Hello- I've recently arrived here to be placed in Gekronus Maius. I'll be looking forward to studying with all of you, particularly those in my house.

If anyone here shares an interest in archaeology, with that in mind, I would like to possibly share notes as one of the Sundered here- I'm interested in studying the differences in how various cultures here developed in the past.

[EXTREMELY used to enforced meet and greets.]

Outside the matter of acting on campus formed habits, Yuume seems to be settling in about as well as can be expected. Which is to say, she seems to be doing well?

Mostly. New uniform on, she inspects herself yet again while passing a mirror in the common room, currently rather distracted. "I think I've put it all on properly..." She mutters, only to startle when she looks up to see someone there. "Oh-! Ah... ...I'm not in the way am I?"

[OPEN- SCHOOL GROUNDS]

"Don't chew that..." The warning is soft, and barely even scolding- and given to what looks like a small longhaired rat, currently perched on a young woman's gloved hand. The glove looks rather futuristic- but it's likely non functioning, fortunately for the familiar.

Still, they're hard to replace. So.

It could well be enough of a conversation starter for some- but others may in fact be drawn in by Yuume herself. The young college student approaches calmly, before asking- "Ah...Excuse me? You've been here for a bit, right? Could you perhaps help me with some directions? I'm still trying to sort out the campus layout..."

"Ahh, I see..." She...thinks. She studies the other a moment, taking in the uniform. Is...the remark because of house rivalry, or are they another sundered, she can't really tell which it is...

Ah well. "You're quite good at sketching," she comments idly, considering the other rooms she'll need to look for. "Do you mind if I ask about the other classes I have? I suspect I'll have better luck between you and this map..."

Kaiba shakes his head. "That's why I asked. So you don't get yourself lost and have to ask someone else."

That comes out a little harsher than he intends, so he sighs and tries a smile. "Okay. Where else do you have to go?"

It comes out harsher, but somehow all she can do is smile a bit wryly. Honestly, it sounds like something she'd say if she was feeling especially testy...

Right, well. She gives out the numbers- "They're for the Etiquette and History classes, as well as Intimation, Modification, and Religion. I wanted to make sure I had a proper foundation for the magic classes...math at least is hopefully a constant," she finds herself remarking on that note. Particularly since there are two history classes and dangit she's taking 'm both.

Kaiba efficiently draws lines all across the map as she lists off her classes. "It is, but applying math knowledge to casting is an art. One that I've happened to learn well," he smirks. "Not that there's anything wrong with having a different focus. We need students of all specialties if we're ever going to get home."

And that answers one question: he's a fellow Sundered.

"I likely won't see you in class much, my focus is entirely different. But I occasionally student teach on business fundamentals, if that interests you."

She just chuckles at that. "I would hope applying the knowledge would be covered in the magic lesson rather than the math class itself then," she remarks. "That one should be Modification, at least..." Ahh, but that aside. "Ah- so you came from another world as well then... ...It's good to meet you then. My name is Yuume Souryuu- I'm more for ancient history than business admittedly, but if I'm right about your uniform at least...perhaps I'll be seeing you in that Modification class?" Well, maybe maybe not. It comes down to if the classes are ever split between levels of skill after all.

"Ah. Learning from human errors. That class never runs out of material."

Kaiba laughs and nods. "You'll see me. I'm Seto Kaiba, and modification is my focus."

He's kind of a monster at it, really.

"It certainly doesn't," she laughs, only to freeze at the name. "S..."

oh no that's why he's familiar.....

"...Seto Kaiba? As in..." Oh she really shouldn't ask, but- "...Duel monsters, Seto Kaiba?"

"...please don't ask to duel me," is how he responds. "At least not right away. I don't need anyone else from the future utterly humilating me with new ridiculous rules that I have no way of knowing about."

Yeah...don't ask about that story. Don't. "But that's me."

"That's definitely not why I was asking, trust me..!" she protests weakly, shaking her head. "Even if I intended to do so, my glove hasn't been functioning since I arrived here...and..." And.

She frowns, a rather severe glare on her face- but somehow not directed at Kaiba. "...for that matter, as you've said yourself, it would hardly be a fair fight..."

Ah, well. She coughs and shakes her head. "I apologize for the reaction though- for all that we're from different worlds as 'Sundered', I somehow didn't expect different times to factor in as well." She leaves it at that. Best not to make this awkward for the guy.

"Well if you're not interested in my dueling or my company...you just wanted to know if we were from the same Earth?"

Kaiba can understand that curiosity. "I'm surprised it hasn't happened more often. The group of us from the same Earth were largely from my era, but we briefly had one visitor from ancient Egypt...and still have another, I suppose."

Ah, timelines. How he loves to hate them. "A historian like you might be more interested in him, if he's in the mood to talk."

"More or less," she admits with a somewhat embarrassed smile. "I didn't really expect a well known name...I would say I'm...a few decades beyond your time?" Yeah she'll go with that.

Ahem. Ancient Egypt is a wonderful distraction, and the way her eyes immediately light up only confirm it. "A...Ancient Egypt? Do you know what Dynasty? How far into the period do you mean? I-" OH,

She coughs. "Ah...l-like you said, I should see if he's open to talking about things like that..." THE OPPORTUNITIES THOUGH...

"I don't get to talk to him as often as I'd like to, but...I think talking about his life makes him feel closer to his friends. It's a complicated situation. If you're lucky, you'll learn just how interesting he is."

Kaiba hides a smirk behind his hand. "If you ever want to duel on a more even playing field, though, you should pick up Fantastic Foils. It's a similar game. Just make sure you fully understand what a card does before you play it---they're known to have real world effects."

"I certainly hope I don't overwhelm him doing that then..." She has...so many mundane questions...

...Uh-

"Mnh...Fantastic Foils..." Oh, oh dear. She tries to brush it off, smiling just somewhat stiffly. "I'll consider it- admittedly, I think I'll have my time taken more by the books at this point..."

But more than that she wasn't exactly a recreational duelist- playing cards for fun feels...odd, ultimately. Not that she didn't do anything for 'fun', but. Well.

"Mm. You do have a rather full schedule. But you'll adapt after the first few weeks if you want to take up a hobby, even if that's just 'making sure we don't die' when the school's mayhem starts up. It's usually about once a month and involves us revealing embarrassing truths about ourselves."

Yeah he's a little bitter about that.

"Ah............" N...now she's suddenly wishing her glove did work...

Maybe if she speaks to one of the researchers...

"...I don't suppose there's anything that can be solved by force..?" The question comes out so flatly, that it could be mistaken for a joke. But no, she'd genuinely like to know if punching anything will be particularly effective.

"Usually not, but it's possible. So I'd suggest keeping your skills sharp---once you find the branch of magic that appeals to you best, start basing your combat around it."

He grins. "Modification glyphs and equations, for example, are versatile in the right hands. An enemy's spell can be turned around on them if you understand it."

"Hahhhh...of course...that does explain why I've had such trouble finding some equivalent to a gym I suppose though," she laments quietly. "I'll have to find some other way to keep in shape..."

Mm. "Hmmm. A rebound- that would certainly make things tricky indeed. I've been curious to see how much of these magics will be employed where paper and ink can't be exercised admittedly- a number of them sound quite writ based."

"Oh, you meant physical training."

Kaiba sighs.

"In that case, you'll want to join the Bala-inlota team. It's a sport that blends physical activity and magic, and the gym training for that event is intense."

"Mmm, just for practice...ah." Hmm. "...Bala-inlota? I suppose I'll give it a look, though if it's as specialized as most sports are I might just have to settle for setting up a sort of training yard... ...Could you describe how it typically moves?"
