What: A clean demon is a grumpy demon

Since Mal had cursed him with having a human sense of smell, Beetlejuice had been showering at least every other day. As a bonus, he'd been washing his clothes as well.

He still looked like a dead guy, but, he smelled somewhat better. And the moss that was growing on him looked a bit healthier. Beetlejuice himself on the other hand, was sullen, and plotting revenge.

"Hey. Hey, kid. Do you think demonic possession is a reasonable retaliation for a minor curse? Nothing fatal, just, literally singing my praises." .

"Cursed me with a living sense of smell," he whined. "Can you believe it? Being living was horrible just for a minute, I don't want reminders of it!"

"Wait, being alive for a minute?" her celery green eyes widen in shock and nearly forgotten the clean scent he is stuck with, "How did you temporarily become alive in the first place? And why would anyone tried to curse you to smell like you just taken a shower?"

Marly is just as confused as she is also shocked: her wide blue eyes widen as she lets another soft meow of disbelief.

"Loooong story short? I thought my bffff didn't want to be friends anymore. So, I coerced her into a green card marriage so I could leave the house. But, she jumped into Hell to get away from me, so, I had to put on this gameshow where I was going to kill off everyone else who wasn't already dead---but, that's not the point."

Beetlejuice made a dismissive gesture. "Anyway, she comes back and agrees to green card marry me, but, once I actually became a living boring breather, I discovered that it was like sensory and emotional overload! Kinda lost my mind, so she murdered me and tried to yeet me into the Netherworld."

The demon beamed. "Isn't she brilliant?!"

Well, that is one heck of story that she has ever come to listen to. She isn't sure of what to make of it, but it does sound like Beetlejuice had some sort of misunderstanding with his friend back in his world.

"Whoa, that's quite heavy, I'll admit," she replies, "So... Becoming human by marrying her actually gives you sensory and emotional overload?"

"Mm-hm. I did not figure on that happening. But, I'd never been alive before, so, how was I supposed to know you guys are squishy little balls of constantly changing feelings?"

Beetlejuice paused. "Also didn't know that sky rats made noise. It was kinda pretty."

"Guess that many of my species somehow managed to evolve to emote a lot to the point that we just can't help it at times," she replies back, "I did know that one of my friends had a hard time adjusting to having a step-family when her dad was going to remarry during the summer that she broke a window with a rock before realizing that her behavior towards them was just, well, wrong."

"Sky rats making a lot of noises while flying? That sounds really intriguing," she also adds in while Marly tries to wonder about BJ's freshly clean scent (she has no idea what led to him smelling like freshly washed laundry).

"Hey, nothing wrong with a little property destruction. Sounds like a healthy way to vent to me!"

He hooked his thumbs together and whistled. "Birds. Sky rats. Same thing."

Actually, Carmen breaking her dad's house's window is not what would normally be considered as therapeutic, but Lena digresses, there is no point in arguing over that. Besides, she was not there physically when the incident occurred.

"Okay then, they are essentially one and the same," she nods as many of their House mates and other students start to come into the classroom.

"Mm-hm. Like I said, I didn't know they made music..."
