The Bodyswap Post One: Nothing Wrong With Me In the blink of an eye, disaster strikes: disaster, in the form of a chaotic misassociation of minds and bodies. Everyone immediately blames Headmaster Birony. But for once, zaniness isn't her fault; a faulty spell has collapsed and sprawled across the campus like so much mayonnaise falling from an ice cream scoop, infused with powerful chaotic energies that make it so difficult to counteract. And so here you are: trapped in a body that is not yours. Something's Got To Give At the same time, the multicolored, feathered, amorphous blob monster has emerged without warning, lurching from its attenuated connections with the two innocent students who were used for its summonings into the light of day once more. As they promised, the faculty immediately springs into action, capturing the beast in an immense and convoluted magical cage, which it promptly squirts out of because it is now the size of a cantaloupe. In this form, the creature has no power beyond annoyance, and the staff are pretty distracted at the moment (Professor King, for example, is currently a frog), so catching it is low priority. Students are advised to be cautious around it, as it has a tendency to gnaw on things like homework, legs, buildings, and complicated spellwork. On the other hand, wouldn't catching it be worth some renown and recognition -- especially if you managed it in a body not your own? Push Me Again, This Is The End Perhaps shockingly, the Sundered aren't the only people affected by this mess of Modification. Students by the dozen find themselves in the wrong bodies, and that means the Magicademy is chaos. Cat familiars given human form raid the newly-reopened Great Hall, stealing every piece of food they can and knocking down every glass, book, or valuable item left on a horizontal surface above ground height. Unscrupulous souls take advantage of the anonymity in new forms to steal, bully, swipe, or even just catch a glimpse of attractive students of their desired gender at inopportune moments. Others are taking respect of their new bodies so far that they, well, kind of smell thanks to their unwillingness to bathe. Though classes continue as normal, attendance is a nightmare. In short, chaos rules the Magicademy, and spills over uncomfortably often into those doing their best to muddle through... LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR! LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR! LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR! This is the wildcard option. We just wanted to put that in a heading. Bodies? Bodyswap? Get it? Eh? Eh? Never mind...

[ he feels bad that kaiba is having a much more difficult time. because he's in kaiba's body he'd gotten a lot taller, which has made walking and running places a breeze... at least when he's not tripping over himself. kaiba kind of got a, uhm, a downgrade. ]

[ he stops just outside the alcove, ducking inside a moment later and leaning back against the nearest wall as he sighs. ] No, it's not the cards. It's a couple of things I, ah, think. I had been trying to switch with Webby. [ he rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. ] How we arrived at body swapping is, uhm, it's a long story, but I think whatever had been inside of me and, ah, Lena kind of caused the spell to sort of backfire? [ he'll remind kaiba of when those sundered had held him and lena hostage briefly, which seemed like a thing of the past with everything else happening. ]

I'm not really sure how we fix it, especially since it seems to have affected, w- well, everybody. [ sighs again. [

[blue_ice]

[ Kaiba groans. What a horrible mess. ]

That 'thing'. It's still with you?

[ He takes to pacing back and forth, but it looks sillier like this. ]

[puzzlers]

No. I think it managed to escape when we tried the, ah, the spell...

I need to find it though, especially since the staff is dealing with this mess too.

[blue_ice]

I'll help you. We're both a little disoriented, and...

[ He sighs. ]

You can cover more ground. I can fit into smaller spaces. Let's go.

[ He keeps his gaze low, irritation radiating from him...but it's just the situation. He'll get over it. ]

[puzzlers]

We should take a little bit of time to get used to these new bodies and then we can go look for it. But, yeah, between the two of us we should have everything covered. [ he doesn't like the idea of splitting up, so hopefully kaiba doesn't suggest that. ]

[blue_ice]

All right, all right. I'll try not to trip.

[ He huffs, sighs, and takes Yugi's hand. ]

...Are my hands always this cold?

[puzzlers]

[ he looks down at his hands. ]

I never really noticed. [ they might have been a bit on the colder side, but yugi's never been bothered by it. ] Why?

[blue_ice]

[ Kaiba leans back, idly cupping the hand between his. ]

It's just...something I notice when everything feels new.

[ He tugs Yugi closer and hums. ]

Try not to hit my head on any doorways. Some of them are far too low.

[puzzlers]

[ he watches as kaiba cups his hands. ] I'm sure. This is all so... strange... I guess I don't really think about something I've gotten used to, you know?

[ snorts. ] I'll be careful, but I bet you're glad you don't have to worry about that for a bit, huh?

[blue_ice]

[ That warms his heart. He gives Yugi's hand a playful kiss. ]

I'll always want to hold yours, so I'm glad.

No, I just have to worry about you escaping me. Hmph. Maybe next time I should make you carry me.

[ He snorts. He's kidding. Definitely kidding. ]

[puzzlers]

Well you don't have to ask, Kaiba, you can always hold my hand. [ he squeezes it tightly. ] I think you'll see that you'll have a hard time losing me. I should be worrying about losing you [ he hesitates a moment and then smirks. ] shortie.

