The Great Familiar Audition [For whatever reason, it seems that rats are particularly drawn to Della in this whole quest to become someone's familiar. The problem there is that Della already has a familiar-- a bat. Specifically, he's a little red flying fox she calls Dogfight. And while he's a fruit bat, so the rats aren't in danger of being eaten, he's not above divebombing them to keep them away from "his" wizard. Della is having a heck of a time trying to keep him in check, and calls out to passers-by:]
Hey, buddy! You get a familiar yet, because I think these little rats will be happy to fill the role!
The Food Cartening [There's so many options at the food carts that Della's having a hard time picking just one menu to look at. She keeps moving from cart to cart, not to mention seeing what others have picked up as they head to leave. At some point, she might even get to you!]
