Serpent in the Festival
All this talk of blind faith had him puzzled. You were just supposed to believe in something without question? Seemed foolish to him but then hadn't he always wondered what his God was planning? But like a moth attracted to flame Crowley wandered in and out of the crowds, doing what he did best, asking the festival goers questions... having them test out their faith against his more worldly point of view. It might have been counter the point of the Festival but it was safe, familiar, and Crowley snuggled right back into hid old role as Tempter even if it might have swayed a few away again.

"Excuse me," he cut in with a frown to the red-headed man, "Perhaps you should speak with a priest if you have questions?"
no subject
Hadn't he? There had been that one in Byzantium and the group in Milan... which as he thought of it were all from his world with no connection to this one.
"Well, not these ones, but Priests never have any answers... The only one who does never bothers to talk to anyone anymore."
That being God herself.
Not being nearly as in tune with who was or was not a student, or really knowing who he had been exchanging notes with on the board, he didn't have an inkling who Eleven was. Dressed as finely as the kid was for the fair though it was only reasonable to assume that he might have been...
"Are you one of them? Which Temple are you from?"

"You put all this together, didn't you?"
no subject
"You could say that, I suppose. I'm just glad everyone agreed to help."
no subject
"Everyone loves a party."
no subject
"I hope it's enjoyable."

His toe scuffed along the sidewalk as he found himself a bench to slide into, all the better to people watch from here, and watch all the happy families that were migrating from one temple to another.
"Seems to be going well though. You have the kids smiling, that's usually a sign that you've done a good job."
no subject
"I have Sylvando to thank for that," he rejoined, eyes seeking out the smaller figures in attendance. "I wouldn't have thought of them alongside everything else if not for him."
It would have been a terrible oversight, but thankfully, a mistake covered by one of his most trusted friends.
"I appreciate you coming, even if things like this aren't usually where you like to be. The support means a great deal."
no subject
The urge to growl and bark an order not to thank him simmered very near the surface. A demon... being thanked by someone wearing holy robes! He was just glad that anyone around close enough to have overheard that was too busy dealing with the little ones to have noticed. They were getting rambunctious now, as kids will, running around one of the holy men from one of the Temples. it was all play to them and that Priest had essentially become a maypole.
"I don't get it, but... It's to prevent the end of the world, right? No one wants to see the world end."
Ok, there were certain forces at home that were quite keen on causing the end of the world, forces he should have been working for, but even if there were problems why end everything? Those kids over there laughing and hiding under that other Priest's robes would miss out on a lot and so would Crowley.
"Uh oh. You better break out the big guns." Crowley's head bounced in the direction of the kids, "They will have that guy hopelessly tied up in about five minutes."

"There's a little time yet, then," he noted with amusement, and turned his attention back to the stranger. "I feel as though I should already know your name, but I can't place it."
no subject
His last name was his first, until he thought to say the rest in a very Bond-inspired style.
"Anthony J. Crowley. And you are?"
no subject
"Eleven," he smiled, a touch self-conscious. "Well met, Crowley."
