Increment Rhythm and Rhyme

What: Orisa is having a problem, or alternatively, an adventure.



Orisa wasn't quite sure when it had happened, because on analysis, the compulsion had been growing for some time, ever since class that morning in fact. A whimsical idea became a mild urge, then a strangely strong desire, and now --

Now she couldn't resist it.

Galloping around at full speed, Orisa raced around the campus to hit all the busy places. The towers, the Great Hall, the classrooms, anywhere she thought she could find people. Alarming as the sight of a huge hippotaur robot racing around might be, being noticed by her was worse. She skidded to a halt, tail end drifting slightly so she could break into a run towards the people she saw. And no sooner did she approach then her metallic voice rose up in... rap?

"I've got a problem. It's getting worse.
So I challenge you to combat in meter and verse.
If you beat me, if you should defeat me
I'd be freed by your deed, for it's quite feat, see?
I cannot hold back. I cannot refrain.
I must put in all the power from my generator main!
So give me the best, put me to the test
And help me evict this unwanted spell guest!"

Her head twitched slightly to the beat-tracking of her internal feedback audio software, and one foot twitched to the same. Fight/Rap/Run?

Louie was a student of Valhudor, and that meant he'd been learning music in cooperation with learning magic. Still, having to sing - or in this case, rap? That was something he had hoped it wouldn't come to.

Nevermind the fact that this curse or whatever? It seemed ridiculous.

"So you can only rap right now?"

Orisa's eyes snapped shut, then spun around to inward pointing carats, all >.<.

"I must truly fear
That I was not clear.
This is my problem, Louie
My vocal circuits are screwy.
No doubt it's a spell
That's rendered me unwell
But I haven't a choice
Except to speak in this voice!"

Louie sighed. He did not want to do this... Why couldn't Dewey be here? Dewey would have tried and possibly made a total fool of himself, it'd be hilarious. Then again, Orisa needed someone to beat her in a rap battle.

Ugh, fine. What choice did he really have? Not that he thought his odds were at all good...

"I hear what you mean
Don't think that I'm dense
But this spell you're under
Just doesn't make sense!"

He was warming up, alright?

No logic in magic." How much easier her life would be if she could simply defeat all such inconveniences by consulting first principles!
"I am not even unkempt
From such a weak attempt.
Put fire in your words
You small little bird!"

Orisa winced visibly, shoulders hunching and eyes swiveled tightly shut. She didn't want to be mean!

And Louie didn't want to care that Orisa seemed to feel bad, but it looked like there weren't going to be any winners today.

"Rhymes aren't my thing
But I'll tell you this
Small little bird
Is a pretty weak diss!
Yeah, I've heard worse -
But I have to wonder
Why you're the kind of robot
The spells chose to Sunder!
Sure, you've got guns
And you're big and stuff
But what I'm asking
Is do you think that's enough?
