What: In between schoolwork, Lea has some errands to run and other things to do in town. Care to join him?

[For Xion]

Over the past couple months it had become rather painfully clear that there were a great many things about normal life in a school and city that Xion just didn't know about. Up til this point, Lea had been explaining things as they went, but he'd begin to realize that this was somewhat impractical long term. Thus, having heard about a more general library in the city, he'd opted to take Xion there to see if they had some books that she could refer to that might help.

Hopefully they had a children's section somewhere because he didn't think any other books would explain the kinds of basic concepts Xion needed to learn...

[For Eleven]

Having discovered through conversation that Eleven had never had ice cream before, Lea had taken it upon himself to correct this unfortunate oversight. And he knew just where to take Eleven for his introduction to frozen deliciousness: the Ice Creamatorium.

"Now I gotta warn you," he said as they approached the unusual ice cream shop, "the themeing of this place is a little off the wall. But trust me, you'll like it."

[For anyone]

Having a little money in his pocket now opened up a great many more possibilities for things to do in the city, both in terms of errands and in terms of leisure activities. And Lea needed to get to know the city a bit better anyway. Thus he could frequently be found out and about on weekends (and occasionally when he should have been doing other things), running errands or taking in the sights and wouldn't mind having some company.

"Probably because you knew I'd make you do something about it," Lea said. "Anyway, is this a recent problem, or has it been going on for awhile?"

"The last couple of years or so..."

He won't protest, or argue that his eyesight's fine. He knows it's not, even if it is fairly mild.

"I know I should have done something about it by now, but I couldn't show any sign of weakness in my position...."

Lea nodded his understanding, but at the same time, set his face in a determined expression. "Well, you're not in that position any more," he said. "So we're gonna finish our tea and snacks and then we're gonna go get you some reading glasses. Sound like a plan?"

"Yes, that sounds like a plan..."

Thankfully they were pretty close to wrapping up their tea time, so they could start the glasses hunt sooner rather than later.

When they were done, Isa put his books away in his bag, and looks back at Lea.

"I think there's a store that sells glasses nearby."

Lea put his books away too, standing up and stretching a bit, and being sure to leave a tip for the waitress before they left the cafe. "Yeah I think I saw it on the way over," heading back up the block in the direction of the shop they'd seen. "Though given this place, before we try any on, we'll want to be sure to make sure that they're just normal reading glasses and don't have any weird magical effects." He didn't quite trust wearable accessories that were made here after nearly buying a discounted neckerchief that the shopkeeper had neglected to inform him had a tendency swear loudly when dropped on the floor. He'd thankfully found out in time- if quite by accident- because he didn't feel like explaining to Xion what those words meant.

Isa rolls his eyes.

"I have to wonder why the people here waste time making magical items with such pointless effects."

Maybe there was a reason and Isa just didn't get it, because he found some of the effects magical items could have to be exceedingly juvenile.

"Probably the same reason they make a million and one different kinds of kitschy knick-knacks back home," Lea said. "They know someone out there'll buy it. Though they really do need stricter labeling laws around here."

"In any case, let's see what they have here..."

Upon arriving at the shop, it didn't take long to locate a rack of reading glasses in various strengths and styles. "Here we go," Lea said, examining the labels marking each pair's strength. "How strong do you think you need them? Or Do you just want to try different ones and see what feels best?"
