September Event Log
Of course, the potential for mayhem is pretty high in practice. Shrinking clothes, accidentally creating a scarf 250 feet long... Professor Trammel has loaned them his familiar, a top hat named Decorum, so it is on hand to quickly deploy wide black censor bars in the event a mishap leaves you perhaps offering more in the way of an Anatomy of the Sundered class than you might expect. But if you work hard and give it your all, you might come out of this looking good indeed!
The theory is simple: Suspend an Intimation effect within the ward's construction, then make the ward manifold-responsive -- or in other terms, capable of shifting its focus from one danger to another. The Intimation spell predicts the damage and preemptively shifts the ward to full effect. Simple! Enjoy testing them. Since it involves hurling some things at each other. What better way to test a ward than practically?
Now, mess up the Sundering spell and you could end up discharging a large volume of water or stone or pudding out of midair at a terribly inopportune time. But don't worry! Several groundskeeping golems are on-hand to help with the inevitable messes. Also Professor Trammel knows how to clean clothing. You might need that help.
"And it will be the third Metacurriculum! Wizardkind everywhere will develop and master these powers that I have paved the way for! AND THEY CALLED ME MAD!" she yells to the sky, before flinging her hands wide and laughing maniacally. So! You get to start very basic: Modifying a spell to last longer. Pick your favorite spell, any spell, and cast it. While its magical energies still exist in the pattern your will has imposed on them, Modify them. A simple equation. Add 1 to them. Multiply them by 2. Whatever works for you. You don't get much more instruction than that, says the Headmaster, because you have to figure out how to make it work for yourself. More than most magic, this depends entirely on your will and your determination. Everything else is just trappings -- take what you want from the foci of Modification, that will help, but find your own path forward. And unlike every other lesson, this one is utterly safe. At the first sign of a spell getting out of control or going haywire, Headmaster Birony squelches it like a bug beneath her heel. Not even literally, for a pleasant change! |

Isa wasn't really the sort who was into fashion, not really. He dressed mostly for comfort, and the sort of outfits Isa tended to think looked good... well, whether or not they did was up to personal preference, wasn't it?
The sweater Isa's working on seems pretty mundane and boring compared to what many of the other students are making... but that may also be why nothing seems to be going wrong yet...
Pocket Summoning
You'd think Isa's previous experience with summoning portals between dimensions and summoning weapons out of thin air would give him an advantage in this subject.
And you'd be wrong. Isa portals fizzle out before he can even have a chance to test them, it's clear he's misunderstood a fundamental step in summoning. Perhaps because it's so similar to what he's done before and he's unconsciously trying to do it the way he's used to...

But just as soon as he took the first step toward his friend, a nearby tree positively shook itself and launched a cloud of seeds through the air. Eleven threw up a ward almost without thinking, then waved his wand in Isa's direction as well.
"Are you all right?"
no subject
He dusted whatever seeds managed to get on his clothes.
no subject
"I think they're burying their seeds for next year, but.. it's weird, isn't it?" He made it to Isa's side without further incident at least.
"And people think Yggdrasil is weird whenever I mention it."
Pocket Summoning
It's a lighter jab from Roxas, one meant more for teasing than to cause actual harm. Roxas himself was never that good at summoning the dark portals, relying on Saix or another Nobody to create one for him most of the time. But it looks like Isa's struggling with just getting the portal working.
While the two of them practice, Isa will no doubt notice that today Roxas is not alone. Today, he's got an orange and white cat with him, who is currently sitting comfortably on the nearby desk.
Re: Pocket Summoning
"The magic here resembling the magic from back home isn't a guarantee that we'll understand it right away..."
He leans back in his chair, to take a moment to reevaluate the spell at hand, and he does notice the cat on the nearby desk.
"Is that your familiar?"
no subject
The cat, upon being noticed, moves to curl into a traditional 'cat loaf' position. Roxas perks up, nodding.
"Yeah, it is. This is Sunset. I guess I never told you guys about her, huh?" He reached over to carefully scratch her head. "She's kind of been hiding in my room and mostly keeping to herself, but I finally convinced her to come to class with me."
no subject
"That sounds like a cat, alright" He holds his open hand out towards the cat to let her get used to him.
"Remind me to show you Luna, I'd bring her to class, but she's usually asleep during the day."
no subject
"Luna? Is that your familiar?" He knew that all students had a familiar, but now that he thought about it, he hadn't seen any of his friends's familiars.
"What about Axel and Xion? They have familiars too, right?"
no subject
He idly rubs the cat's ears as he continues.
"Lea has a rat, Smoke. ...As for Xion's... I'm not sure, I haven't seen a trace of it."
no subject
"A rat? Hah, no wonder I've never seen it. I'll have to ask him about it." He grinned at the mention of Smoke, but frowned and hummed at Xion's. "Oh, well... maybe we should ask her sometime." She seemed to be doing... well, a little bit better since their discussion together. A lot of emotions had been let out, and he didn't want to push hard discussions for a little while.
no subject
This wasn't a slight against Xion, but knowing her, Isa figures she would've needed Lea's help with her familiar.
"How's she doing, anyway?"
no subject
He nods. He knows it's not a slight against Xion, and maybe Lea might know something as well.
"Oh... she's doing okay. I mean, more okay than she was. I've just been trying to do things like normal to help her." She wasn't 100% yet, but she was doing better than she was that night.
"...How are you doing?"

Of course, knowing that and actually accomplishing it were two very different things, as he wasn't having much more success than Isa. He glanced at the instructions on the board and frowned before turning back to Isa. "We've gotta be doing something wrong," he said. "But I'm not sure what. I followed the instructions on the board, but..." He gestured at the table in front of him, indicating his lack of results.

Isa leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. It wasn't that he was giving up, not really. But where was he supposed to go from here?
