Trickster God at the festival

[Loki had avoided the temple tours--at least any of the worshipful parts. Curious, yes, but he wasn't one to worship others. The Libraries were very nice though, and it was useful to know what resources were around. Unsurprisingly he was intrigued by the mystery of Machalabie, and would have a new pet research project.

It's when things start to wind down though, that he moves to be more a part of things. Enjoying the performances of the Fantastics students, and occasionally adding a little illusory flourish of his own (like fireworks to emphasize a dramatic crescendo) to add to things. He can also be found sampling the food and drink.]

[Eleven grins to see him- though it takes on a nervous edge as the time for his speech steadily approaches]

That I can't say. I'm not one of this world's Gods.

[Loki was entirely matter-of-fact about that. It hadn't actually come up in their conversation before. They'd stayed relatively on topic about the speech.]

Although I will admit I'm curious now, since you keep mentioning Yggdrasil. The name, and concept of the world tree, is known where I'm from. Asgard sits top it's highest branches, one of the nine Realms.

[That gets his attention swiftly. Eleven turns his full attention on Loki, brows drawing together]

Atop its branches.. I've been to Yggdrasil and flown around Her, but while there's certainly a generous canopy, I've never seen anything above Her branches.

Is she a literal tree in your world then? In mine, she is a collection of 9 realms--9 different worlds, all branching out as one galaxy.

[It takes a good minute to envision in the way Loki describes it- a little beyond him, even. A more cosmic version of Yggdrasil]

..Yes. She hangs in the sky- the source of all life and light on Erdrea. Each life is a leaf on Her branches.

Hmm. A view of it can be seen from some of the Nine Realms, but not all. Do any of them sound familiar too? Asgard, which is seen as the head, and brings order to the rest of the nine realms. Above it lies Muspelheim, and near it lies Vanaheim, as does Alfheim, and Nidavellir. Below these, but still higher up lies Jotunheim. Lower down, the cosmic nimbus of planets that spiral around to form Yggdrasil and orbits Midgard. Some call it Earth. Lower still lie Svartalfheim and Niflheim.

[It was a lot of information that Loki just gave to El, he'll give him a moment to process.]

Ah, there's a city in my world called Sniflheim. It's cold, in the far north. I haven't heard of any of the others.

Niflheim is the realm of primordial mist and ice, so I suppose that correlates. I wonder even more now, about your world and its influences to have that crossover, yet nothing else.

It is curious. How strange to think that your Yggdrasil isn't a real tree, too.

What about the gods in you world?

While there are a handful of other spiritual beliefs, Yggdrasil is our Goddess. Each of our lives is a leaf on Her branches.

Whereas in ours, it is simply the way to conceptualize how the nine realms exist as part of each other, and a recognition of how to travel between them. A 'tree of life' in metaphor. It is the Norns who weave the fate of all, from Yggdrasil's base in Urðarbrunnr.

[It's a lot to wrap one's mind around, and so Eleven falls quiet for a good minute doing just that]

..I wonder how that all came to be- both in my world and yours. A strange coincidence that they share a name.

There are other worlds that do know of mine. I've been recognized by name from a few of their myths, so perhaps there is some 'thread' that weaves Yggsdrasil and the concept of it throughout the multiverse.

Oh, so you're a mythical figure, too? But known throughout multiple worlds. That can't be easy.

I'm known in my home 'world', in this case encompassing the nine realms and beyond. But this is the first new 'universe' or I suppose dimension?--that I've been to. It's been interesting to find that some people from the various other dimensions know of me, and others do not.

[There's a smile, and a little bit of an ironic half-bow.]

Back home I am the God of Mischief, a Trickster.

[Eleven blinks, pausing in his step]

A God? [A minor one by the sounds of it, but even still, he can't help but feel a touch more self-conscious]

The magic that pulled us here must be quite powerful.

I agree, which is why I plan to study it intensely.

[Along with the other magics here. Because how DARE they be stronger than his own. Nope--he was a master of Magic, and he would master the magics here.]

[he might find something pecking at his illusions. A twist there, a disruption here, a slight warp or fray at the edges. There is nothing disruptive about the interruptions, nothing that detracts from the beauty of the illusion presented, but noticeable to the illusionist perhaps that something is not quite right.]

[Considering Loki himself was 'adding' to the Fantastics illusions, the small disruptions were noticeable to him. Mostly because he cast illusions differently than the Fantastics to begin with. So, Loki started taking a closer look around the crowd to try and find the perpetrator. It wouldn't do for him to be blamed for sloppy illusions.]

[he caught Loki's eye and smirked, twisting another illusion with a flick of his fingers and then tilting his head, asking without words what the man was going to do about it]

[Loki raised an eyebrow, and let a smirk come to his face. So Alec wanted to play? It was mildly impressive that the other was twisting his illusions without use of anything other than gestures. Alec hadn't seemed the type to have illusion magic of his own.

Still, two could play as it were. Loki let his illusions play on to enhance the performance of those using Fantastics. But one hand moved and twisted in a gesture. Turning the ground beneath Alec hot, and what appeared to be forming lava.]

Shit! [he danced out of the way, scrambling back, his heart lurching in his throat as he dodges in an attempt to escape the...illusion? Was it? He stared, breathing hard. There was nothing catching on fire. There is no smell of smoke. It's just a trick of the light. He tries to tell himself this until his heart believes it. Give him a moment]

[Loki let himself chuckle quietly. Keeping watch on Alec out of the corner of his eye, then dismissing the illusion after a few heartbeats. Should Alec catch him staring, Loki'll just raise a brow in challenge and maybe invitation.]
