Webby was still trying to learn how to pick up social cues, and tone was one of them. Had she said something wrong? She hesitated, trying to think of how to fix it.
"Y'know what we're like?" She said after a while. "One of those big, elaborate jigsaw puzzles. The ones showing a beautiful city in Venice or a bunch of kittens tumbling out of a basket of yarn. But there's a piece missing. And from far away, the puzzle looks pretty good! Still looks like a big city or a bunch of kittens. You don't even realize any pieces are missing."
"But then we found each other, and it was like... oh, hey! I've been missing something important, and I didn't even know it!"
