean more from it if he knew draconic history, possibly. “I was hoping to take it myself, but my schedule is full. And I’d prefer to stay in Sundering for the time being.”
