gonna step up - step up - step right up
Who: Dewey and YOUEY
Where: The Docks
When: Mid-August
What: Dewey and Friends attend the traveling festival! Open post! If you've ever threaded with him, he considers you a Friend and would have invited you in a BBS post. Feel free to start a TL at some other specific event if you want to skip the lead-up: rigged games, sideshow attractions, maybe gawking at the Manticore of Munn ...
Warnings: will be added if they become A Thing
The minute Dewey heard the rumors going around that there was a traveling festival in town, he knew he had to go. Noctis was right: it was high time he got back down into the city, despite the fact that he and Rapunzel had gotten so hopelessly lost a few weeks ago. This time, he was going prepared: a map from the library was tucked into his backpack, with plenty of room left over for cheap midway winnings and souvenirs he didn't even need, but would absolutely hoard anyway.
He left a quick note on the bulletin board, addressed to anyone he even remotely considered a friend: Guys hey let's go to the dock festival meet you outside the path to town k we're DEWING THIS - Dewey
Anyone who wanted to meet up with him could find him bouncing on the balls of his feet, too excited to stand still.

But here, this sort of thing, that was his element, and in that, he saw an opportunity: a way to make Noctis look cool in front of his fancy friend and be sure that they all had a great time.
"Yeah, I told him that when something happened in town, we should both go. And this carnival is a lot like the ones we have in Duckburg every fall! So it's perfect! I can show you around just like I would if we were back home. I'm practically an expert at this stuff."

One might have easily thought it a reaction to being among a stranger and a familiar classmate, trying to make good impressions, and why not? Wasn't that what people, as a general rule, did? He liked to think so.
"I see. It does take the drone out of classes day in and out, doesn't it? I believe we were here to do just that, and I would not mind your direction, if we do not object." He looked to Noctis, awaiting his decision.

Being looked at for direction surprised him because again there was no attitude behind it. Was Kuja actually relaxing around him? Well, Noctis decided he was just going to go with it and let Dewey make a new friend since the other party seemed somewhat agreeable to the idea.
Nodding at the silver haired man, the king then looked at the duck. "Show us the way."

So saying, he shamelessly grabbed their sleeves and tugged.

He had been about to agree to visit the stand when he found himself pulled in that direction, quite literally. The contact caught him off guard, raised a quiet tension down along his back at its suddenness, a reflex long and hard learned, but one he covered with another smile easily, though belatedly.
"I see. I suppose we will, then."

But when Kuja permitted himself to be tugged on, that got him wondering. It was funny, because Dewey had more courage than he himself had, but then again ducks were cuter. So that had to be the reason that the other man wasnt fussing or snarling or whatever.
Besides, the 'friend' comment made earlier still had him silently snickering, so he just smirked over at Kuja quickly and went along.

"Whatcha think?"

The drink was accepted with a soft hum of thanks, but he took a moment to examine the liquid inside and gave it a delicate sniff before he took a sip of it. The sourness of the fruit balanced out in a strange way with the sweetness of it in extremes he knew immediately that he didn't like, but he held onto the glass regardless and tilted his head, face revealing nothing. "It is... perhaps a little much for me. But if either of you like it, you may have mine."

The king promptly took Kuja's and drank it because otherwise he was going to ask questions or say things that were sure to get him into trouble. The silver haired man wasn't ready for him to be more of himself so he had to do something instead. Lemonade happened to provide that answer for right now.
He still just couldn't believe that that Kuja had allowed Dewey to tug on him and get away with the friends comment.
