Books are a uniquely portable magic
Where: The book sale
When: During the month
Who: Yuki and whoever would like to hop on in
What: Books of course!
.
At first, Yuki had gone to the auction house, having heard of the book sale and that a wizard had passed his library to uninterested heirs. But after having seen those books go for sums of money that weren't possible here, he'd managed to find some people stocking the unsold tomes on shelves not far off from the auction house.
Being a reader himself, this, of course, caused Yuki to go check out what was available and see if he could possibly afford any of the books. He did see and pick up one about dragon anatomy, but after flipping through the pages, he put it down.
The cookbooks were of no interest to him and he started looking through the more magical tomes. There seemed to be a few novels as well and his eyes just kept perusing the titles, as other titles seemed to start filling up the shelves more and more.
Selecting a few of the books, Yuki puts them down on a nearby table intent on seeing if any are of interest enough to purchase.
But after he sets them down, maybe the table was already occupied?
"I'm sorry, were you sitting here?"

"I'm sorry, were you sitting here?"

A while later, he returned to claim the chair with a fresh selection of books. The proffered chemistry book didn’t go unnoticed, and Tenn accepted it with another thanks.
"I asked for the price range. Most are well above student funds." He gently turned the worn cover to the table of contents, skimming rapidly. "We're fortunate they're letting us look through them. Even the library in Diatu doesn’t have many of these."
no subject
"Somehow that figures. I have to wonder how much longer these books will be around if they're not going to donate them to the library afterward."
This made the most sense to him if they weren't purchased by other people here. There had to be a way to do this, Yuki just had to see if he could figure it out.

"Many of these are too advanced or specialized for most public libraries. I imagine that is why they're going for collector prices."
Turning a page, Tenn glances up. "Was there something in particular you were hoping to find?"
no subject
And if what the other was saying was true, if they were advanced or specialized, who knew where they'd end up. He wished he had the means that he had back home, he could easily get so many of these books and donate them himself if he wished.
But finally, he found something useful which was a spell for plant growth. So Yuki rummaged into his backpack and pulled out a pen and some paper. At the question, he shook his head. Not unless there was a spell to go home, but he'd already been asking around about that.
"Not really. I'd heard about the book sale and thought to come to check it out. I figured there wouldn't be anything familiar here." And there really wasn't.
"What about you?"
no subject
"I have not found anything promising, but there's more to browse." Hm, still no good... if it wasn't here, where could he look next? There were rumors about another library on campus, but he would have to search for it.
Tenn closed the chemistry book and pushed it aside, catching a glimpse of Yuki's choice of reading material as he did so.
"You have an interest in gardening?"
no subject
He himself would sit as long as he was allowed and search through the piles all day and night if they gave him that kind of time. But somehow, he doubted it.
But at the question, Yuki realized the book had been noted and gave a shrug.
"It seemed to be the only practical topic, versus a whole book on dragon anatomy."
And of course, provided there were no extra killer plants on the loose any time soon.
