The Long Long Line ⛓ Adventure ⛓ OTA!

Adventure text: Renowned Thaumaturgical theorist Winzdane Mills et Maris is giving a talk on the recent developments of specialized warding -- and with that being a big topic in school, every student wants a piece of the action, hoping that they'll gain some insight into their own studies. So here you are, waiting in line for the lecture... you're pretty sure, since you can't see the end of it. There's no way you're going to get one of the limited tickets at this rate. But is giving up and going home really the answer?

Standing in line for what had felt like hours already the short former pharaoh tried lifting himself up onto his toes and leaning to one side to see what the hold up was. He found it hard to believe that all of these people were that interested in sitting through something... potentially tedious? Not to be cruel to the speaker of course- since he too was looking to better hone his magical abilities.

With a huff, and a frown he rocked back on his heels and abandoned the endeavor. If he slipped out of line and cut in front of someone further along, they might not even notice him...

No. That would be wrong. It was just so peculiar having to adjust to being an average student again, he would never have to wait in a queue in his homeland. Come to think of it, he was usually on top of the invitation list in Japan as well. Tapping the shoulder of the person in front of him he had to ask, "Are you really in line for the lecture on wards? I just want to make sure... I'm in the right place."

The lanky demon looked back at the one who had tapped his shoulder and then forward towards the lecture hall.

"Is that what everyone is standing in line for?? I thought this was a line for a concert, one of those big campus deals!"

He looked back at Atem.

"Why are we standing in line for a lecture?"

A concert would have certainly made more sense.

"I'm beginning to question that myself.." Even if the speaker was popular it didn't mean it was the only way to acquire that particular brand of knowledge.

"We could take off? Or..."

Crowley looked past the crowd towards the back of the building.

"Maybe there is another way in?"

Why wait in line when you could slip in through the stagedoor.

The Great Familiar Audition ⛓ Courtyard ⛓ OTA

"Ah- thank you, but as you can see I have plenty of familiars already," Atem tried to reason with an overambitious owl that had the courtesy of bringing him an enchanted notebook, the kind that students used to magically send messages to one another without using the bulletin board. Upon further inspection, he realized that this one didn't even belong to him. Flipping through a couple of pages, just to identify the true owner, he noticed a few messages that were clearly meant to be private and he slammed the notebook shut, his face a noticeable shade darker. "You take this back where it belongs!" He boomed up at the creature, his voice sounding more intimidating than intended. The owl flapped it's wings a few time, loosening a feather or two before it hastily flew off sans notebook.

"Now what should I do with this....?"

Without much choice he flipped it open, and jotted down a note of his own. "To the recipient of this message, I regret to inform you that this notebook has made it's way into the wrong hands. I'm not sure who this belongs to, but it you would arrange to collect it, you could see it back to the proper owner."

There perfect. Now all he would need to do is wait for a response, and pretend like he hadn't seen any of the contents.

[ooc: I'm leaving the contents of the notebook up to you! It doesn't have to be anything too bad, and it could have just been something taken out of context. Misunderstandings am I right? If you just want to overhear this and try to help Atem out, that would be fine too!]

“Whoa, whoa, whoa! I’m really sorry, little guys,” a rather frazzled English man begs to a group of animals vying for his attention, “As much as I want to take good care of you, I already have a familiar and he’s hiding inside a pocket of my rucksack right now. Can you just find another person to run or fly or slither to?”

While not visible at the moment, panicked hoots from an owl could be heard from the side pocket of the man’s backpack. The poor little owl is having a moment of anxiety over the outpour of familiars all over the school campus.

"Persistent, aren't they?" Noticing the commotion, Atem couldn't help but be drawn to it since he had experienced something similar himself. The animals were all so keen on acquiring masters that they were taking things to extremes. He still had the notebook he'd been given tucked under one arm as he moved closer.

"I had to send one of my one familiars off because he has a terrible jealous streak." Capricius that is. "Also it's even harder to discourage the new applicants if they can see you already have more than one familiar- it's like an open invitation." Horus the golden metallic falcon, remained on Atem's shoulder.

“In any case, I’m sorry to hear about that: these familiars are very eager to find new people who’ll after them,” the man admits to Atem while trying to get a grip on a feisty tabby cat, “My familiar is not used to seeing this many animals gathering around me in a single sitting, that’s why he is hiding inside the rucksack of mine at the moment.”

He couldn’t bear to break the news to them, but man, he really needs to get these animals to behave themselves and not overrun the school. They have to find a way to gather them up and find their owners or their new future owners quickly as they can.

A Sphinx In Training - OTA

"The tallest star need not be in the sky. Can you make it shine?" Atem repeated as he sat casually on a stretch of stone fencing on the edge of town. It was the riddle he'd received from the Sphynx, a curious creature to run into in a foreign land, and he was struggling. For someone that usually aced such things it was mildly frustrating so he debated his options outloud.

"A star needn't be a reference to a literal star- it could refer to a person, someone wellknown in entertainment, a sports star, .. even a popular gaming enthusiast perhaps." He huffed. ".. but the tallest... star? Was there anyone taller than Seto Kaiba. COUGH. "It couldn't be that simple... and he's perfectly capable of shining all on his own......". Which he also assumed to be figurative in this reading.

Or did star reference something else? A star-shaped hairdo perhaps? Something only two people possessed, and Atem was the taller of the two. Ridiculous. "What else could star be a reference to.."
