Settling in. Open to All

Living Quarters--room 042. Loki was...less than pleased by the items he'd been given, or that he had only a single room. It was better than the dormitories though, and he had made do with far less before. Still, the house robes...Red and Black, while nice, were not his colors.

His mind was already turning with the beginnings of plans. First priority was to learn the magic of this world. Apparently it was more effective than his own, and that annoyed him greatly. So learn this world's magic, get the lay of the land so to speak. Learn more about the major powers. Survive.

Find him in the common hall of the living Quarters, the Library checking books, or checking out Makerion Keep--since he is "House Ka". Feel free to mistake him for a different house with his green, gold, and black outfit however.

Personal Business--closed to Roisin Murphy

While settling in, Loki had not forgotten he'd agreed to help someone here. Roisin had managed to find most of the loopholes, while bargaining with him, and he was pleased. It was always more fun to work with clever people. Besides which, he truly did want to help her for now. Learning more about her unwilling passenger was necessary for his own purposes. Could the demon be friend or foe? How much of a threat was he?

The first step to doing all of this, would be learning more about how the demon was bound. Which meant taking a look at her tattoos. Sketching them, analyzing the way the magic wove through them--he could tell the general pattern, but not the details of the weaving yet. If the spells were 'clothes' she wore, he could tell the clothing was meant to protect and contain, like a coat-keeping body heat in. But the 'how' it kept the body heat in was what he was missing.

So he'll be looking for Rosh, while also learning his way around the campus.

"He's a cat. Big boy. Mostly black with copper eyes. And I put a collar on him, so he's hard to miss." Not that it wasn't a breakaway collar. Luckily for her, most familiars are canny enough to do things like...bring the collar back. "But yeah, he lives up to his name."

Isabel waved a hand at that. "Even if your questions are good--and you're smart and clever so I can't believe they're not--Dumar doesn't like to be questioned. He's a stick in the mud. So yeah, bound to be fireworks! Maybe you can teach him to think outside the box!" She laughed at the idea of it.

The biggest obstacle to Loki's ice cream adventures might be the names, as they're all death or undeath or cemetary themed. Though the flavors are described beneath the goth cutesy naming endeavors. Honey can also be found under sundae toppings, so he's in luck, there.

"I'll look forward to meeting him then." Whether he meant Chaos or the Professor was up to anyone's guess. The fruit flavors were only so helpful, as they also weren't that familiar to him. But eventually he found something that was a mixture of berries, along with hints of nut. That, with honey, would be good to try in his opinion.

It seemed that the staff was only too happy to serve up their choices--and Isabel tipped, and thusly was given last rites, which she endured with some amusement. She figured regardless of who Loki met, it'd probably be like a Chinese curse--an interesting time.

"I don't think I'd warn you, personally, off of anything. I can't think that you're not pretty much ready for anything, if you know what I mean. In a good way. Prepared. And if you're not, well. You will prepare yourself. I'm sure you've seen the major library on campus. The books are a little boring, maybe a bit sanitized, but for study purposes? You can find a lot of stuff on magic there, and a lot of times it's on topics ahead of what you're working on in class. You can't usually check them out, but the hours of operation are pretty generous, too, so."

"We can't remove the books from the library..." He thought that was what she was saying, but he wanted to be sure. "I plan to do what I must to catch up quickly." Loki was paying attention, even if he for once didn't have much to comment on. Accepting the bowl and a spoon, he let Isabel lead them to a table.

Then took a small spoonful of the sweet cold treat. Almost too sweet for his tastes, but not bad. He probably could've left the honey off.

"Wait. No. I'm getting them mixed up. There's two. The one you can't check out is the Library of Fire and Ash. It's restricted, but." Some of them had actually gone into it in the past. Snuck in, got out. She just took notes, but Isabel hadn't actually tried to take the books from that one out.

"I meant the Library of Starchime. It's pretty normal, like the libraries back home." The non-Magickal libraries that is. "You can take books out of that one, but the really interesting stuff is in the Library of Fire and Ash."

Meaning the topics there weren't safe and sanitized for their protection.

Another bite of ice cream, and he raised an eyebrow. "You do realize you probably shouldn't be telling me that information, right?" His mouth was edging into that sharp-smirk again.

"I could tell you and you could access it on your terms, prepared, or you could stumble on it and be all Dee-Dee: 'Oooh, what does THIS button do, Dorkster?' While I don't think you're that dumb by any means...I think some of the crap here could even give you a surprise. A nasty one. Let's say I don't want to see a cute green, black, and gold god-skwudge on a wall sometime, huh?"

She took a bite of her own ice cream. "Besides, they can't punish me unless they catch me at it. I don't plan to let them catch me at it if I can at all help it."

"Warning appreciated, and I do not intend to be caught, either." Raising his spoon up towards her, with a small nod of his head in thanks. "I've met precious few beings who can make me a...skwudge as you put it. Once was quite enough."

"Yeah, well, our normal powers, whatever they are, don't work as well as the stuff we learn here. So something big and nasty could get the drop on you and then we'd be calling you Green Jelly, not Loki, and that would suck for everyone. The people who like you here, like me, and you, too." Isabel nodded at that.

"I mean, I know Headmaster Birony sealed away the undead dragons, but tick-tock, eventually they're gonna come back. And I, for one, plan to be ready." She put one fist into the palm of her other hand, letting the spoon fall in her ice cream urn as she did so.

Loki blinked, but let nothing else show on his face. Wait, people liked him? She barely knew him, and knew more about the myths and what mortals had passed down than about him proper. Another bite of ice cream to give himself a moment, and watching her, listening once more. "So not only are the dragons back, they're undead as well. Lovely." He sounded so thrilled at the idea.

Isabel picked up her spoon and crammed it, laden with ice cream, in her mouth. She had the grace to chew and swallow it before she continued.

"I'm not sure because we were all being protected so they couldn't get at us. I'm pretty sure Grieve at least started out undead, and I think Mournless auto-resurrected himself somehow? But don't quote me for sure on that. It lit a fire under my butt though, that's for sure."

Loki might find her some night in the Library of Fire and Ash, studying hard and taking notes.

"Dragons generally aren't something one pokes on a whim or for fun." Not anyone with any brains, at least. "Do you think us arriving, being 'sundered', has anything to do with the return of the dragons?"

Isabel reached up to rub at the back of her neck, frowning. "Yeah, my grandpa warned me against messing with dragons a long time ago. He's got history. Not with these specifically, but in general, you know?"

She took a deep breath. "Yeah, I do. I think they're part of the reason we're here in the first place, actually. I've been taking history class, and this semester I plan to take the updated version with Professor Ire. Try to figure out the correlation. I'm not big brained enough to put all the puzzle pieces together yet, but I think our first arrival, their reappearance, and then the fact more Sundered are coming in now? It's all a part of something. Maybe they're trying to make dragons rule again. I mean, Ire himself doesn't want to, but...the others? It's a bad thing for humans and anyone who ends up siding with them. Unless we all can figure out why and do something about it."

"Interesting." Loki could think of a few questions; he wondered if they'd occurred yet to her? "Who else is studying this problem? Has anyone tried to coordinate?"
