The minute Dewey heard the rumors going around that there was a traveling festival in town, he knew he had to go. Noctis was right: it was high time he got back down into the city, despite the fact that he and Rapunzel had gotten so hopelessly lost a few weeks ago. This time, he was going prepared: a map from the library was tucked into his backpack, with plenty of room left over for cheap midway winnings and souvenirs he didn't even need, but would absolutely hoard anyway.

He left a quick note on the bulletin board, addressed to anyone he even remotely considered a friend: Guys hey let's go to the dock festival meet you outside the path to town k we're DEWING THIS - Dewey

Anyone who wanted to meet up with him could find him bouncing on the balls of his feet, too excited to stand still.

It was the pinnacle of rude, as a matter of fact, and he knew she was way cooler than that. It was even the perfect high five - just hard enough to sting but not excruciating. He could see why Louie and Webby both liked her so much.

"See, I like being right on the edge of barfing. It's like almost dying. You know it could have happened, and it really almost did, but you didn't actually, and that makes you appreciate the thing that almost made it happen even more."

He paused, giving it a little more thought. "Then again, if you hurl, you have room for other food, which is definitely a thing here, because I can never decide what I want at fairs."

"Well, clearly the answer is everything." She snickered. "And it's all about pacing yourself to maximize the eating and riding experience."

"See that, you're already a pro, you have the strategy down. So, what are we gonna eat first, and what's our first ride, O Commander of the Carnival?"

"Hey, you're the one who invited me," she replied with a shrug. "How about you pick the first ride, and I'll pick the food. Because I could go for a hot dog right now."

Or whatever they had that was similar in this world.

He saluted smartly, though the doofy grin completely negated the joke of it. "Sure thing! How about the tipsy pirate ship?!" He pointed to the ride, which was swinging precariously back and forth, loaded with happily screaming riders.

Glancing towards the ride, she then grinned and nodded. "Sounds like a plan. Let's head over, and if we see a hot dog stand on the way, we'll grab a few to eat while in line."

"And drinks," he added, taking her wrist to lead her through the crowd. There wasn't a hot dog stand, but there was most certainly a vendor selling tiny little puffbal toys with googly eyes. The sort of thing Webby would probably flip her bow over.

She followed him through the crowd, though couldn't help pausing a moment as they passed by the toy vendor.

And she couldn't help a snicker as she picked one up. "These kinds of things are always cute in the weirdest way."
