[closed] you got a piece of me. and, honestly?
Who: Webby & Lena!
Where: Loch Lake
When: Early May
What: Webby gives Lena a gift! But there's always much more to it than that.
It occurred to Webby that with all the fussing and planning she was doing over the "protective" friendship bracelet, it was never going to be perfect. Or perfect enough for her, at any rate. Plus, given what she'd learned about Lena's fears and the fight Lena had with Louie, Webby ultimately decided that enough was enough, and her friend needed more than just magical protection - but a reminder of what was important.
So once all the classes were done for the day, Webby sent out her familiar, Jorry the snake, to deliver a message to Lena.
Meet me at Loch Lake in an hour!
"It" is ready to go!
- Webby :) :) :)
Why the lake? Aside from being a cool, mysterious place that Webby thought was beautiful (all three also described Lena to a T!) , she figured it was far enough away from the school grounds that Lena might relax, given Lena's inherent yet understandable distrust of the school.
Webby was at the lake much earlier than the note said to be, mostly to plan out the last details and practice what she wanted to say.

They knew something had, though, especially since they quickly discovered that they were under some sort of spell that kept them from talking about it. Knowing she was being prevented from talking about it didn't ease the guilt, though, given that she had promised Webby that she wouldn't keep any more secrets.
That, along with the fact that she and Louie were still on shaky grounds, had Lena feeling rather frustrated and upset, mostly at herself. So when she received the note from Webby, she struggled to remember what "It" was.
Well...the only way she would find out was to go. And so, at the appointed time, Lena arrived at the lake, glancing around for where Webby might be.

Webby was always so eager to see Lena as if each time they'd been separated had lasted a millennia. She managed to skid to a stop, her hands behind her back - but there was a little something extra with Webby besides the gift. Around her skirt were three items tucked away in a crude belt. One was usual, her wand. Two were odd-looking knives.
"Thanks for coming! I didn't think I could wait any longer for this... I mean, I think it's as good as it's going to get."
With that, she held out her hands, "Ta-da!" and showed off the new friendship bracelet. It was definitely different from the last one - new colors, and new material, since it was fashioned by clothing and other things given to her by those who helped with the project.

As Webby presented her with the new friendship bracelet, though, she took in a surprised breath, carefully taking it and holding it up.
"Wow..." she said softly. Then she laughed a bit. "And here I didn't get you anything."
It was a bit of a joke, but she couldn't help feeling a bit guilty about it too. Especially since the same thing had happened the last time Webby had given her a friendship bracelet, and she had 'lost' it.

"Lena... I've been doing a lot of thinking. About what you said about yourself, your identity, all that... and for a long time, I kept thinking about what I could do to convince you of what I knew was right about you. How to make you think and feel the same way I did... but... as I was making the bracelet, I realized... that wasn't fair to you at all. This is your journey... and me trying to force you into any role... That's no different than what Magica was doing."
As she spoke, she took out one of the knives.
"I have to let you do things your way. It's not going to be easy, but... you deserve the one thing everyone does - choices. You need to be... allowed to make mistakes, and find out what makes you happy. As much as I want to guide you, a big part of friendship is trust. And I want to be able to trust you. So... I have to let you... be you, no matter where that takes you."
no subject
"...Thanks, Webby," she said softly, holding the friendship bracelet tightly in her hand. "That means a lot." Then she offered her free hand to Webby. "And honestly, I still do need your help figuring some things out. There are just gonna be times that I also need to do things for myself."
no subject
"There's just one more thing it needs." With that, she took Lena's other hand, the one holding the bracelet, and opened it up.
Once Lena's palm was flat and the bracelet lay there, Webby twirled the knife in her fingers and held her empty hand over the bracelet.
"This bracelet isn't just about our friendship. It's made out of the promises of everyone here... There are good people who can and will help you if you ask. You just need to remember to ask."
With that, she pricked her finger - thankfully she had talked herself out of doing a whole symbolic gash - to let a single spec of blood drop.
"And most of all... this is a promise."
no subject
"What promise?"
no subject
"No matter what happens, I will always come find you when you need me. No matter what this world does, no matter who or what tries to separate us, even if it takes me my whole life... if you call, I'll come running.
With that, Webby gets on one knee, like a knight pledging their loyalty - which is how she sees herself in this scenario. As such, she even made up her own pledge!
"World's asunder, world's old and new,
This is the vow I make to you.
Our bond will be more solid than gold,
My life I give for yours to hold.
We shall not break, shall not part,
For there will be no greater strength than my heart."
All nice and sweet... except...
Remember that weird, glowing light that happened when she tried to use that spell back with the money-shark?
That light's here again, coming from the bracelet. And just like last time... Webby appears to be oblivious anything is happening.