I can carry you. [ he'll tug kaiba close and then scoop up him into his arms, holding him bridal style. ]

[blue_ice]

[ Kaiba clings to Yugi's neck (or is it his own neck?) and looks up. This is definitely weird. It's been many years since he was small enough for anyone to carry him.

He enjoys being close and protected, but he can't let Yugi off the hook too easily. ]

Hmph. You realize you're insulting yourself, right?

[ He laughs and presses a kiss to his cheek. ]

All right. If the chaos is concentrated here, it can't have gone far. Let's go.

[puzzlers]

I’ll be insulted when I’m back in my body. [ playfully sticks his tongue out at him. ] For now you can be insulted. [ but he has never really minded being on the shorter side. sure, it’s been a bit difficult at times, but it’s whatever, and now he’s got kaiba around to help with things he can’t reach... or he would if they were in their own bodies. ]

It couldn’t have gotten too far... I hope. [ it seems like most of the student body is in a panic over what’s happening, which seems like the appropriate reaction, but it kind of makes it easier on them to pass without looking too strangely. ]

[blue_ice]

I could, yes, or..

[ He snuggles up to Yugi, completley unashamed. It's not like anyone else is going to know this is really him. ]

I could distract you with my---your---charm.

[ He leans up to kiss his cheek, laughs, and as he looks up to admire the angle of his face...there's a flicker in the dark. He clings tighter to Yugi's neck with one arm and points up at a high ledge with the other. ]

Wait. Up there!

[puzzlers]

[ yugi looks down at kaiba like really, but he lazily drapes an arm around his shoulders and holds him closely. ] Oh yeah? You think so? I can be pretty stone faced. [ smirks. ]

Huh? [ he looks over his shoulder to where kaiba is pointing. ] You saw it? [ because it's gone now. ]

[blue_ice]

It's fun to break the stone. I can see that now.

[ Yugi's doing such a good impression of him, it's hard not to laugh. But he manages to pull away from his silly expressions just enough to get back to business. ]

I did. Eyes open, it's not far now.

[ He refocuses his attention lower, nearly tripping in his haste to stop when a shadow moves suspiciously under a nearby bench. He leaps for it...and misses, ending up in a tangle on the ground. He huffs and pushes himself up. ]

...should we risk trying our magic? It could be defective from all of this.

[puzzlers]

[ yugi takes a step back to look at where it was climbing just a moment ago, but then kaiba is diving for something under a bench. how did it get over there that fast? he frowns and quickly hurries over, grabbing kaiba by the arm and lifting him up and tucking him under as he gives chase. it's fast. ]

I'm not sure. Magic didn't seem to do anything to it last time, though that was offensive spells. Maybe we can create a cage or a trap for it. You're the Modification wizard, so [ he skids to a stop. ] the bench, go for it, Kaiba.

[blue_ice]

[ This is humiliating. All right, all right, Yugi, you've made your point. Kaiba huffs, but he rubs his hands together regardless. ]

I'm on it. Stay down!

[ The bars come down fast and he holds his breath. He's really hoping it doesn't have some weird gelatinous magic to get out of this. Maybe if he hurriedly reinforces the bars, changing them to iron----ugh. There. ]

[puzzlers]

[ he's thankful that kaiba's quick, the bars closing around the creature and securing it in place. it looks like it's going to try to bolt, but he reinforces it to keep it in place. ]

Nice job, Kaiba! Now... what should we do with it...

[blue_ice]

[ He shifts under Yugi's arm to look up at him. ]

Aren't we going to take it to the professors?

...and you can put me down now.

[puzzlers]

[ oh, oops, he'd forgotten he'd been carrying kaiba. he sets him down and laughs a bit sheepishly. ] Sorry.

Yeah. Good idea.

[blue_ice]

That's better.

[ Kaiba smiles up at him, a little knowing look, and carefully molds the cage floor. He separates it with another spell and lifts it up, peering at the creature inside. ]

This had better be the last I hear from you. You've given him more than enough trouble.

[puzzlers]

It was a lot worse the first time it made its appearance. [ shortly after the students had performed that ritual with him and lena. ] If we have to deal with it at all I'll take it as is. [ although ideally... ] You got it, Kaiba?

[blue_ice]

You're going to make me lug this thing?

[ He makes a face up at Yugi, but he's joking. Mostly. He seems to carry it without too much trouble. ]

All right. We turn it in, it's researched, and we get our bodies back. In a just world it'd be that simple. But...this might be a while.

[ It could be worse, though, Yugi's right. He bumps against him as he walks, thinking on...well. A few things. How they could have fun later. ]

[puzzlers]

Huh, oh, no! I just meant that we have a plan now and we've both got it. [ don't mind him as he takes the cage from kaiba to carry it. ] You're infinitely stronger than I am, so it'd only make sense if I carried it using your body. I could probably carry both you and this thing if need me.

[ he spares kaiba's body a glance, though there's really not much to see with all of these robes in the way. a shame, really. ] What are you thinking about?
