Class From A Single Classed PC - OTA
Who: V and any students who wish to take V's class
What: Class log for April
Where: Whatever classroom they are assigned
When: Mondays and Thursdays at 7pm, because why not?
Warnings: silliness, 4th wall shenanigans, bad jokes. Possible cartoon level violence?
"It has come to my attention, class that there are some people in this place who are less than honest when it comes to the claiming of credit for things in which they had no three fingered hand. While one might expect such deception and cowardice amongst other classes, I would have liked to have thought better of my fellow wizards and hopefuls. Though it is entirely possible that the scoundrel has multiclassed to rouge or some such. This is not to say that all rouges are evil in alignment, nor are all wizards good aligned. I myself happen to be more in the neutral middle, as is a rogue I know well back home. However, as much as I might consider Miss Starshine - no relation apparently to the name of the library - a companion, I have a high enough wisdom stat to know in what ways she can and cannot be trusted."
"To that end, This month we will have two primary focuses for our projects. The first is a free project and I will be available to answer questions as they arise. The purpose of the project is information gathering from a single PC or NPC source, of the living variety. This can take the form of a spell, a potion, a wand, an artifact, or some other idea so long as it is sufficiently interesting and challenging. While this will not be an epic crafting assignment, I would like you all to keep notes on your process and keep this in mind for a potential epic crafting assignment, as there will be one in the future."
"In addition to the form, the nature of the contained spell itself is also largely up to your individual choices. It could be directed to cause one to speak only the truth as they know it, or even to cause one to speak truths hidden until that moment. It could be a spell to give a bonus to a gather information check or an artifact to be used for a bardic lore, so long as one makes sure it is given only to a bard with enough ranks in spellcraft to actually make use of the item. It could be a spell of sense motive, even. Please be free with your creations, and again please recall that I am available as a source of both wisdom and intelligence."
"Before testing your spells when handing them in, you will declare how it is meant to work. While testing amongst yourselves, feel free to take twenty, however when you demonstrate for the class, you will have exactly one chance, so I highly recommend getting all the buffs you can in place to avoid the devastation of rolling a two. All the buffs in the world, of course, cannot save you from a critfail or force a nat 20."
"That being said, if you have concerns about testing your spell on your classmates please come see me and we shall together endeavor to find a solution. That is the long assignment due in the middle of next month."
"The short assignment due at the end of the week is of a signatory nature. One way to ensure that you can prove a spell is yours is to place a detail in it that either seems too small to replicate, or perhaps has a meaning only you can unlock as proof. Both are suitable choices, and I will ask you each to craft one magical item or spell with such a signature and we shall discuss it."
"There is one other safeguard you can use as well, of course. And that is a trap spell. Can anyone explain to me the function of a trap spell, and how it would be used in this context?"
