Oct Event Log - Portal Chaos

The glowing portal shuddered before slamming shut behind them. It had seemed like a good idea at the time... go through the portal in order to close it from the other side. And it had worked! The portal was closed, the school was safe but the heroes who had worked together to close the portal were now trapped on the other side.

Through the Portal
( Loki, Crowley, Alec, Beetlejuice, Sho )

Silence fell as soon as the portal closed leaving the small group standing in the middle of a crossroads. The ruined archway that ran along the top of the cliffs hinted that there might once have been more of a civilization in this world but now there were only the two pathways, one that ran down the hill into the face of the brilliant red glow that hinted at a flow of magma beyond and one that curved up a hastily cobbled together set of stairs. Of course they were free to stay right where they were as well, here in this craggy passage with the imps peering down at them from every rock and crevasse.


Rescuers
( Aziraphale, Harry, Lena, Eleven, Mal )

With the battle won most begin to relax. There was the wounded to see to and the damage to the school to repair... but gradually the more tuned in students start to notice the missing. Roll calls that were taken but never completed for some were not around to answer to their names. Then one of the injured students comes to and mentions having seen the missing students disappearing through the imp summoning portal. Clearly they were trapped on the other side and it was up to their fellow students to work out a way to bring them back!

Tree-girl sidequest

About that time one of the other students who had been secretly spying on the proceedings leaned too far out on the branch of the tree they were sitting on, you see they had opinions.

"Well, I think you ought to tell the Headmaster."

There was one of those in every group, wasn't there?

"Either that or..."

There was a sickening CRACK as the branch gave way and sent the student tumbling head over heels to the ground. Her scream was legendary... but the drop wasn't all that far really. It's up to you if you decide to catch her with your magic or let her land on the by gravity's good graces.

Mal swore under her breath as she saw the girl falling. Though by any non-Auradon/non-Isle standards "Dalmatians" wasn't really a swear word.

Blame Carlos.

But instinct took over and she didn't have time for her spell book. She pulled her wand and cast the first spell she could think of.

"Stop her fall
Stop it fast
Catch her now
set her down gently at last!

Ugh, not her best work.

Her eyes glowed green and green trailed from both her wand and her lead fingertip as her spell reached to slow the girl's fall.

Which of course left Mal mad at herself again. How was she supposed to get a bad girl rep if she kept saving people? UGH.

The spell might have been a touch rough but it did the trick. The young magical student floated peacefully to the ground with not even a hair out of place. Still she stood and straightened her robes before speaking.

"Thank you. As I was about to say... you could always use one of the old airships. That and some kind of transport spell might be enough to get your friends back from wherever they went. We could probably find one in the library, unless you have already learned one?"

"Don't thank me," she growled. "These boots are new leather," she lied, tossing her hair back. "I didn't want to get blood on them till I broke them in."

"And... what friends? All I know is we were under attack, then I find these idiots talking about demon summoning. Someone had better tell me what is going on, and soon!"

The girl very nearly giggled but whether or not she bought the shoe story she wasn't going to say.

"You mean you haven't heard? A bunch of students hopped into one of those portals that was summoning imps. It's said they are trapped over there now."

Being the know-it-all that she was the girl seemed quite smug as she looked over the small group of would-be rescuers.

"That's why they are trying that summoning portal but it might not be the only way to save them."

"Those idiots!" Sylvando was one of them, wasn't he? Sounded like his sort of move. Over dramatic, heroic and... ugh. Now she was going to have to save him. Just... UGH. He probably set it all up to make some point about her being a good guy or something! She was half tempted just to leave him there to make her own point. He could get out on his own, she was sure! She should let him!

Except she wasn't going to, so she needed a good reason why. Or rather a bad one. A rotten one.

AH! She saved him, he owed her. That had to be good for a copy of his room key or a month's worth of sweets at the least. Perhaps both. Plus whatever she could wring out of whoever else was in there. Might as well get the others home too while she was at it.

"Summoning portal is a stupid idea. What have you got?"

"The transport spell!"

The know-it-all girl rolled her eyes.

"Honestly! I knew you weren't listening to me. All you have to do is steal an airship and use a transport spell on it. I would do it myself only I'm only a first year."

[mal_contented]

"All we have to do... is steal an airship and use a transport spell on it." She lunged, grabbing the girl by the front of her uniform. "A plan that will get us expelled along with a handy excuse why you can't be involved?" she shook her. "Clearly you think I look stupid."

She growled, and shook her again. "Out with the rest of it, before I make you regret it."

