Don't know where I'm gonna land... [Mostly Open]

Who: Louie and OPEN, with a closed prompt for Huey and Dewey
What: The first half of June could have been better. Let's see how the rest treats Louie.
Where: On and off campus
When: From mid-June on
Warnings: None

Louie's Delivery Service
[Orisa is neither a broom nor a wise-cracking cat, but she's proven to be reliable, and extremely so. You bet Louie is taking full advantage of that, specifically by putting the omnic to work in his delivery service. There seemed to be quite a need for deliveries last month, after all - so... Problem, solution, right? That was how you built a business.

You need it delivered, and whatever it is, Louie and Orisa will make it happen! Louie cooridinates while Orisa does the actual labor. No one need know how grossly underpaid poor Orisa is... Especially Orisa.]

Uh-huh, uh-huh. And who is this going to, again?

Study Buddy?
[Louie doesn't care much about midterms, but he does care about not blowing up - so studying and practicing magic is a must, anyway. He might as well not fail while doing so. There's one huge obstacle he keeps running into, though: The library was not designed for a two-foot-tall duck.]

Hey, help me out? I need that book on Fantastics...

Shop 'Til You Drop
Ah, the smell of business dealings!

[Studying students deserve a reward, right? For Louie, that comes in the form of shopping in the Tenscore Kingdoms. He browses the forged and glyped items, almost as if he has his eye out for something particular. The search doesn't stop him from commenting on other things, though - he may not be taking Glyphing or Forging classes at present, but he can still value an item pretty well.]

Oh man, that's nice... That- Hmm, just copper, really? Ooh, this one has jewels on the handle!

No Rest for the Wicked (Closed to Huey and Dewey)
[With the delivery service started up, you might think Louie's conscience would keep him awake.

It doesn't.

Thunder and lightning, on the other hand, do. And that's what has the youngest Duck triplet waiting outside the Eiather House dormitory door. He's sent Cash, the rat, in with a little note addressed to his brothers that simply reads "Let me in! -Louie".]

Wildcard!

Huey noted Louie's face in that flash, which caused a crinkle of worry in his own. He wondered if there was more to it than the storm, but if there was that could certainly be dealt with later.

For now he climbed up beside Louie almost automatically, though that glance certainly helped with feeling "invited." Settling in, he looked at him in kind and leaned a bit, cocking his closest arm up some. A shoulder to lean on, dear brother?

"Well, maybe we can do it together. It'd be good practice for both of us."

He lightly rested a comforting arm around Louie.

"Or perhaps something with Discovery, to occupy our time." He didn't say it, but it might work as a good distraction for him. Anything to take his mind off the crashing storm.
goingbythebook: (Check this out!)

Huey nodded and reached up the sleeve of his pajamas, sliding out a wand. He held it expertly, already well accustomed to its grip, and skimmed through the Osmarius he knew in his mind.

"We could stoke the fire? Or, I've been working on a spell called 'Candlelight.' It's supposed to create a little glowing orb of light about as bright as, well, a candle," he chuckled softly, "although I haven't quiiite perfected it yet."
goingbythebook: (Whhhyy...?)

He smiled, thankful for Louie agreeing to join him on this. Then he concentrated, moving his wand in the prescribed manner, pronouncing the words of the spell as he'd learned. Light flickered at the end of his wand, swelled- then whiffed out like it'd been blown. He sighed, idly running his fingers of the other hand up the wand and playing a bit at the tip.

"That's as far as I've gotten."

He glanced alongside at Louie, then nodded. After a quick readjustment of his grip back to the proper way from before, he moved it just as he had the first time.
goingbythebook: (Actual squee)

He stared at it, then let out a giddy little laugh, as loudly as he dared.

"Louie! That was perfect, you did it!"

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-07-01 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
He nodded, and scooted up a little eagerly in the chair.

"Let's do it again! I want to hear exactly how you said it."

Maybe in another time and place Huey would be upset his brother was 'showing him up'- he himself was clearly the best of the three at magic, right? -but petty jealousy was only the sort of thing that rose in him when his temper did. For the most part he was so dang proud of his brother succeeding in something like this, and add to that the excitement of doing this together? This was the best thing that'd happened to him all night!

Huey smiled, then set to watching Louie, listening to the intonation of his words, where the sound of the letters fell into place. Together they went through the motions and then-

"Look! There's more of them!"

Sure enough, the successful spells had added two more orbs to the first one, floating in space there were they sat.

He smiled, waving his wand almost like a conductor's, shifting the spheres around and into a circular pattern, one following after the other.

"All thanks to your help! I never woulda gotten that spell on my own."
goingbythebook: (I know that I'm doing)

[personal profile] goingbythebook 2019-07-01 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
He giggled and nudged Louie right back.

"Yeah. You're not gonna charge me for your help, right?" Knowing full well he might've just put the idea in Louie's head in the first place.
goingbythebook: (Well you see it's quite elementary)

Huey couldn't resist quirking an eyebrow, the sly look on his face really hammering home just how related these two were.

"And what sort of trade would that be?"
