March Event and Intro Log Golem On The Loose The rain never stops. Water and mud track all over campus. Diligent cleaning golems stomp about, mopping and scrubbing and polishing and then going back to do it all over again, and again, and again... One of them seems to have had it. The renegade golem bursts into Kedrigan Hall -- interrupting classes and disrupting labwork to furiously seize students and scrub every last scrap of mud and dirt off of them. All the halls have been locked off with "Under Cleaning" signs, and anyone who enters them meets with the golem's wrath, as it violently plays a pre-recorded message about not interfering with groundskeeping and deploys a giant claw-like tool to grab the interloper and put them back on unforbidden ground. The professors, who are after all completely immune to the golem's attention by its very design, seem to think this is a good learning opportunity for students. Is it? Horrible Spell Doom? "Are you sure you're ready for the test on Advanced Gaseous Discovery?" one upperclassman asks the other. "Of course I'm sure," the second says confidently. Whipping out a wand from a holster on her belt, she sweeps her wand through the air gracefully, pronouncing several Osmarian sigils as she draws them. Probably. "See, that's a blue cloud--" Said blue cloud, which puffs into being as the last syllable left her lips, abruptly doubls in size. Then it doubles in size again. And again. The upperclassmen, who have been in Diatu for several years and know exactly what this sort of thing means, don't hesitate. Not even stopping to share a glance between them, they run like crazy, leaving the growing cloud behind just as classes let out and students begin to enter the halls. But... surely it doesn't have any weird and wacky side effects, right? The Bala-inlota Parade (aka The Non-Horrible Prompt) To celebrate the start of the Bala-inlota season, Anastara spares no expense. The great parade and associated festival stretches the whole weekend, and the whole city puts on their colors and turns out for the fun. Enterprising vendors sell food, drinks, and souvenirs ranging from small and crude figurines to magical constructs that shine field displays onto flat surfaces so you can watch the action up-close! (Good luck affording that, students.) Practically any sort of entertainment you could want appears on the streets and canals of Anastara, and food and drink flow freely. Research On the Sundered With the arrival of the Sundered come those wizards engaged in research on their presence here, now set to investigate what brought them here and how to get them home. All newly-arrived Sundered students are asked to meet with representatives of the research team, to introduce themselves and relate what they will of their homes. In addition, the team requests samples of blood, hair, and skin -- carefully magically collected, and the researchers will sign in the presence of the Sundered a Glyphed contract that forbids them from using the samples for a purpose they know will be harmful. (They quite understand your reasons to be suspicious of this collection! And they will not compel anyone who refuses even given these conditions.) This month, the team has developed a Sundering spell that they warn is crude and unpolished, because the Curriculum is so unpracticed. They hope it will connect to your home worlds and establish a magical link they can build off of to open further passages. No promises! And to those who do undergo this spellwork... it has a certain side effect of confusion, as brief images from your home world flicker across your vision for a few hours afterwards. [ he might not be in the best shape right now, because of the tests the researchers ran, but there's no way he can ignore lena. he kneels down beside her and hesitantly reaches for her shoulder. ] Lena, it's me, it's Yugi. What's wrong? Are you alright? What's happened? [ he doubts bombarding her with questions is going to get him anyway, so he slowly tries to draw her close to him. ] It's ok. Whatever you see... it's going to be ok...

[ research on the sundered ]

[For better or worse, Sora has literally no hesitations about volunteering to be a lab rat. Any potential side effects or discomfort are, after all, small fees to pay if it means he gets a pathway home-- he doesn't even want to leave that desperately, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't sorely miss some of his friends. A connection is a connection, small as it may be, and he jumps at the potential to gain one.

He'd been hoping for... well, he's not really sure what he was hoping for. His dream eaters returning somehow? Getting back his Keyblade? A spontaneous phone call from Riku? What he gets instead is brief flashes of beings he can only just make out; black coated figures and heartless that slink in and out of his vision.

Needless to say, Sora's causing quite a commotion where he's at, twisting and turning about in a hallway and just sort of kicking and swinging his fists aimlessly every time a Dusk or Shadow flits across his line of sight. More than anything, he just seems to be frustrated with his inability to hit the visions.]

Ugh! Just hold still..!

