[CLOSED] If At First You Don't Succeed...

Who: Noa & Tyzias
What: Trying some barrier spells! Stop poking the dragon kids.
Where: Entrance of the Caverns
When: Mid November
Warnings: None

It is 10 AM sharp, near the entrance of the caverns beneath the academy. There is no intention to go inside, however.

Noa stands and frowns at the entrance in particular, having done so many times before. Even thinking of the collar Tyzias' cat now has can't improve his mood enough, which is a shame, because seeing it referred to as a 'noise wriggler' made his absolute day.

But now they're back here. Is there even much use in putting a barrier up, he wonders? That dragon has actually come Back outside now. Will it actually stay down there if left unbothered? If no one goes to poke them with a stick so to speak?

Noa sighs, and beside him on their carrier/palanquin, Adelai watches. At least the emperor himself is here, or something.

Tyzias smiles, tapping the... oval. Yeah, sure, that works. "Got it in one, boy genius. Took a while to hack out a proper inventory system out of the gear sets, but it's way better than a sylladex." Having to fill out paperwork for everything she retrieves and stores takes a lot of time that Tyzias is unwilling to waste.

"You feeling like indie or rock today? Or anything else, really. This baby has basically everything in it." Literally. Tyzias makes a point of downloading as much music as she can from every world that she visits.

Don't worry, Noa. Tyzias's vocabulary has become so infected with slang from dozens of different worlds that it's a wonder that she's understandable at at all. "...well, let's just see how you like some good ol' fashioned Mountain Goats. eMog, play Damn These Vampires by the Mountain Goats."

As the sultry, melancholy guitars play, Tyzias leans against the wall and closes her eyes. Deep breaths. In, out. In, out. Her shoulders begin relaxing, and her fingers begin unconsciously strumming an invisible guitar along with the song as she mutters the chords under her breath.

Fifteen minutes of music pass without either of them saying a single word. But as the dulcet tones of the Mountain Goats float through the caverns, Tyzias asks, "I'm curious. What's music in your world like? You've gotta have a favorite song, right?"

Anything to fill the time.

"eMog, play Lindsey Stirling - Mix." As the strains of Lindsey Stirling's electric guitar echo through the cave, Tyzias looks Noa up and down. Something about the kid didn't... fit quite right. He acted more like an Alternian child than a human one in a way that Tyzias couldn't quite place.

"...I know this is hypocritical, even moreso than it would be otherwise since I asked you to help me in the first place, but it really isn't healthy—especially for a human kid your age—to spend hours fucking about in a cave using enough magic to burn out most adult sorcerers in this world. How the hell do you do it? I can because I was raised under the fear of instant death if I didn't immediately excel at my studies, but since I assume you didn't grow up in a cartoonishly evil totalitarian regime..." Tyzias lets her sentence trail off, looking Noa dead in the eye. "I would've given you a break if you asked for it, and you know that. Why didn't you?"

"Nah, I'm calling bullshit. It needs to be done, yeah."

Tyzias narrows her eyes.

"But why do you, a kid who's... what. Twelve, thirteen in human years? Why do you think it's your responsibility to do it instead of asking, say, a professor to help? Or the, uh, older brother that you have here? Remember you mentioning him once..."
