March Event and Intro Log Golem On The Loose The rain never stops. Water and mud track all over campus. Diligent cleaning golems stomp about, mopping and scrubbing and polishing and then going back to do it all over again, and again, and again... One of them seems to have had it. The renegade golem bursts into Kedrigan Hall -- interrupting classes and disrupting labwork to furiously seize students and scrub every last scrap of mud and dirt off of them. All the halls have been locked off with "Under Cleaning" signs, and anyone who enters them meets with the golem's wrath, as it violently plays a pre-recorded message about not interfering with groundskeeping and deploys a giant claw-like tool to grab the interloper and put them back on unforbidden ground. The professors, who are after all completely immune to the golem's attention by its very design, seem to think this is a good learning opportunity for students. Is it? Horrible Spell Doom? "Are you sure you're ready for the test on Advanced Gaseous Discovery?" one upperclassman asks the other. "Of course I'm sure," the second says confidently. Whipping out a wand from a holster on her belt, she sweeps her wand through the air gracefully, pronouncing several Osmarian sigils as she draws them. Probably. "See, that's a blue cloud--" Said blue cloud, which puffs into being as the last syllable left her lips, abruptly doubls in size. Then it doubles in size again. And again. The upperclassmen, who have been in Diatu for several years and know exactly what this sort of thing means, don't hesitate. Not even stopping to share a glance between them, they run like crazy, leaving the growing cloud behind just as classes let out and students begin to enter the halls. But... surely it doesn't have any weird and wacky side effects, right? The Bala-inlota Parade (aka The Non-Horrible Prompt) To celebrate the start of the Bala-inlota season, Anastara spares no expense. The great parade and associated festival stretches the whole weekend, and the whole city puts on their colors and turns out for the fun. Enterprising vendors sell food, drinks, and souvenirs ranging from small and crude figurines to magical constructs that shine field displays onto flat surfaces so you can watch the action up-close! (Good luck affording that, students.) Practically any sort of entertainment you could want appears on the streets and canals of Anastara, and food and drink flow freely. Research On the Sundered With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All newly-arrived Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.) This month, the team has developed a Sundering spell that they warn is crude and unpolished, because the Curriculum is so unpracticed. They hope it will connect to your home worlds and establish a magical link they can build off of to open further passages. No promises! And to those who do undergo this spellwork... it has a certain side effect of confusion, as brief images from your home world flicker across your vision for a few hours afterwards. Something would be better than nothing.

[ he takes a seat in their lounge and removes his cards from his deck box. spreads them out on the table and starts explaining the rules. the cards come to life as he uses them too, which is neat. ] Think you got it? I only have the one deck right now, but we can just split it and play.

"I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. If they're going to make us play guinea pigs they should at least compensate us for the trouble they put us through."

"Aet et Calculum." He makes a vague motion before Rin scoops him up and then his arms are flying around his neck, because he definitely didn't expect that. His face flushes as he stares at his chest. "It's not far, t- thankfully."

[puzzlers]

I think I prefer the snow too. At least it doesn't immediately make everything wet. I'm hoping this weather lets up and we finally get to see the sun for more than a few minutes at a time. [ he gives a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. ]

I know the weather's not really doing us any favors for exploring, but did you want to look around? Honestly, I'm up for anything that takes my mind off what they've just done.

"Arrggh, I don't know," he looks away, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment. He honestly doesn't have any idea.

"Well, if it's a game I gotta find out how 'ta play," he says, focusing on the crowd and they're general excitement.

"Study help might... help actually. I've never been good at doing it alone. Who's the other person?"

I know, right? I know where my classes are, and that's pretty much it.

Flying

Rin was leaning back in his chair, artfully dossing off after having read like, three whole paragraphs of the advised reading he's been assigned for Thaumaturgy when movement caught his eye at the Keep Window.

