V had been passing the labs when a door flew open, a a flaming, frothing flask flew right at the stick figure adventurer.

"Bugsby's potion repelling hand!"

That... did not work. And V failed a dodge roll. So someone might... be on fire....

"I'm trying to help!"

See, Sunset has a bucket and everything! She wills herself to run faster, pivots on her heel, aims...

...and misses.

"A reversal spell would be great right about now...right, right, water!"

She tries again, but discovery isn't really her strongest subject.

And V's own spell failed. And V was still on fire. "I fail to see how any of this helped. And I lack the hit dice to sustain much more fire damage..."

"Man, we really need a lake...wait, hang on!"

She flicks her wand and attempts the water spell...but what comes out instead is a giant pile of snow. Close...?

Close enough. "Cold damage is as bad as fire damage, but temporary," V rationalizes out loud before lunging at the pile of snow.

A moment later, the flames out and the elf buried in snow... "This might not have been my brightest idea to date."

Sunset reaches over and offers a hand, smiling as best she can.

"What were you trying to do?"

"Cross the hall," V said, dryly.

[burningbrighter]

"...okay, and where did the fire come in?"

Forgive her. She's very confused.

"From that doorway." V stopped to consider. "That room might possibly be on fire."

Someone failed a spot check, okay?

"Ooooh."

Sunset blinked, dumbfounded.

"Think we should tell a professor?"

[gender_neutral]

"I am not generally in the habit of reporting to myself. The headmaster, however, might be a wise choice."

[burningbrighter]

"Oh! Oh, right. Of course. I"m sure you've got this covered, but if you want a witness...I'm here, I guess?"

Even though she hadn't seen the start, so she wasn't sure how useful that would be.

People with low stats gave V headaches. "What I was trying to say was yes, please go inform the headmaster, while I see what I can do from here."

[burningbrighter]

"I will. Hang on!"

And Sunset's just gonna skedaddle and do that, racing back as soon as she's able.

"She'll check on it...eventually, I think? You know what the headmaster's like."

Always on a different plane from the rest of them.

Before she can get too far, Sunset is cornered by a cleaning golem, while another one moves in to attend to the snow. They seem intent on solving the smaller problem while the bigger one rages on!

V tried to focus on moving whatever of the snow hadn't melted into the room, failing miserably.

She is summarily scooped up and scrubbed. Oh, this is going super well.

V was getting beyond frustrated. V turned to one of the cleaning golems with a head shake. "There is a student in there! Getting all dirty from the flames. And stuff."

Okay so V rolled a two on that bluff check, but for all they knew there was someone in there. Something started the fire after all, so the elf might have been hoping for a circumstance bonus and a low sense motive roll....

At that point, the golem simply picked up V, using the elf as a mop.

"I would say that my dignity is at an all time low, but I have spent far too long with the halfing for that to be the case." Not to mention the soul splice thing. As in, V was not going to mention the soul splice thing.

Sunset just sighed, waiting for this to be over. Eventually the hall would be clean, but she'd definitely taken a fair hit.

"You all right?"

"What part of my cranium being used as a cleaning implement could possibly constitute my being alright in such a way as to necessitate the question." An d of course, the lab was still on fire.

"Well...it could be worse?"

Sunset blinked once, then twice. Yeah, this day wasn't getting any less weird.

"At least we're not in the fire."

"Perhaps. And whoever was is likely no longer among the living."