[Unfamiliar as his surroundings may still be, Sora nonetheless feels right at home in the crowds of the parade-- all the noise and the food and the celebrations are right up his alley. He bounces from here to there with a nearly never-ending grin on his face, weaving in and out of the crowd with his arms absolutely full of as many figurines as he could get his hands on.

And, naturally, he has no reservations about chatting up the crowd, either. He sidles up alongside what appears to be another student as he picks his way through the festivities, elbowing them lightly to get their attention and beaming.]

Hey, do you know if they do stuff like this all the time? It's awesome! [They certainly never had celebrations this elaborate back on the Islands, that's for sure.]

Webby is instantly concerned for her friend - yes she has decided they are friends and Peridot has no say in this - and runs over as quick as she can.

Webby's eyes were practically sparkling. A team-up to take down a beast? Why, it's like they never left Duckberg!

"How long do you need? I'm aces when it comes to holding people's attention, both willingly and unwillingly."

[ he looks up at her and bristles, because he's afraid she's going to snap at him. he starts apologizing profusely in the hope of diffusing the situation, because his head is ( literally ) in the clouds. ] I- I don't think so. [ yugi stumbles back, his voice cracking a second time. ] I feel really weird. [ and he's looking a bit stranger too; significantly more feminine. ]

[Listen, if you think Sora's not impulsive enough to buy a highly dubious polish he doesn't even need then you'd be sorely mistaken. He watches Louie's display with nothing short of eager fascination-- maybe it's the energy of the rest of the parade that influences his excitement to some degree, but still.

When some of the (wiser) crowd moves on from the whole thing, Sora takes the opportunity to edge closer. It doesn't strike him as remotely odd to see a duck running a marketing campaign, of course.]

Wow! It can boost your wand's magic? [He considers this prospect entirely worth the price already, of course.] How's it work?

[Sora's a quick enough runner to have gotten out of the way of the cloud right off the bat, but once he spots the incredibly blue duck he kind of regrets the decision. Who wouldn't want to turn blue if given the chance?]

Oh, hey, that's awesome! Do you think they know how to make other colors? It'd be so cool if my hair was red...

You sure? What were you trying to do, anyway? It wasn't real clear from where I was standing.

[But he laughs, so it's probably a good-natured jibe. He backs up a step to not crowd her too much, folding his arms on his knees so she doesn't have to look up. Hard head or not, she still gave herself a pretty good whack on her noggin. Cliff lifts up two fingers.]

How many fingers am I holding up? I gotta ask, just making sure you didn't concuss yourself, you know?

Nope, none of that, I'm afraid.

[She wants that stuff to happen?]

Ack---Yugi!

[ Oof, that hurt. This is just a thing that happens now. Some weird magic stuff gets inflicted on Yugi, and Kaiba is there to clean up. He grips Yugi's shoulders to ease him back and stares down at him...

Wait. His voice loses some of its harsh edge, bordering now on exasperation. ]

What happened this time?

[Yotsuyu looks around for a bench; it's clear this one probably should not be going anywhere too far, too fast. She lifts her hands, trying to be soothing. That isn't her forte, but she's going to do her best anyway.]

What happened on your way here? May I take your books for now? I would like you to sit down before you fall down, you see. You look as if you might, you know.

[The young man turning, perhaps, into a young lass is slightly disturbing to her, even on a magically infused campus, and she doesn't want to worry him too much either, so she tries to be as calm as she can be.]

[puzzlers]

K- Kaiba?!

[ he hadn't meant to run into him! he was just looking to get away from the blue cloud like everybody else, though he'd run right into it, since the damn thing had formed just outside the classroom door. he frowns, trying to pull away, because at this point he just wants to get back to the dorm and try to figure out what's happening to him. ]

I- I don't know! [ his voice cracks, becoming significantly higher pitched and softer, as do his features, because he's probably looking more feminine. ] We need to get out of here. [ tries to push kaiba down the hall. ]

You don't have to tell me twice.

[ He runs at Yugi's insistence, looking back to ensure his rival is keeping up. He reaches back to tug him along faster, surprised by how soft his hand is.

Wait.

He doesn't stop until they've put some clear distance between themselves and whatever that was, and when they do he starts drawing a basic ward bubble around them. Then he finally takes a closer look and hisses lowly. ]

They've really done it this time.

