It only got him so far. He kept the chalk in hand, and took another look.

Ronstadt wasn't sure if he could will himself to see anything magical, but he could sure look for something out of place. He stepped back just a little, taking a look at the board as a whole. Usually, when people gave you any sort of puzzle, you got instructions, right? Like that meme: "Solve for X? Here it is." Maybe he could do something like that. Be a little shithead. It might get him in trouble, but ... it might also get a few laughs out of the class, which ... if he tilted his head and squinted, meant keeping the spirit of Valhudor in its own little way. Without hesitation, he made quick work of the rest of the zeroes on the board... then stretched up on his toes, crossed out Sho's "will be" and substituted "have been" in his messy handwriting.

On the outside, he was grinning like a maniac, but internally he was cringing. Pissing off a magic-user? What was he thinking?!
