I don't know if I can give you anything you want. [Closed to Hendrik]

Who: Yotsuyu and Hendrik
Where: Living quarters
When: One evening pre-dance, post-insanity.
What: Someone asked for dancing instruction. Liquid courage is definitely may be needed.

It had been a brief exchange of letters between them, but Yotsuyu was gratified to know that Hendrik was willing to make an attempt to instruct her in dancing with a partner. Instead of the dancing that she knew how to do--which was not, as sweet Webbigail had thought, was 'like Broadway'.

Whatever Broadway was. Yotsuyu had no clue.

But damned if she was going to tell Webby she'd been a courtesan--assuming Webby even knew what that meant. Some innocence should be preserved--even if hers had never had a chance, courtesy of Asahi.

Courtesy demanded that she provide; Yotsuyu had acquired a plate of yakitori, since Hendrik seemed to favor it, and some spring onion flatbread to wrap around it. That, a half-opened bottle of wine and an unopened cask of ale sat on her desk, her schoolwork safely hidden away. She had moved her scant furniture to the walls and windows to ensure she had room to practice. Now all that was left was to wait for the knight to arrive.

So the question was, why in the seven hells was she so nervous?

The knight was wondering why he nearly collided with Yotsuyu because that had been a shock just trying to get in the door.

But he remained where he was until she stepped back. He was now tapping his gloves together nervously as Yotsuyu spoke and to his surprise and delight, yakitori was sitting on the table. It made him mentally berate himself for not having thought to ask about food in advance.

So he nodded to her explanation and she was correct in assuming that he wouldn't sit until she did because ladies sat first. But Hendrik was disappointed in learning that she'd already eaten.

"I appreciate both your thoughtfulness and your effort. I shall take it home." And give some to the Luminary too, but that went unsaid. And that's when his brain clicked on so he took his gift out and handed it to her.

"This is for you."