At first, he thought it was just gonna be another ghost dicking with him, but when there was actually a woman smiling and waving at him, he overbalanced in his shock!
Rin clatters to the ground ungracefully with a (very manly) yelp.

She hesitated a moment, then lifted it up. Instead of holding it in one hand like a regular wand, she held it in two, like a crossbow, as she aimed it at a passerby.

"We'll see," she said, and a faint light shot from the tip of the wand, unnoticeable if one wasn't paying attention. As it hit the random stranger, he suddenly tripped, dropping some of the souvenirs he had been holding.

It seemed to work, if only because it was still a funny mental image. "No, she doesn't."

[Seeing the cards come to life as actually pretty cool, and she did her best to keep track of the rules.]

I think so. Might as well give it a shot.

[shiningkindness]

She smiled, and neither seemed to take offense by it. "Thanks," she said. "An owl familiar sounds really cool too, though. Do you think maybe she's sleeping?"

U-Um... [As they were moving, Fluttershy then pointed out to something some distance ahead of them.] Oh, there's a trash can!

[shiningkindness]

[With a smile, she nods.] Okay.

I haven't really, actually. I've kind of mostly stayed around the academy.

[She lights up at the sight of his familiar, watching as it transformed.] Oh wow...! That's incredible! Does he do that all the time?

[Then she smiles a bit sheepishly. That's right, introductions were a thing.]

I-It's nice to meet you both. I'm Fluttershy.

Rin's pointed ears twitch up as he skulks around the hallways trying to get to his next class, which may or may not have been cancelled, he doesn't even know. Weird golems and shit apparently aren't the norm here. Singing? He listens for a little bit longer, not sure if it was a trick of the mind or not.

No, that's definitely someone singing.

Lesson forgotten, Rin turns to track the voice. He can feel the power in it, and he wants to pinpoint it for no other reason than curiosity. Eventually he gets to the closed door the music is definitely coming from-

And steps back into what feels like home. Home, but... different?

Rin stands there in shock for a while, only breaking out of it when he reached his hand out to touch a nearby fence and his hand passes straight through.

"What...?"

"Aet, Alright I know the place," Rin doesn't seem burdened at all by Yugi's weight, easily hefting him up and walking out of the building. He also doesn't seem to really get that it's an invasion of personal space, but oh well.

Rin walks the short distance to the dormitory, using his hip to levy open doors- though at one point he straight up just uses his tail to turn a handle.

Oooh!

[Not as intriguing as vampire lawyer, but she'll take it.]

So with your new magic skills here, you'll be twice as powerful when you get back! I bet everyone will want you as their bodyguard!

[ he shuffles his own cards and draws a small hand, because they're both playing at half capacity. lena does surprisingly well for her first time and watching the cards come to life is what yugi really likes about the game. it reminds him of duel monsters and the holo tech kaiba made to enhance the game. ]

"But time is constantly moving!" Webby said without breaking her speed, eyes forward, even if she wasn't 100% sure where she was going.

"I want to get there and see everything before my next class!"

[Webby does have to reach, being a small duckling, but she manages to pay and order.]

That means nothing to me. Well... An Emperor, that's a kind of ruler, right? But I don't know what the Barian World is.

"I'd rather not be your test subject, though..." Peridot muttered, wiping her eyes again... Still, she sounded fairly resigned to this fate. They'd only known each other briefly, and it was already clear that once Webby set her mind to something, she'd likely do it.

"Oh, so a band of musicians," Peridot concluded, relaxed for a moment - then her eyes went wide. "Musicians banding together to perform! That's a great idea, I want to hear about this band of musicians you're in!"

[puzzlers]

Really? I've been going to the first ring pretty frequently. I should probably take a look around campus more, because I'm sure there's a lot to be found here too.

He does! The dice can reveal one of six sides and he always becomes some combination of what's revealed. Pretty neat, huh? [ peregrin gives fluttershy a smile, taking a few cautious steps forward to investigate. ] It's nice to meet you too, Fluttershy.
