December Event Log #1: Someone App Tails So He Can Get Trolled
Now I Face Out
"I am the Shadow, the true self!" the duplicate proclaims in a distorted voice, pointing dramatically at the original. What happens next depends on what the wizard the shadow spawned from is repressing, though. If you have an urge to cut loose and wreck shit, the shadow will be immediately destructive, tearing apart the academy around it. If you refuse to acknowledge a deep trauma in your past, the shadow may perch on a tower and radiate waves of sadness and apathy to get everyone else to feel their pain too. And so on and so forth. Whatever aspects of themself the character refuses to acknowledge, that they feel shame over, the shadow will embody to its most destructive extent possible. Oh, and the guiltier a character feels about whatever they're repressing, the more powerful their shadow is.
Oh, boy. But hey. Getting to literally fight back against all of the worst parts of yourself is generally cathartic enough to begin the healing process? Right? No? Well, too bad, because this thing isn't going away and somebody needs to take care of it before the situation gets worse. Thankfully, your friends are there to help you through it! Hopefully.
Once characters reconcile with their shadows, they can see and interact with a spiral staircase leading up to the heavens. However, considering that the staircase is crawling with hostile, mindless generic shadows and that the presence of whatever's at the top can be felt, they may want to bring a few friends before investigating. ![]() |

Yet even as he kicked the shadow across the room, its form was shifting, changing. Growing larger, more darkly radiant, even as a pair of rabbit-ear-like protrusions rose from the crown of 'her' head, and a line of brilliant blue limned the golden eyes. A cruel smile curved the shadow's lips.
"You mirror me even there?" Yotsuyu said with another sneer. "Of course you do. You are everything I hate about myself! Everything I wish I erased!" Which she would have, had Asahi not interrupted her that night in Doma, and led her unto...this.
Then again, being here certainly was better than being dead. And she'd said before...if she could not escape her fate, then she ought to embrace it. Though she was the better at spellcasting--but the shadow wanted her.
Lifting the dagger above her head, Yotsuyu let out a shriek and lunged at her shadow, which cackled wildly and rushed at her as well...

...Ugh. He was gonna have to use logic.
"You've been telling me you couldn't ever forget what you were, right? That you had to remember it to keep from going back down that path?"

Yotsuyu had let the dagger drop to tangle in her sleeve. As it was not the Shadow's demise that she was lusting for. No. It was indeed loathing that she felt for that part of her past, and horror that here it was, exposed for all to see (though, blessedly, there were few to actually witness it, thus far)...for all that she had denied it and brought herself to this new (yet another brand new low for her, after two unbearable losses she had never thought to bear) low...
"Yes, Jecht," she said, sounding nothing more than tired. "That is what I had said." And she hadn't forgotten! She'd tried to recall! And yet that had meant nothing as well.
Hadn't it?
