...! [ ok, uhm, what the heck indeed. walking through walls is not normal, so yugi immediately exchanges a glance with lena before approaching the area. he's careful at first, because had that been some sort of an illusion? but as his hand grazes the wall he realizes it's not actually a wall. immediately he reels back, looking suspiciously from his hand to the wall, as if not quite believing his eyes. ] This is... [ a secret passage? he feels a bit of excitement bubble up, because they've totally stumbled upon something really cool, but why that student knew about this and why he was here is another story entirely. ] I think we should follow. [ because something about this doesn't seem kosher. ]

[She tests it out for herself, just in case there's possibly another enchantment on it that prevented some people from entering. But her hand passes through, same as Yugi's.] Definitely suspicious.

[Glancing at him, she grins a bit.]

Might as well see what's up. Just in case we need to report it or something.

[They're just doing their civic duty, no harm there, right?]

[puzzlers]

[ he's got to stifle a chuckle. ]

But, no, ok. [ he lifts his hands up to quiet himself, because if they're going to follow this guy, then they're going to need to be quiet and cautious. ]

Definitely. [ he whispers, moving through the "wall" and into the dimly lit passage. ] This is too weird. Now I feel like I'm going to have to check every wall I come across to make sure nothing else is hiding there.

[Glancing back behind them to see if anyone else was there, she then follows after him.]

Right? Who knows what kind of secrets are being hidden at the school or something.

[puzzlers]

[ alright. mr. suspicious should have had enough time to get a significant distance ahead of them, so they shouldn't have to worry too much about being spotted... unless he's got friends coming, in which case they'll need to quick draw their wants to conceal themselves. for now though, yugi moves further down the passage, giving lena a nod. ] This seriously opens up a ton of- h- hey, do you hear that? [ the faint sound of... chanting??? ]

[Pausing for a moment, she nodded.]

Yeah...Even worse, do you feel that?

[Maybe it was her own sensitivity to magic, but there was something...powerful in the air. And it was making her feathers stand on end.]

I'm liking this less and less.

[puzzlers]

[ he might not be as in tune with magic as lena is, but he still does have a significant amount of ties to it, so the change in the atmosphere does cause him to bristle. he stills, giving her a slow nod, because things have taken a sudden turn for the worse. ] I… I don’t like this, but I do, yeah, and…. [ he forces himself to start moving again and as the two of them come to the edge of the hall they get to behold and very interesting and deeply troubling sight. ] L- Lena. [ he backpedals without a second thought. ] This isn’t good. We need to tell someone.

[Lena, on the other hand, tries to peer down to get a better look at the group of students gathered below, listening to them chanting a spell. She does her best to still stay hidden, but the way the air thickens as the spell is cast has her tense.]

Listen... [More magic cackles through the air as the students continue chanting.] Is that...a Sundering spell?

[With all the people being brought into the world, they were being taught a bit about Sundering magic. Mostly how to recognize it...and that it was pretty forbidden.]

[puzzlers]

[ he doesn't stick near the edge and, instead, moves further back into the corridor, pressing his back to the wall. he takes out the notebook he keeps in his breast pocket and, shutting his eyes, he tries to jot down some of what he hears. ]

It sounds like it. [ as soon as he's got a fair amount written he creeps back over and shows it to her. ] Just what do they think they're doing? This is... this is bad, like, real bad.

[She reads through what he's written down, then glances back down at the group.]

I wonder if they have anything to do with all of us coming from different worlds...

[Slowly, carefully, she rises to her feet and backs up a bit.]

We definitely need to tell someone.

[She was all for making mischief, but this is way above anything they could handle.]

[puzzlers]

I- It's possible. [ he hadn't expected things to take such a turn. he'd thought that maybe a couple of students had found a secret path and were going to be playing games or planning pranks or... not this. anything but this. ]

I can go get Professor Loshakle. Do you want to stay here? I can leave Peregrin with you and if something should happen he'll help you get the heck out of dodge.

[Glancing down at the group again, she nods.]

Yeah. [Then she gestures to his notebook.] You mind, though?. [She doesn't really wait for an answer before she flips the notebook to the last blank page, where she writes something down. Then she reaches behind her and pats her shoulder, until Nectormancer crawls up from underneath her outer shirt.]

Take Nectormancer with you. Once you're outside, have him deliver this note [She hands the notebook back to Yugi, pointing to the page she wrote in.] to Webby. Just in case something happens, it might be good if more than just the two of us know about this.

[puzzlers]

No. Not at all. [ fff. lena! he does pass it along to her, so she can write her note for her friend. she glances down at it before flipping the book closed. ] Alright. And, yeah, that's probably a good idea. Come on Nectormancer, let's go. Peregrin, stay with Lena and keep. her. safe. Thank you. [ and he leaves with the fruitbat. ]

[Unfortunately, Yugi doesn't get very far before he runs into another student who was entering the hidden passage. Stunned at first, the student then calls out.]

Intruders! We have intruders!

[The chanting down below comes to a sudden stop, then it's followed by a clamor as the rest of them start racing up as the student seals the passage way to prevent them from escaping.]

[puzzlers]

[ yugi is positively stunned, his eyes widening when he nearly runs into the newcomer. well this isn’t good. if only he hadn’t spent so much time dilly dallying. he takes his wand out, but the student is clearly more practiced, so he immediately disarms him. by that time there are even more footsteps resounding in the right passageway and several students have joined their friend to surround them. ]

What have we got here? Some fresh meat? [ he cackles, the others doing the same as, all of a sudden, they’re conjuring chains to bind each and every one of them. ] This might not be so bad. The great beast is going to be hungry, you know. Bring them to the sundering circle!

W- What?

Oh no...

[The thought of being sacrificed brought images of a certain sorceress flash through her mind, and in a panic she whips out her wand, firing a spell at the person in front of Yugi before firing at some of the students coming up the stairs. It's mostly desperation, and she doesn't have as much control of the magic as she wishes she does.]

[puzzlers]

[ the students turn on lena and use the very same magic they used on yugi on her, disarming her if they can then conjuring chains to bind the two of them together. ]

You efforts are futile. Submit and stop wasting our time.

[outofyourshadow]

[She's disarmed pretty easily, and all too soon she's chained up with Yugi. Still she struggles, glaring at the other students.]

Are you all out of your minds?

[puzzlers]

[ yugi looks around, but doesn’t see his familiar anywhere, and he’s not exactly in a rush to get peregrin involved, because there’s a good chance he’ll be hurt again. he frowns, his mind racing with something they can do, but there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot. ]

You don’t need to do this. It’s not worth it! You’re going to hurt us and yourselves and... [ his head drops and he screws his eyes shut tightly, fists balled and shaking. ] Lena, I’m so sorry.

[She pauses in her struggling a bit to glance back at him.]

Hey, it's not your fault that these people are crazy.

[Said loudly with a glare at their captors.]

[puzzlers]

[ she's not really wrong, but he also doesn't think calling them out on it is going to get them out of this situation. he hands his head, closing his eyes. this is bad and he can't think of anything to say or do... and this is all his fault... ]

[Probably not, but it makes her feel a bit better, at least.

Though when she does feel him go a bit slack, she glances back at him.]

You better not be giving up on me.

[puzzlers]

I'm not, I... I just don't know what we should do. Maybe this spell of theirs won't work. They're just students. They can't seriously have a thorough understanding of this. [ so worst comes to worst they see colors or visions of home again, like the research... ]