Rattled like a tambourine the girl's helpful facade cracked just a little until she was sneering at Mal.

"What do you care? You are always out breaking the rules!"

Paid ran out. Sorry >.<

"So you thought you'd have a little fun and get me expelled in the process?" she snarled.

Thats fine

"I thought," the girl huffed and she tried and failed to wriggle out of Mal's grasp. "It might help! No one else had mentioned the spell before and I don't know how to cast it!"

"Oh?" she said, adjusting her grip. "So you just wanted to help us, then?" her voice was almost silky. Threatening in its softness.

That was kind of hot really leaving the girl to briefly question her life choices...

"Y--yes?"

Uh oh, the girl is now dangling for her life with the branch possibly breaking at any moment. Even if he wants to tell her otherwise about the rescue plan, Harry pushes any objections aside to save the girl. There is no way he’s going to let her fall down and get hurt as the result.

Utilizing his kinetic magic, he immediately teleports the girl from her free fall and onto the ground with her feet planted firmly on the ground. Percy then turns his head a bit in curiosity and lets out a small hoot as he checks on her to see if she’ll be alright.

"Whew," The girl took a moment to straighten her skirts and fix the sleeve of her robe, "Thank you, that might have been a nasty fall."

She took a deep breath and looked around as if some one might be listening.

"I couldn't help but overhear your rescue plans, mostly because I was eavesdropping... Do you really think that would work?"

“Hey, um. I got to be honest with you, but I really don’t know: we haven’t even started the rescue just yet,” Harry tries to get her side of the story, “On the other hand… If you have problems with the plans, then you might want to tell the man who come up with them in the first place.”

To be fair, Harry did have some second thoughts about trying to summon back the other students from being stuck in Hell. He is worried that they might bring back the imps by accident if they take one misstep. Maybe the girl could have some ideas that they could use.

If he had stayed the way he was back home years ago, he would’ve be recklessly jumping in first without thinking twice, but with what he went through in Avalon, he had become very cautious and sometimes doubtful of things at times. It doesn’t hurt to get other people’s opinions before they can go through with the rescue right away.

"Well, I was thinking a transport spell might work out better."

Mostly because she was one of those know-it-all types that always had a better plan than everyone else... But Harry was used to that. He had gone to school with Hermione.

"Then you could all go there and get the students back yourselves."

Hmm, it sounds a lot similarly to teleportation back in Avalon, but on a larger scale it seems. Perhaps that it could work so he wouldn’t tire himself out from trying to teleport too many people at the same time like what he did in the Trows quest.

Though a part of him doesn’t know if it could work in practice. But then again, he is gotten used to dealing with know-it-all types thanks in part to Hermione: she is often the one who makes the plans.

“That could work. It reminds me of teleportation in the Isle of Avalon very much, but without tiring oneself out,” Harry tells her, “I haven’t tired that out yet, but I’m willing to give it a try.”

Ah! Some one who took her suggestion! Harry in that moment became her all time favorite person!

"What do you need for a transportation spell? I've only ever read about them, I've never had the chance to try one."

“Back in Avalon, all what I need to do is to think of a location (usually within close proximity) and I can teleport anything, or anyone, or even myself to that location,” Harry happily explains away before telling her this, “Though I assume that teleportation works differently in here compared to Avalon. Maybe some glyphics and an incantation would suffice.”

"Maybe! Or maybe it's still as easy as thinking? Why not give it a try?"

But as she says this she suddenly runs away to hide behind the trunk of that tree she had just fallen out of. Just in case...

“Um, alright then, I’ll try my best,” Harry nods as he sees her running behind to the tree to see if Avalon’s kinetic magic could help out in the rescue mission.

He thinks of getting the girl back to being front of him from a while ago and, as he thinks hard, he could feel kinetic magic flowing through his veins as he concentrates hard on teleporting her back as a test.

Oh Harry, always trying to get the girl! It works just like magic! One second she was hiding behind the tree and in the next an odd sparkling gradually covered her body until, POOF, she was standing right there in front of Harry again. She looked up at him with eyes as wide as dinner plates.

"NEAT!"

“Why thanks, Miss,” Harry replies politely, “So now that we have found that Avalon’s kinetic magic can do wonders in getting people out of Hell, I’ll get right to it and try not to tire myself out. It does take a lot of energy to teleport anything and anyone to any location.”

"Ok and I'll have some candy ready!"

She fished around in her pockets and pulled out several dozen wrapped sweets.

"Candy is always good for a quick burst of energy after a spell."