"There! I feel much better now." A pause, and then she pulled her hand back, looking at her finger. "Well, except here. It seemed cooler in my head." Ow. She stuck her finger in her mouth for a bit.
no subject
And she couldn't help a soft laugh, shaking her head a little. "You really are something else," she said. Then she held out her hand again. "Here, lemme see it."
no subject
She offered her hand. "I don't think I'll wind up with a cool-looking scar either."

no subject
...No, it actually didn't sound good no matter how she thought it.

She then finally put her knife away in her skirt, but then paused. "Hey, you want a knife? I have a spare."
no subject
"...should I ask why you have a spare?"
no subject
"Remember those plants that were mugging people? Two of my new friends took their knives and let me keep them!"
no subject
She'd question what kind of people would give a young girl knives, but it's Webby, so the knives were probably better with her anyway.
"You'd better keep it. I wouldn't really know how to use one properly."
no subject
"I can teach you how to use it!"
no subject
"Hmm...well, I suppose it would be a good idea to learn how to defend myself with something other than magic."
Too little, too late, really, but just in case there was a next time.
no subject
She's so excited her heart might explode. The loyal student and her wise sensei. She all but rips the second knife out of her outfit, and then holds it forward with both hands, as if she was offering an honorable sacrifice to the gods.
"I'll teach you everything Granny taught me."
no subject
"Okay."
no subject
"Now for this kind of weapon, it's best used to inflict the most amount of pain in quick, small movements. It's perfect for distractions or to make a quick get away. But it also requires a good moment of thought before use, because one wrong cut and you got an arterial spray going on, and that takes forever to clean up."

Webby then began to pull up Lena's sleeve. "Now the beauty of your outfit - aside from your natural beauty - is that with these sleeves, you can hide the knife up here, and then slide it out into your palm whenever you need it, so the enemy won't see it coming."
no subject
"Isn't that kinda dangerous? What's keeping me from cutting myself? Or my sleeve?"
no subject
She then pulled back and began ruffling up some of her arm feathers to show off...
"I got all kinds of scars under here, each one a story of training and triumph."
no subject
"Geez...I never realize you'd taken so much damage."
It certainly made sense, all things considered. But seeing the number of scars left an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach, and she wasn't entirely sure why.
no subject
She smoothed down her feathers again.
"What I really one is an epic one either down my back or across my face!"
no subject
"Like one that runs over one eye? That'd be pretty cool."
But unlikely, if she had anything to say about it.
no subject
"Then I could do a dramatic reveal whenever someone asks!"
no subject
no subject
So, there's your guarantee she (probably) won't get any anytime soon. Also, nerd.
no subject
"Yeah, it'd be kind of hard to read or explore if you're missing an eye."
no subject
Yes, she's considered this.
"So I promise I'll be careful."
no subject
"Hey, I'm not too worried. You kick butt better than anyone I know."
She was definitely worried, but knowing Webby could defend herself helped a little.
no subject
"You only say that cause it's true~. But you'll be a deadly warrior in no time, if I have anything to say about it."
no subject
wrap-up or keep going?
"Don't think I'll go easy on you just because we're friends!"
Let's go ahead and wrap it up ^^
"You better not, Pink."
