Who: Yugi & anybody looking for a Fantastic Foils clash***.
What: It's a very bad day.
Where: Anywhere & everywhere.
When: Immediately following his Discovery of what the Deathtoll card does.

[ yugi had stayed overnight in purifuel, but at the crack of dawn decided to head back to his own dorm, because one, he didn't want to get caught and two, he needed some time to himself. that's part of the reason he hadn't planned on going to class, but the distraction might be welcome. maybe. he's not really sure he's going to be able to focus on anything but how terrible a person he is for using that stupid card. he smothers his face with his hands, trying to keep it together, which is difficult when he's exhausted and guilt ridden. ]

[ could today get any worse? ]

[Oh no, that isn't going to work. Kuja is insistent. So much so, in fact, that he raises his wand and sends a small fireball to block Yugi's path. He won't hurt the boy, no. He needs him alive for this.]

[He stalks closer, tail lashing behind him.]

There will be plenty of time for you to take a break when we're finished. One little game won't kill you, will it?

[ oh... boy... ]

[ this isn't good. ]

N- No, I suppose not. [ yugi still seems reluctant to clash with this guy, but maybe one quick fight will get him to stop chasing him. he's not really sure why he's just got to challenge him, but he supposes he can try to find the answer out later... when he's not being assaulted. ]

Fine, one game, and when I win I want some answers.

[There it was. He couldn't help the grin that followed, some dark part of him that had been urging him on finally satisfied with compliance at least. He was going to get his game after all.]

You presume much, but I see you've come around at last. Now, face me!

[From seemingly nowhere, Kuja brought out a deck of his own cards and revealed nothing. He would have this victory. He had to.]

[ yugi takes out his deck and shuffles with flourish. ] If this is the only way to get you to stop pursing me, then I guess I have no choice. [ he has had a ROUGH month and this is the last thing he'd like to deal with right now, so forgive his plummeting mood. ]

I'll say it once more, if and when I beat you, I want some answers - those are my terms, do you agree?

[Unimpressed, Kuja grins, unnaturally sinister for who and what he has become. Even in his worst times, he hasn't been this unhinged. Yugi's mood only seems to be icing on this mess of a cake.]

If you can beat me, fine. You will have your answers. Until then, you'd best put your concentration elsewhere if you wish to have any hope of victory.

[ this is bad. this is bad. this is bad. this is bad. ]

[ but he's got to do something and maybe he can try to figure out just what the heck is going on. ] Fine. [ he takes out his deck and shuffles with flourish, then points it at his opponent like you would a sword. ] Foil clash!

[ there's a convenient table nearby so yugi sets his deck down and draws his hand. he sets a card face down and then summons a beefy monster to defend himself, his eyes narrowed from behind his card. what has gotten into this guy? and who is he?! ]

[If he'd had his mind about him, none of this would be happening right now. He hasn't ever seen these cards before, doesn't know where he got them, and good and well wouldn't be using them to harass another student. But he isn't. And right now, he doesn't care.]

[The deck of cards in his hand is spread out similarly and one drawn from the lot to bring up a creature made to attack. He'll play the defensive when he needs to, but for now, it's all out or nothing. And by the look on his face, he's loving this.]

[ ooc; lol, it's ok. sorry for the delay btw. i've been stressed lately. ]

[ yugi frowns when he summons a pretty strong monster, but he's not going to let him attack just yet. he's going to turtle for as long as he can... because he's still trying to make sense of, well, everything. he activates a light barrier when he tries to attack, a huge shield coming up to block it. it's capable of taking five individual attacks before shattering, so that should by him some time. ]

You're going to have to try harder to get to me.

(ooc: No worries at all! Take yer time!)

[If nothing, this only seems to amuse Kuja. The first two attacks are only there to play at the barrier until he can build up a stronger third, slowly amping up the tension.]

Oh, do rest assured, this is only the beginning.

I could say the same!

[ he sets another two cards face down and sets another monster in defensive mode. as soon as he does the two of them connect, beefing up both of their individual numbers to keep kuja's already strong monster from being able to destroy them. ]

You're going to have to try harder if you want to take me down!

[With that set, he sent out a second adversary himself to play distraction while his one continues to take whatever it can out of the other. There is no lack of confidence in him - it's almost as if he's so sure of victory, though he isn't yet sure how.]

Not to worry. We're just getting warmed up.