[puzzlers]

I don’t know. I mean, ok, no I just left class and something was going on out here I guess and [ he looks to the blue cloud. ] that. It’s that. I think it’s some sort of spell gone wrong. I started feeling strange and- oh, uh, sure, thanks. [ he holds them out to her and then takes a knee, because she’s not wrong. ] I think I need some fresh air. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I just don’t… this feels… [ he shakes his head. not that he’s said it but he appreciates her trying to keep her cool, because he’s ready to lose his. ]

[puzzlers]

[ he's glad it doesn't take much to get kaiba to turn tail, because he doesn't really know what else the mysterious cloud is capable of and he's not really interested in finding out. ]

[ when they get a safe distance from the chaos yugi doubles over, trying to catch his breath. ] W- What? Do I have something on my face? [ he's concerned, and kaiba's not exactly helping calm him down just yet. ] What happened? What did it do?

[She had not noticed the cloud until now. And that. No. That was not good. And it still seems to be roiling towards them, albeit slowly. Thank the Twelve for that.

But what to do at this moment? Taking shelter in a classroom seems to defeat the purpose; staying in place seems foolish at best. He'd get a second dose; she does not want a first one, thank you.

For the first time in her life, she might actually be grateful to her parents for working her like a beast of burden...]

I do not think we should stay here until it reaches us. There is a door at the end of this corridor. I suggest we make an exit. You must lean on me, and put an arm around my neck if you are feeling weak. Hopefully as you say, fresh air will help.

[Nor does she really wait for him to give her permission, either, but half scoops him up to start hustling him towards that door.]

Normally I would at least introduce myself before manhandling you. I am Yotsuyu goe Brutus, and you have my apologies.

[ Kaiba carries around a compact mirror, because of course he's that vain. He has to make sure his hair and uniform are perfectly in place before every class. He hands it to Yugi. ]

Look for yourself. It's...probably a little shocking.

[ Looking at how winded Yugi is already...he should probably try to soften the blow a little? Maybe? ]

[puzzlers]

[ yugi might have said something if he wasn’t completely worried about what was going on, so he takes the mirror and- nearly drops it. he’s quick to fumble for it and shove it back at kaiba as he tries not to freak out. ]

A little shocking?! K- Kaiba look at me!

[Golem on the Loose]

[She might have been afforded a student teacher position, but this golem has, seemingly, not gotten the memo. Meanwhile, Yotsuyu stands before a group of cowering smaller children, glaring up at the golem itself, while holding one arm before the youngsters protectively. She has a fan in her other hand; that is pointed at the golem. It is growling about the mud the children have tracked in and is cleaning it furiously for now, but clearly it's only a matter of time before it turns its attention on them.]

Go. Escape through the windows if you must. I will hold it back!


[The Bala-Inlota Parade]

[The riotous crowd around her is practically designed to annoy Yotsuyu. She is frowning, being shoved from one place to another, and generally looking like she isn't having a very good time. She isn't. She had come down here to try to understand what all the fuss was about. It still isn't getting through to her, really. She does manage to get herself a cup of wine and back herself into a corner to watch all the chaos, but she mostly tries to keep to herself, a little frown on her face.

OH! So there was someone there! Brightly she waved back before flying closer. Skuld pressed her head to the glass, managing to create a very silly looking smushed face in the process, and made a pointing gesture towards the window lash. A very unlock the window could you motion.

[ yes, thankfully the cloud is moving slowly and there are already professors trying to get it under control, so it probably won't be long before it's taken care of, but it had already caused a significant amount of damage. yugi was just hoping that it was reversible, because he had a sinking feeling that this was going to get worse before it got better. ]

I don't think so either. I wouldn't want you to get caught up in it just because you'd decided to stop and help me. Let's go. [ he looks to the door, because it's not too far. he should be able to stumble his way towards it- though she, then, tells him to lean on her, so they can get there that much faster. he smiles, his cheeks coloring as he takes the offered help. ]

It's alright, really. I can't thank you enough for the help and I'm really sorry about earlier. I hadn't really been paying attention and- I'm sorry. It's nice to meet you Yotsuyu, I'm Yugi.

[ He is. He can't look away. Shoving his compact back in his pocket is an afterthought. ]

I'll force them to fix it if it doesn't resolve on its own.

[ Okay now. How does he stop Yugi from freaking out? ]
